Acer B326HK - 4k 32" monitor sub 1k euro

@Dahkoht: Welcome to the forums. From your previous post "Just looking for advice from some of you who get where I'm coming from. 60hz is fine for me , love my Dell 3014 atm , it will be going to the side as a work/browsing 2nd monitor hooked up to my current machine that will be replaced as a gaming rig. I'm wondering if the 32" Acer will seem "small" in any way next to the Dell 3014 with the different ratio's ? "

I was using a Dell U3011 until the Acer arrived. Was very fond of it and the 16:10 format. It is taking a bit of getting used to the 16:9 on the Acer but it is working out OK. I thought the Acer was smaller or something than the Dell but having used the app that Tisca posted, they show to be fairly close in size.

Took a measure and the Acer is about one inch shorter in height but about two inches wider than the Dell. The Dell bezels are thick and clunky so make it look larger than it really is--the Acer bezels are quite thin in comparison. I haven't set the Dell back up yet as am afraid my system will crash trying to run both of them. Doubt the difference in formats/resolutions would be that different from when I was running a 24" HP 1920x1200 next to the 30" Dell 2560x1600. I don't seem to notice the differences that much when they are on different monitors running different programs. It could bother you.

I had seen release notes on the Acer and had about decided it could be the monitor for me. Wanted a bit more screen real estate than the Dell offered but 40" just seemed way to much for a monitor. Also wanted IPS panel and light matte finish on the screen. Had already figured 4K (or more) was the wave of the future. One of the members discovered that the Acer was put on sale for almost a steal so it wasn't a big decision to go ahead and purchase it.

As to future products, specs--who knows. You'll have to wait for the Philips to release and compare the asking price to the Acer at that time and maybe get a few reviews. If any price goes really low then I'd jump on it. So far I've been in love with the Acer and haven't had a problem. It is not used at all for gaming so my needs are likely different from many others. Do hope to get more powerful GPUs soon and a Windows OS that will scale UHD better especially when using multiple monitors.

Can someone try something for me in MSI afterburner?

When you click the reset button, does your screen flicker? Also when you start changing the sliders and hit apply, does it flicker as well?

Really considering pulling the trigger on this monitor for my new build. I am considering waiting for the next Nvidia 980ti/titan2 whatever , but as at 4k I'm good with no AA and think 2 980's would do me fine. ?

Hate to cutt it to ya but even 2 980's won't do it. I have i7-5930K@ 4.2 GHz, and 2 MSI 980 Gamings, and many games (DA:I, Crysis 3, Watch dogs and a few more I have tried) still do not run very smooth, they are close to being smooth but no cigar. I think the next generation of GPU's should do it nicely @4K, but I still think 2 980's were more designed for 1440p max detail high fps koz it just isnt enough for 4096x2160 (I'm using LG 4K).

But with no AA is that still true ? I honestly don't even bother turning it on often at 2560x1600 , maybe if it's already a preset but otherwise I don't worry about it.

Screenshots ,sure I can tell a difference , but running along in motion at 4k I can't imagine I'd notice AA much.

Every benchmark I look at seems to have AA turned on for 4k. I'm fine without it at that res.

Also gaming wise I'm going to mainly be playing mmo's be it ESO or FFXIV (or EQN in the future etc) , with the occasional strategy games mixed in. DA:i is the only one that I will likely be playing out of that list , and normally I don't play anything that is a console-mix like Watch Dogs , Assassins etc.

If I can play FFXIV , ESO , likely EQN at 4k with no AA and decent FPS I'm good.

Leaning towards the Acer 32" over the Phillips 40" overall.

I have no problem with MMOs, RTS, and MOBAs with one 980 (1500/7800) at max settings.

When people are talking about dropping the cash on 3-4 video cards for this kind of thing, they're talking about Crysis 3, Metro LL, etc. Games that are usually <10hrs of gameplay each and are just used in reviews for benchmarks. If you're not a big FPS player, don't worry about it. The only RPGs you have to worry about are Witcher 3 and DA:I.

