Use code: SEPTEM-BEROFF-ER25XX

I'm hoping that this isn't a repost but if not then $37.49 seems to be a good deal. Game looks like it should be pretty fun!

49.99 on steam pretty good deal not going to bite though cause not a big LOTR fan.

Early reviews are giving this game high scores so at that price it is a steal; however there is a season pass and the code works for that as well.

It does but Steam has the season pass for $17.49, on GMG it would be $18.75 with the code.

What got me was the enemy/ally system that they put into place. Othewise I don't think I would have jumped on it either.

I picked this up from BB, with their Gamer's Club Unlocked it's only $40 and you get another $10 reward certificate with pre-order. My copy actually shipped already, should have it in the next few days.

The game itself looks pretty cool though, like a mix of AC and Batman franchises set in Middle Earth with a lot more gore mixed in. Needed something to showcase the new equip and this game certainly looks like it has tons of eye candy.

I'm not much of one either but this game is pretty stellar. Its actually playable without really needing to care that it happens to be LOTR lore. The graphics are eye popping, the mo-cap (motion capture) is some of the best I've seen, the voiceover/lip movement sync is some of the best I've seen, there's an upgrade/skill tree that comes with XP, side quests, the action/combat is more fun than what I remember of the Batman games, and I'm enjoying killing Orcs way more than I should. The game is solid and extremely polished.

Is the as brutal as the Dark Souls series, or is this more along the lines of Assassins Creed?

Somewhere in between. You can get into some pretty big fights that require you to pay constant attention but it's not Dark Souls.

I bit on this deal and I'm glad I did. $37.50 for a high quality game at release is a steal, especially considering most console owners are paying $60. I hooked this up to my 70 inch TV and play it with an XBox controller and it plays well (though it's difficult for me to aim the bow well as I'm not used to aiming with a controller).

I agree that the combat is fun, and it's somewhat easy at first. It starts becoming more difficult after the first couple hours as they introduce more ranged enemies (think fighting 20 orcs with 5 of them taking pock shots with spears at you) and due to the fact that there's absolutely no way to regen health in combat (so far anyways). I've just started running into the shielded dudes and they seem a bit more difficult. The carrabor (spelling) are pretty tough too imo, but once you realize you just need to go vertical and mind control them it's not bad. I've only died twice and both times it was to a pack of carrabor with a few orcs attacking me too.

Look through your Runes I found one that gives me 33% health when you do a successful Drain or Brand on an enemy; difficult to do in mob combat but it works with a little planning.

I'll wait till they can include this game and two others with a 980ti bundle.

I've gotten to play it for a few hours and I have to say that it's pretty fun and runs quite well in crossfire. The caveat being that you can't (or at least I couldn't) use catalyst 14.9. I had to stay on 14.4 otherwise as soon as I tried to load the game it would freeze the system and I'd have to perform a hard reset. Other than that I'm running around 40-65 frames per second with everything maxed at 1440p. That's with stock clocks on two Sapphire Tri-X 290s.

Definitely worth the $37.50 in my book!

First night I played I was wowed by the graphics and fluid animation and everything. Second night I am completely sucked in by the combat system, it has grown on me by leaps and bounds, there's a depth to managing a mob strategically and taking out the important guy(s) while keeping everyone else at bay. The lack of health regen is actually a good mechanic since if you were invincible it would just be boring and easy to lose interest.

I'm reminded somewhat of Tomb Raider - not in the gameplay similarities but in the sense that I went in skeptical about the high reviews, then started playing and thought "okay not bad", then playing even further and discovering new layers that continued to unfold to make me really appreciate it.

You can't go wrong with this one. I recommend a controller though.

snagged !

thanks OP and DASHIT

first game I have bought since BF4 and the last Batman

You did not, there is a new Code since its a new month. It worked for me!!! Still 37.50

Get the game, take your mind off the bills :) But skip the season pass and buy it later - there are always 25% off GMG codes running, no real urgency to get the season pass except for a couple minor perks like some extra unlocked challenges and a few missions.

I'd still recommend the season pass eventually though, maybe closer to DLC time. Game is awesome, like a Grand Theft Assassin's Batman.

I was hoping this would be as brutal as DS, but alas.... Maybe I will pick it up to kill time....

Well, Dark Souls is Dark Souls, and not much else is really going to compare except maybe Lords of the Fallen. But to look at this game through a DS lens and dismiss it on lack of similarity would be to miss out on a fairly fun experience. It is definitely not a "mash A button to progress" game, you actually do have to strategize a bit and know when to run when you're overwhelmed, get a feel for "surfing" a mob meaning knowing how many orcs you can take on at your given (power) level without getting overwhelmed. If you just run into a large group in a stronghold and start mashing attack without any thought you'll get your ass handed.

Here's a thought: you know all those cool backstab animations in Dark Souls, this game has sword execution animations in droves. Killing shit is VERY satisfying in SoM.

Sigh. I bit last night and got the pack with the SP.

Figured, if I'm going to fuck myself financially, might as well just get it all over with in one swoop. 25% off is hard to knock on a launch title.

Just that since my wife walked out on me to take a dream job out of state, money has been.... tight. Scary tight. But I sure could use something to mentally distract myself and FFXIV just isnt cutting it anymore.

I'll download it tonight and dig out the XBOX controller for the weekend and pray I can find my old Arkham Asylum skills again.

DO i need a xbox controller or KB/M is fine?
KB/M is fine. If you've played any Arkham game with KB/M then you should be comfortable with the controls in this game. TB says that beyond the one-button-to-rule-them-all for world interactions, the KB/M controls are quite good for a 3rd-person action game.

Really annoying how that is. I use the Xbox-360 controller and I'm not super used to it (I don't play using it a lot) and the real time button presses are very hit or miss for me as I try to remember where the X button is. TB was right about the one button for multiple actions too, I tried to "drop down" while in stealth and sneaking around and ended up jumping down to the ground in a stronghold with 10 orcs around for a "stealth drain." They also do the same thing the most recent ACs did where they combine the run button and the climb-stuff button. Frustrating when you just want to run but not climb up everything.

Also, does anyone else think the difference between the dodge-based enemies (the guys with the shields) and the parry based enemies is pretty big? Parry seems extremely forgiving in terms of pressing it in time, even mid swing, but the dodge I've been hit by even pressing it the instant the prompt pops up.

I've had a itch to go back and reroll in DS, but maybe I will just pick this up since I have next week off...

Well the guys with shields you want to jump over with A and then hit 'em in the back. But in general for the dodge based enemies - like Coragors for example - yes the window to hit the button does seem smaller. But I dont see that as a bad thing. If anything, the parry window is too big (ezmode).

I only meant there's no urgency to the season pass in the sense that they haven't announced their DLC expansion plans yet. You can't go wrong with the SP for this game if the base game is anything to go by. I'll be getting it.

And you figure that with 25% off, you're getting the game + season pass for less than the price of console version of the main game. So there's that.

Really enjoying this game, I think it looks fantastic with the HD texture pack.

Plays amazing with a GTX 980 and ROG Swift G-Sync panel and Xbox One controller, just a great experience overall so far!

Sucks they don't allow you to use account credit and the voucher. Mine was down to 17.99 :(

Got it none the less, too expensive on consoles atm.

You can't use credit in conjunction with a voucher, I believe. Which is kind of bullshit to be honest...I was a big fan of GMG at first but I haven't actually bought anything from them in some time.
