I've been out of the game for a while and I'm gonna be building a new rig in about a month or two.

Was wandering if you guys think its worth waiting for the 800 series or pulling the trigger on a 770. thanks in advance for any constructive replies! :D

Depends on your budget and if you are satisfied with your current gaming experience. The top line 800 series is still several months to a year off, maybe longer.

If your not happy now, look at some of the deals going on for a radeon 290. Not much more than a 770.

Are you building a second rig or upgrading the rig in your sig? If your upgrading I would say keep what you have and overclock that cpu. Should tide you over

and it'll probably be on 28nm which will give us a boost of 30% max at the high-end from the 780 Ti and probably less mixed with power efficiency at the lower 800 tiers.

Budget is the key on this one. I wouldn't bother with the 770 at all if you had the money for it. The extra $100 for a 780 will make a huge difference. Most overclock incredibly well and will give you an even bigger performance boost closer to a TItan/780 Ti.

Even when we were discussing 20nm people were speculating 30% over a 780 Ti.
It's not like either company is going to double their performance of their previous flagship at reasonable prices.

Upgrading from a 670 to a 770 / 780 is stupid when the new cards are 6mo away, but that's just my opinion.

I agree, but not because of the distance, simply the price for performance wouldn't make much sense. At this point you can't trust anything about the next-gen cards its just too complicated for anyone to really speculate.

Upgraded my 660ti to a 780ti. Sold the 660ti for $200 and bought an open box 780ti for $640 at micro-center. All I can say is WOW. The performance increase at 1600p and 1080p is as good or better than I thought it would be. I don't think I'm needing an 880 now as more frames than 60fps is not needed. I think if you upgraded to a 780ti or a 290X you would be saying the same thing too. Just find a good deal on a top of the line and sell your old card on ebay.
