The 2414 is a couple of revisions in so hopefully Dell has fixed it.
Good news, but definitely a shame.
Hopefully the u2414s are just as nice if I can't work out the scaling issue.
The U2415 is a much nicer panel than the U2414H. There's really no comparison.
If you want 16:9, get the U2715H on sale. The U2715H has the 27" 16x9 version of the panel (and electronics) in the U2415. It's much nicer than the BenQ 2710PT.
From my other thread: I think I'll keep them now, as I see no reason now to go back to the u2414 except to get $130 back.
Well some encouraging news.
Through hours of experimenting I think I have finally fixed the issue. Maybe this will help someone else in the same boat. What finally did it was using guru3ds display driver uninstaller, removing all registry instances with ccleaner, reverting to an older version of CCC (14.4) and swapping out the HDMI cable for a DVI to HDMI.
For now, scaling is working. If I put the desktop into 1920x1080 it will give me the black bars on top and bottom, likewise when playing SC2 in 1920x1080. With this issue resolved I figure for the extra ~$130 I spent on these panels over the u2414 I might as well keep these as I can use the 16x10 res while browsing etc but still have the ability to put it into the native res of the u2414 if I want to now that scaling is working.
One thing is for sure though, I will try to avoid using HDMI to HDMI for PC monitors as long as I can.
@hellrazerxtc - Yellow tint: Try setting the Preset Modes to Custom Color. I found standard mode was different for color on 1 of 3 monitors. However Custom Color seems the same for them all. Another thing to try is go into the menu and reset color settings. Also do a factory Reset in menu under "others" . I had one monitor that had a yellow tinge and resetting everything helped. It seemed somehow related to coming back from sleep. Its working fine now though.
Hi xnaron, thanks for the suggestion. I tried what you told me but it's still has yellow. I'm going to exchange for another one again...
Bummer. I hope you get a better one. One thing you may want to do is try swapping the cables on them and see if it is a monitor thing or color profile. (that may or may not be a good test depending on how windows assigns them.) I would go in and check that you have the right color profile setup. I see real problems with both displays. It's look equal dreadful. Is it possible to work on such displays? Or it's not so bad in the real life?I think the reason why it has a yellow tint is due to light bleeding. It's set at 28 brightness
Above: All black screen in a darkened room.
As usual we also tested the screen with an all black image and in a darkened room. A camera was used to capture the result. The camera showed there was pretty much no backlight leakage here at all. A very slight amount was detected along the upper left hand edge, but it was barely noticeable at all. A pleasing result from the U2415 here.
that's really strange, as the TFTCentral review reported almost no bleeding on U2415
Taking into account half the average G2G response time at 4.3ms ('Normal' Response Time setting), we can estimate that there is ~7.7 ms of signal processing lag on this screen. This is very low and should not present any problems for gaming, even playing fast FPS games.

- Backlight bleed on the U2415 is more uneven, with a clearly brighter bottom right corner, plus areas around the frame generally.
I've added pictures in a link above.
It's interesting video. And thanks for the picture.I've added pictures in a link above.
One thing to keep in mind is that there is a difference between backlight bleeding and IPS glow. The u2415's have the least amount of bleed and glow of all the monitors I have tried. I am extremely happy with them and I think for the price they are one of the best panels out there right now.
I don't have many monitors to compare but given your description, I feel mine is not a good example (pics linked above) so it might be worth swapping to see if I get a better one?
To be clear, I meant swapping my U2415 for another U2415 to see if it's better
I think the reason why it has a yellow tint is due to light bleeding. It's set at 28 brightness
For those with yellow tinting, the u2414h also had this problem and it's a defect. I went through 3 returns directly through Dell before I got a good one that didn't have yellow tint or bad bleeding. Dell was great and paid the shipping to and from every time.
$25 credit to keep this? F' that, those displays are broken in my eyes. I wouldn't even accept them at 50% credit.
I am pretty sure the yellow tint is the result of factory calibration. It is possible to get rid of the yellow tint if you switch to preset "Custom Color" mode. Then adjust the RGB settings. Usually you will just need to lower R and G (mid 90's). On my u2415's 3 of mine have no yellow tinge in Custom Color mode. I had lower R to 98 on one of them to line up with the other 2. Other than that they all match. I got 2 replacement u2415's and they required significant R and G lowering (lowish 90's) to match the other 3.
If it is possible for us to somehow do adjust the factory calibration I think we could fix it. Maybe through a service menu? Anyone know how to get into the service menu?
It was the monitor. I tried everything to try and get rid of the yellow. Custom color profiles, tweaking RGB channels on both GPU and monitor, tried it on different computers, different cables, every color mode including the pre-calibrated sRGB, etc. The entire screen had a yellow tint and it was impossible to get a clear and pure white. A replacement fixed it and you could clearly see a huge difference in the colors side by side. If you Google around, quite a few people had the problem.
I picked up a U2415 recently and noticed on a pure white background that the upper corners tend to be a bit darker than the rest if the screen. Does anyone else notice this?
While I won't be staring at a white screen all day, these darker corners/edges do seem to even when browsing the web.
I haven't bought a monitor in a long time so I'm not sure if that this is par for the course for edge lit monitors or not. My previous CCFL Samsung did not seem to suffer from this but that monitor is old and making all sorts of noise now.