Most of the comments on that video are correct though, you don't need $1,000 to run build a 4K machine if all you are going to do is play F2P games. You can do that on a $600 budget and still hit 60 fps at Ultra at 3840x2160 with such easy to run games.

I saw that some people got this monitor for 699 it seems to be 999 now (USD) - does anyone think the price will back down or is this worth it at the higher price? How about compared to the LG 31"?

I honestly think that $699 price was an anomaly. The monitor JUST came out a few days before Newegg put it up for $699. I highly doubt it was supposed to go 30% off right from the opening gate. You don't see AMD/NVidia GPUs or DDR4 RAM or other computer components going 30% off right from the start, right?

Anyway, I personally don't think 32 inch class IPS 4k panels will go $699 again this year, or most of 2015 for that matter. I can see the Dell 27 inch 4k ones go for like $500-$550 though. But not a 32 inch class monitor.

If you feel like testing out that beastly rig of yours, then I'd recommend this monitor wholeheartedly even at full price. I can't say much about the LG, but it turned me off since it runs at 17:9, and I'm mostly a gamer, so I'd rather have full compatibility at 16:9.

Provantage had it for $867 or something like that. They might still.

I do not work or are in any way affiliated with Provantage. Just trying to help them out, as I bought the monitor from them but I returned it in favor of a different one. They had great customer service and gave me a full refund no questions asked.

If you want to play latest FPS games, and the likes of DA:I and Witcher 3, you will need a minmum 2x GTX 980. And that would be just boarderline playable with no AA.

I didn't have any problems with compatibilty with my 4K LG on games. I played, Crysis 3, Watch Dogs, Left 4 Dead 2, CS:GO, DA:I, Starcraft 2. Surprisingly they all let me select 4096x2160 resolution ingame, some fit the whole screen some have the black bars which is hardly noticeable.

The only game in that list that didn't allow me to naturally chose 4096x2160 was Starcraft 2, but I fixed this with a widescreen mod and it works nicely.

I was referring to the black bars. And not to mention, the LG costs $400 more and 1 inch smaller than the Acer. That made it an easy choice for me. I'm sure the LG is a fine and dandy monitor....I just wouldn't want to run one.

Since this has the same panel as the BL3201, anyone returned due to the AG coating? I see a lot of others playing musical monitors.

I realize no real alternative exists to the AUO 32" 4k panel except the 31" LG Cinema.

bump, someone help me out?

In eVGA Precision X any screen I have connected flickers when I reset to defaults or change profile. It does not when I click apply.

Many thanks , sounds like about the same gaming tastes and expectations here.

While happy with my Dell 3014 , just itching for a 4k one.

Trying to research the AG coating on this Acer , and hoping a Prime ordering option comes up soon for it.

Be sure to keep your eye out for the BL3201PH as well. It's $900 when in stock at Amazon. Same panel, slightly better stand, remote, and adjustable overdrive.

Awesome , didn't realize was the same panel, any idea on how the AG coating is on it ? Will definitely keep my eye out for it also.

Just over the years gotten soured on Newegg and had no issues with Amazon ever if needed to return anything.

(just signed up for the autonotify on Amazon)

Yep, AUO makes this panel and Benq owns them.

It's the same as the 32" VA panels. Heavier than the LG ultrawide and cinema, lighter than the older heavy AG of the Dell U2412M and U2711.

Going to a 4K monitor is on my radar, and I wen't to Microcenter yesterday to check out what they had. 28" was too small for me for my eyes (45 years old, no reading glasses yet but probably soon), so I know I will need something bigger. I know I want an IPS monitor as well, and this will fit perfectly on my desk. I am currently using a Dell U2412M which I love the dot pitch etc.

