Wow tank about the power of showing someone.

First i bought my pc in my friend store last week to play some games on it. My intentions where not to show them but to actually entertain myself. 2 customer regular hardcore console fan that always kinda blasted me in gaming conversation came in. They see that i'am using my xbox controller and then they see the graphics. You should have seen their face, it was priceless.

First they tought all xbox games where 1080p because it was written on the box so i proceed to explain them how it work.

Then how easy it is to plug on a hdmi display.

Showed them the awesome prices in steam and other..

In short one of them already ordered he's parts lol

Heh... I had this happen a few years ago. I told him he should buy Civilization V. That game ended up being his gateway to Steam. Now he has a Steam games list about 200 titles long and built a rig last year that can run anything.
 
Same for me with 2 guys and BF4. In retrospect, probably not the best game to break them in on, but they're definitely happy with their PC builds :)
 
Sometimes people have to see it for themselves to realize why the moniker, PC Master Race, is true.

You realise just then the power of publicity. Lots of People dont know. Not everyone cares for better graphics but those who do need to be educated to make à choice in what they buy.

Those guys are so into console that they didnt even knew pc gamer didn't have to pay to play games online. They tought it had a subscribion base thing like xbox live or psn, i mean Wow. Ms and Sony did a good job brainwashing them.. Lolllllllllll

Well done on the conversion. I agree the lack of a PC "authority" is both the system's greatest strength (much more freedom to do as we please) and its greatest weakness (lack of advertising).

Huh? This isn't religion.. you don't need to "convert" people. Also, nobody asked you or expected you to 'do your part'. Gone are the days when PC gamers were simply just guys/gals who enjoyed playing with a keyboard and mouse and pushing the boundries a bit further.. and here are the days of people new to the platform who have this complete arrogance and elitism and actually think that a PC is some godly device. Gaming platforms are just mediums, and remain a choice for consumers. You could argue that technically you 'can' get a better experience in 'some' games on PC, but the same could be argued the other way around.

Do yourself a favor, do all of us a favor and just play games instead of trying to exhault yourself and your gaming platform. Threads like this make me embarrassed to be a PC gamer.

I see your point, but this thread seems far more light hearted than your average "pc master race" thread. The OP just opened up someone's eyes to the wonderful world of pc gaming. So just breathe, relax, and let the OP have his moment and good feeling from performing his deed :)

Agreed. Don't look at it as converting someone from console to PC, but rather from someone who doesn't see the PC as an attractive gaming platform to someone who does. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't see where the OP's ripping anyone's consoles from their fingers. Or even trying particularly hard to sell anyone on the PC platform, either.

I can't say I've ever 'converted' anyone. I know guys who've seen what a high-end PC can do, graphically, and are vaguely interested, but are still totally content with what they're getting from their consoles.

No big deal.

Or maybe its just nice that he can get the same quality gaming experience for less money, have unlimited options to choose from hardware, updgrades, and operating systems.

Its not a religion but it is valuable to bring more people in, it results in better game development for all PC gamers, lower costs for us all.

Its not like one console vs the other doesn't break down into a religious flame ware ever thread either.

It happens when buggy PC games are released. Saints Row 2 is arguably better on console. I can't run Split/Second on PC without getting the save game deleted every 30 minutes, a well known bug that was never patched. There are other examples out there, you get the idea. Doesn't happen very often though. PC almost always wins.

Honestly, it is good to see more folks discover PC Gaming. That said, I think my favorite gaming time was the Nintendo 8 Bit I had and my Amiga 500. (I gamed for hundreds of hours on those machines.)

I have one person friend (who happens to be my best friend) who will just not make the switch.

Tried all I could when we moved from PS3 to PS4 for Battlefield 4. He just would not do it for some reason.

His brother and I were already here. Its not that I don't enjoy PS4, nor is it the controls, or anything really. It is that most everything else I am in to now days is on the PC. (Dota, Hearthstone, D3, etc).

BF4 is what he likes and it is our way of staying in touch a few nights week.

I "converted" a friend, who enjoys PC gaming quite a lot over what he was used to with the 360. He still hasn't switched from controller to KB/M for FPSes. Supposedly something to do with "ease of use". I call BS whenever he says it... Maybe the same for your friend? Too ingrained with the belief that ease of use trumps better controls?

Might need to find a way to convince our friends that KB/M are the way to go for FPSes. It's tough to sell, especially when my friend has a Xbox One & plays the newest FPSes on it just as much as his PC.

I remember years ago having a friend over to play the PC version of Halo 2. He was playing multiplayer with a controller and was shocked at being killed by someone who turned around on a dime when he was coming from behind. At first he didn't understand how someone could be turning so fast :rolleyes:.
 
I still laugh when I recall the days of console gamers claiming they'd own anyone using a KBM with a controller. Even a moderately competent chimp with a KBM could massacre someone using a controller.
