Michigan Joins List Of Tesla-Hating States

lol @ banning a seller, like telling samsung they are no longer allowed to sell TV's in your state. Good news is these kind of tactics always backfire. All this did was just further enrage people and raise distrust in their gov't and corporate lobbying and raise awareness. Even the most dimwitted individuals know whats happening here, and it doesnt help their case that car dealers are one of the most hated businesses on earth. Tesla will find a way, and when they do it will be locked in and be much more detrimental to dealers than it is now. They probably should have just ignored this and hoped that people wouldnt really care for Tesla that much, now they've simply shown their cards at how utterly terrified they are of Tesla, which will give pause to anyone who stops to study the situation and wonder why.

Well your analogy is wrong, it's more like telling Samsung they cannot open their own brick and mortar store and sell their own products directly.

Most people will not be informed or care about this, not yet atleast since the price of their models are above the median income levels of the average person, and the average idiot has no idea why he/she's voting for who they are.

You're not exactly dealing with decent people when you buy a car at a dealership. Once you realize they are scum of the earth, instead of being upset about it you can scorn them and insult them and have fun with it. It's mostly failures at life trying to squeeze you for every last dollar. Example? I bought a used '12 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the fuckin morons tried to make me pay for delivery fees - $800....Right.... so at first I was polite about it and tried to explain to them that thru their own paper work, it shows that it was a vehicle that was originally delivered to them and leased out by their own dealership, therefore the original leasee purchaser already paid for that fee, came back after the lease and sitting on the lot now. There's no way in hell I am paying that fee (among other things). The idiot wouldn't budge so I told him straight up "You're a moron, I'm out" in front of all the other customers. 3 days later I get a call back, minus all the added BS on the purchase price.

That's true...but then again, expecting other people to look out for your interests is a bit unrealistic--they're looking out for theirs, after all. You did well enough, it appears. I think the main point is that a local dealership has to pay huge bank lot fees just to keep cars on its lot so that you and I can come around and test-drive one. In many cases, local car dealerships also have to charge local sales tax, too. They employ people who also pay taxes, etc. How's it fair to force other car dealerships to maintain local offices but let Tesla off the hook--the very fact that Tesla doesn't want to do that should indicate just how expensive it is.

Yea, if Tesla was required to open local dealerships then you'd see exactly how expensive one could be in comparison with other makes...;)

I question why I need a dealership at all ... as the last two times I have purchased a car I knew far more about the vehicle than the guy who was selling it. It was quite comical to watch him frantically flipping through a binder to try to educate himself on the vehicle he was selling.

So like that means the Coke brothers are evil because they're rich.

No, they are not evil because they are rich.

There are plenty of rich people who are not evil.

They are evil because they try to use their wealth to amplify their voices and give themselves an undue influence over the political process in order to further increase their wealth and further enforce the downward spiral of income inequality where a very few live in opulence and a vast majority are barely at subsistence level.

In other words they're evil because they give money to political causes they agree with which, in turn, they think will benefit their lives.

Good thing nobody else does that.

No, the wealthy still has to walk softly around politicians who can turn on them at any time - see Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

The two lone warriors who have not yet been corrupted by big money, and are actually fighting for the people.

(Or at least have been able to maintain that image)

Not that Tesla isn't junk and Musk is a psycho wackjob, but still I stand up for their constitutional right to sell their perfectly legal shit.

I don't know what you are on. Elon Musk is one of the most admirable men in american business, and the Tesla? Well, it is the only american car I would even consider buying unlike that GM/Ford/Chrysler garbage. :p

When their donations result in such a corrupting and negative influence on our country, there is no other way of seeing them than evil.

Most people on the left would like to do away with campaign donations all together, but because right wing extremist legal fights, like Citizens United they have had to face setbacks in that noble quest, and for the time being are forced to stoop to the same low leve, or be completely drowned out by the likes of the Koch brothers, and other corrupting oligarchic influences.

If I never hear the "I need to discuss your offer with my manager" line while I am forced to wait for no reason again, it will be too soon.

I would personally be overjoyed if all the dealerships in america were burned to the ground!

Last time I bought a car, I was more assertive.

Told the sales person straight up, I wasn't going to play his game. Here's what I am willing to offer, here's what I want for my tradein, I don't want your financing, and I won't accept any counter offers. I'll give you 5 minutes to discuss it with whomever you want, until I walk out the door.

Those sly disgusting car sales people didn't know what to do with me at first, and I wound up leaving a few dealerships in a row, until I finally found a dealer that wasn't going to play games with me, and actually sold me a car he traded for off the lot of one of the dealers I had walked out of :p

I should not have to feel like an asshole in order to not get ripped off when buying a car.

The sooner dealerships are gone, and cars have a firm sticker price, with no haggling, the better. I despise middle men, especially when they are as slimy as car salesmen.

I feel more comfortable talking to lawyers and the IRS for crying our loud.

You're seeing the right-wing as evil. Good thing that's not fanatical or anything.

See I hate this fuckin argument, the idea that because dealerships failed to fight taxation on their end everyone else should be subjected to the same ass raping too. The solution is for the dealerships to start a new fight to earn the kind of freedom Tesla has. If their business model is too encumbered by fee's then they need a new fuckin business model, not bring everyone else down to their level. Let Tesla set the new precedent for how they can operate and then evolve.

It's like being sympathetic to coal miners when they lose their jobs to green energy. You know what? You shouldnt be mining coal then.