I am not really a gamer anymore, but given the specs of my rig in my sig, I have a few questions:

1.) I will need a new video card. I don't want to go SLI, and wish for a decent single card solution. Which one would be a good entry point. I prefer Nvidia.

2.) How comparable is the dot pitch with the monitor I have compared to this? Update: My current monitor is .27 mm vs the Acer which is .185 mm.

3.) Is there a benefit to going Windows 8.1 over Windows 7 Pro ? I was reading about zoom limitations on win 7? Please correct me if I am wrong. Given the smaller dot pitch, I will still probably have to adjust text sizing globally

4.) What else do I need besides a decent 6' cable?

1. Either a gtx 750 ti for around $110 on sale or going all the way to a GTX 970 for $300+ is probably what you're going to want to do in that case, the former will do fine if you run undemanding games or are willing to run 1080p on new ones. The gtx 960 is slated for January around $230 and might be a good midpoint if you want to wait and see on it.

2. Yep, the pixels are going to be way, way smaller :D.

3. You may find you don't really need global DPI scaling, rather being able to rely on font size increases in some programs, but otherwise (and frankly my personal opinion as well for everything) you'd be better off with win 8.1 by far for desktop use in 4k, and a small amount for gaming. I haven't used 4k on windows 7, but win 8.1 has handled it wonderfully for me since May 2014 with my first 4k display.

4. Really all you'll need is a nice displayport cable as you mentioned. I posted my recommendation earlier in the thread for an Accell dp1.2 cable that has reportedly worked well for others here and elsewhere, which I can link when I'm at my desk later if you don't find my post :).

1: If you're not gaming, just get a GTX750.

2: It is significantly more crisp than the U2412M. You may want scaling.

3: If you are running multiple monitors, you will need 8.1 to adjust the DPI independently.

4: Pretty sure you're good. I use this one because I needed a 10'. Works fine.

Yes, I have the same thing happen (quick flicker or flash of partial color on the screem) when setting memory clocks (including the same speeds, for example adjusting core but not memory) in Msi afterburner with this monitor (4k). It's normal behavior and nothing to be concerned on :).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ..._mmc=EMC-GD123114-_-index-_-Item-_-24-009-716

Newegg is making it rain fellas. $799 and free shipping! Not quite as good as the Black Friday deal, but still good nonetheless!

Greeting everyone.

I've been reading here a long time but it's my first post. Thanks everyone for some great insight and reviews/inputs on products on this great forum. Loving it.

I have 2 24" monitor for the longest time and I'm thinking about getting upgraded to 32" or bigger 4K. I don't play game. I watch movies and general work (office work, light graphic editing with photoshop etc..., light architect design with home building and remodel softwares, etc...). I'm 40 and my eyesight is pretty good at the moment. :)

So I was looking at this Acer 32", and the BenQ BL3201PH since they're at the lowest prices in the 32" 4K class currently (not counting seiki 39"), which kinda fall into my max budget I'd like to spend.

Now with Newegg dropping their price on the Acer one more time to $800 (my price would be ~$870 with tax in CA), I'm torn between the 2. Can anyone give me some good "final pushes" toward one or the other? :) Acer seems to have quite a bit of complaints on dead pixels. Anything on BenQ I should be aware of?

I also wonder if NewEgg would let you return without restocking fee and return shipping charge if the monitor is defective (with dead pixel for example).

Thanks in advance.

Nhi

Anyone know if the NewEgg Premier service would cover returning this monitor without a fee for shipping or restocking if there's something wrong with it ? Keep reading about the "qualifying items" clause under the Premier thing , and wondered if this falls in. For 799 was going to do the 30 day Premier trial and pull the trigger on this.

Just don't want to get stuck with bad pixels or restocking fee.

(nevermind , answered own question , this item doesn't have the P icon for Premier , anyone from the Nov deal had to deal with return or exchange with Newegg on this item ? Just heard horror stories about Newegg compared to how they once were , used Amazon since Prime started years ago for just this reason)

@swetmore: My eyes are way older than yours so this was the monitor I was waiting for--IPS, light matte coating, 4K. It hasn't disappointed. I upgraded as little as possible. Wanted the monitor first and see how it worked. Fortunately my GPU supported the resolution. You will need another card and the 750Ti others have mentioned is almost a steal right now. Using Windows 7 for single monitor and so far, so good. Also find Firefox scales 4K better than IE. Had to bump browser windows up a bit and upped the global on desktop apps to 125%. Were I to hook up another monitor have an idea W7 would be problematic. Streaming 4K eats bandwidth so hope you are OK there. Loved the 4K so much I went and bought a 4K TV! Seems to help my old eyes more than any other tech going on right now. Well, 4K OLED would be nice but I'd have to take a second and third job. :)

dragonageinquisition on this forum had returned and replaced many panels looking for one that didn't have dead pixels--haven't heard from him in a while so hope he got satisfaction. Think he was using Newegg so guess they didn't argue much about it. Honestly with somewhere around 8,294,400 pixels, my old eyes haven't been able to pick out any dead ones. If they are there I don't see them and ain't hunting too hard.

Thanks, not planning on returning it or anything , and I'm not super picky about finding slight light bleed in a corner on all black screen or anything like that. Just a glowing green pixel middle of screen drives me nuts etc. Got lucky with my U3014 being good first time around from Amazon earlier in year.

Just read horror stories at times about Newegg refusing exchanges due to box damage that occurred on the shipping out etc to begin with.

Sitting there with it in my cart heavily tempted to pull trigger.

Dude (or dudette) pull the trigger. The price probably isn't going to get any better for a while. I think you'll be pleased. Honestly, of all the monitors I've ever had, don't know that any of them had dead pixels and if they did I didn't notice them at all--these are microscopic size on a 4K it seems. I also always keep a fairly busy wallpaper going so that probably hides lots of flaws:) Seems the trick with 'Egg is to take tons of pictures before, during and after should you need to RMA. As to light bleeds and such, guess I'm not too sensitive there either. This panel does have sort of a brighter spot in the lower right hand corner right above the blue LED power light and I think it is light bleed from that and not the panel itself. Never notice it when I'm displaying things on the desktop. One of my monitors had the option of turning that light off but don't think the Acer does.

Lol I got tired of exchanging panels and kept one with 2 dead pixels on the top right corner an inch from the screen. Impossible to see during regular gaming.

As for newegg returns just sign up for a premier trial no restocking no questions asked returns with prepaid labels.

Also all the flickering on this panel that is normal, both the Samsung UD970 and LG 31MU97 had it. When a graphics card is changing clock speed due to flash or some other program asking for hardware acceleration turns on or off sometimes the screen will flicker a bit. Pretty normal at this resolution. If it's bothersome, wait for a HDMI 2.0 display. DP is pretty quirky.

dragonage: good to hear from you--thought maybe you had died:) Glad you found something you could live with. My monitors all flash from time to time--have so much stuff disabled and tweaked in the Windows features that I think Windows hates me--this monitor is no different in that respect than the HP ZR24W or the Dell U3011.

Thanks , yeah the price seems fine , signed up for the Premier Trial. This is sold by Newegg but doesn't have that premier icon for the item so didnt know if the free return would qualify or not for it.

When you say flickering, does it flicker bright colorful lines? Or a flicker with no color?

My Acer has a flicker once in awhile. It flickers bright colorful lines, usually on only one side of the monitor. I noticed it mostly when I'm idle at the desktop, reading e-mail or forums. I have seen it flicker in game as well, but it's usually hard to catch it, since I'm gaming and stuff is going on.

I'm kinda paranoid that the PCB of the monitor is going bad or something. Tordogs, does yours flicker bright colorful lines?

Happy New Years to all.

I've been itching to make a purchase on a 4K monitor for over a year and after much research on all the offerings available, I decided to pull the trigger on this Acer. First let me give you a little history. I'm an occasional gamer and I've been using my trusty Dell 2407WFP for the past 7+ years up until 2 months ago when I purchased an Asus ROG Swift. At the time, I was completely satisfied with its performance. Like many others, the combination of 1440p, 144Hz, and G-sync, pretty much sealed it for me.

Fast forward to last Saturday when I went into MC to pick up this Acer B326HK. My first impression after unboxing it was "damn, this thing is huge!". After firing it up, windows 8.1 looked amazingly crisp, text was razor sharp, and icons were rich with detail. The default scaling was perfect for me. I then launched a few games to test. (Call of Duty AW / FarCry4 / Crysis3 / NBA2K15 / NFS:Rivals). All games performed decent at 3840x2160/60hz with mid to high settings, however, as expected, I was able to distinguish its limitations when comparing it to the Asus ROG Swift.

After gaming at 144hz/Gsync, my eyes are now trained to see certain imperfections such as tearing, motion blur, lag etc. but I'm willing to accept these limitations (for now) in favor of a reasonably priced, massive 32" display with 4K resolution. I'm now looking to put my Asus up on ebay.

For those wondering about 4k performance at this point in time, wonder no more. Here's my rig running BF4 64-player multi on a demanding map as an example including settings pictured:

qO9bQ9g.png

That's pretty much how most games look in terms of performance/settings for me :D. Dial things down and drop MSAA and you could get acceptable performance on a single card, I'd imagine... but those claiming that 4K gaming isn't doable with eyecandy cranked are wrong :).

Well yes, yes it does. Almost like watching an old movie with scratched film--really quick, bright vertical lines (green usually)--lasts for an instant then gone. Generallly on the left half of the screen but once in a while on the right half. If you blink, you miss it. Figuring the panel is having to still combine two signals into one for the UHD--not sure how that works. Suppose it is some artifact from that. Hasn't happened in a few days that I've noticed but it just comes out of nowhere when it happens. Wondering if I should still buy the extended warranty thing or not. This is a bit different from the blinking on my other monitors. Might check the Acer forums and see what they have to say about it. Anybody else seeing this strangeness? I was blaming the GPU but it could be monitor.

I was very excited for Acer's G-sync monitor, as a do-it-all, but after thinking about it for a bit, I've decided to go with a 2 monitor setup - ROG Swift + LG 32" 4K (or possibly Acer's 32" 4K). This will replace my current 2 monitor setup - 24" G-Sync 1080p + 24" ASUS IPS 1200p. In the end, trying to get a single monitor that can do it all will inevitably lead to compromise in one area or the other for me - text reading and media editing/creating will be compromised on the TN, and gaming will be (somewhat) compromised on the 4K IPS. With two monitors, it's horses for courses.
I will wait until CES just to make sure there aren't any mind blowing new developments, but in all likelihood, this is what I will do.

Wow, this is exactly what I'm experiencing. Bright vertical lines that flicker very quickly. It happens very rarely, but when you're reading an e-mail or forum post, you will catch it. I say it happens rarely, but it has been happening to me more frequently, like once or twice PER DAY. That's why I asked around if others have it, because I'm getting paranoid something might be broken with my monitor

Anyone else want to chime in on random flicker? GoldenTiger? Also DragonAge, you said your LG and Samsung 4k flicker as well? Were they both bright vertical lines just like tordogs explained above?

I wouldn't worry about it. It seems to be a normal thing for 4K from what I've read (and seen) on the 3 panels I've owned/tried. The UP2414Q did it, though it was MST. The Acer 28" TN one did it (SST) when I had it for about a week, and now my B326HK does too still (the UP2414Q was with two different video cards as well, a gtx 780 before changing to 970 sli). I've read mentions of it over time, too. I'm seeing it maybe at most once or twice a day but sometimes none, on my B326HK, not concerned whatsoever :).
