With the recent influx of cryptocurrencies there has been a rush of new coins. I started out on LTC but the difficulty rising and my payouts getting smaller i decided to switch over to FTC. Right now its been pretty stale at an average of .55 per coin. I can get about 40 coins a day with my rigs, alot better than the 1 a day with ltc,yes i know ltc is worth more, but in the end it is barely more profitable than ftc if going for a month. Anyone else FTC mining or trading? What is your take on this coin?

FTC is potentially more profitable, but it would only take a few big whales selling off to severely cripple this coin. It's quite fragile as far as I can see.

Higher the risk, higher the payoff. No magic ball unfortunately.

Yeah, thats what im afraid of. Its still fairly new and even reached a dollar a coin a few weeks ago. Even after a 51% attack its still around and being bought/sold.

I am setting up my 2 7950's to mine SXC and FTC(Plus some other alt coins as backups) while my two mining rigs mine LTC. Reason behind that is I don't really want to throw all my chips behind LTC. If all the sudden it crashes with the current difficulty alot of wasted investment there. Granted the same thing could happen to a lot of these alt coins. I started mining SXC and I can see that taking off if enough marketing happens and some adult websites pick it up as a viable alternate currency even if they only take it as a gimmick due to the name it can't hurt. Although due to the name it could also have the opposite affect and cause adult business to run from it. Who knows.

FTC seems fairly stable though while I have been keeping an eye on it through BTC-e. Fluctuating between .0005-.0006 BTC conversion. When I get more coins I plan on trying to day trade this coin a little. Sell at .0006 and buy once it drops below .00055.

I started mining FTC a couple days ago just because even though it's less profitable than LTC at the moment, realistically I'm never going to make a lot of money by mining unless the coins I have jump in value. I get maybe 1.5 LTC per week because I mine with my desktop which I have to use for things other than mining. I can get a lot more FTC in that time. It's just a gamble.

I guess I feel like it's a lot more likely that FTC will jump to $1 in the near future than it is that LTC will jump up to $65 or so. It's almost like trading penny stocks. Though really, we're all just guessing here. I mean, everyone is hoping to get in on the next BTC in hopes of being able to retire overnight. I would be happy if I could earn enough to recoup the cost of my second 7850 and maybe get a new monitor at some point.

Yeah I think the whole being an instant millionaires has gone to a lot of peoples heads, mine included. While it would be nice it probably wont happen,at least not for a few years.

I look at mining this way. I can pay off some upgraded computer gear, sell it and make a small profit. If I can sell enough to cover my costs and keep mining I will do so and the rest is just gravy. Didn't get into this with any thoughts of it letting me retire early.

If i could pays bills with just mining and selling month to month id be happy.

I'm mining around 7-8 FTC a day on my 7850. What pools are people using and what hardware? I mine on wemineftc.com and use a XFX Core Edition and can pull around 375-390 KH/s (no errors) with I set to 19

Getting 5-6 coins per day 250~300 KH/s on 460+560ti(pulling 300watts according to killawatt) while waiting for my 290s to arrive. Mining at give-me-coins.com.

I got 1 FTC in 4 hours of mining on one 6870 @ 920mhz core and 1100mhz memory at 170kh/s. Was mining at 11 intensity at the time. Might have to go back and mine FTC tonight.

Wtf how? I only get like 16 on a 7870 @ 1.1Ghz.

EDIT: I'm on https://ftc.d2.cc EDIT2: Looks like a config on my end.

Using a config file I cooked up and my 6970 is watercooled and OC'd to 950mHz core and 1450memory. Averages out to 450-500kHash, with intensity set to 18....which makes my rig basically unresponsive in the GUI due to lag. FTC is very sensitive to intensity, and depending on the work packets kHash can very massively between intensity settings. I.e. when I first started I=13 I was only getting 70-80kHash, set it to I=18 and 400-500kHash. Now typing and using the machine at I=11 and getting 150-ish kH.

UIsing wemineFTC pool. Helps that the difficulty factor has dropped in the last few days.

I don't mine anymore, but my buddies that I roomed with back in college do, and they've both switched to FTC. They're doing fairly well with it, too. The hope is that the price per coin will go up even a little, which would mean sizable profits. We did the math though and it's already profitable at current rates.

I started up some of my old mining hardware. It looks like I could make a handful of coins a day, but it's barely profitable for me since I have older Nvidia cards. I'm still on the fence about whether or not I should do it and hope for the price to spike.

What crypto-market is everyone using, I use BTC-e.com but I want to start doing USD/FTC and not have to convert my LTC into BTC than BTC into FTC which is a pain in the butt to do.

That would require a real job lol.

This is at best supplemental and ever changing high risk income for some people.

Well yeah i already got one of those lol,but if it could add to my funds that would be great.

Dont think there is any usd/ftc sites yet. Im just buying btc from coinbase then sending it to my btc-e account and exchanging it for ftc.

Yeah, looks like I am doing something similar

exchanging ftc for btc than cashing it out.

When enough people are buying and selling FTC (so when the trade volume is regularly high enough), I'm sure they will add a USD/TFC exchange on BTC-e.

Yup, I'd be pretty sure they are just waiting for a healthy sustained volume to add euro /usd trades.

Agreed.
Its funny, I want to get at least 5 more LTC's than I think I am going to switch full-tilt, both CPU and GPU over to FTC.

So far I'm up over 20FTC on just my 6970...if I could get watercooling fittings I could adda 2nd 6970

Just CPU mining so far on FTC, I got 29 FTC atm.

Litecoin, Ive only been at it for around a week now, 1.5 LTC on GPU, but it DOES NOT run 24/7. If it did, I would probably have 2.5

it has been pretty stable though at around .0005 btc.

If anything, I'd say that's a weekend hiccup. Weekend prices are generally lower for alt coins.

Also, one thing to note is that stable .0005BTC, even if it never changes, is only as stable as BTC/USD is.

its been at that price for a good part of the week, but hasn't gotten much higher. But yeah i feel like all the alt coins are pretty dependent on btc prices right now until they start getting accept in more places.

I was going to put my 4M/has worth of rigs into FTC mining, but I've been exploring the oddball coins and will probably mine for a week or two on things like GlobalCoin, SexCoin, WorldCoin.

difficulties are in the ranged of 1 (yes 1) to 44. for the above mentioned. I think I can mine something like 2500/coins per day in Globalcoin at the current difficulties.

Odds are it won't take off, but for 1 day worth of mining and 3 dollars worth of electricity, why not take a chance?

I was mining FTC for the last week, I like them long term - they've survived a lot. I think they're going to be good for long term, but right now, who knows.

Right now, GlobalCoin, WorldCoin, Spots seem to be the hot ones. Waiting for some hardware to come in so I can actually get into the altcoin mining thing and see what happens long term. I totally missed the boat with Bitcoin, and Litecoin. Odds are it won't happen, but if it does with the altcoins, I'm going to try to be ready this time. Or at least have fun doing it.

Speaking of Spots, are you, or anyone else for that matter, familiar with how they are mined? It looks like you can't use CGMiner for this one. I did use a spots calc to try to determine the profitability and given the numbers the calculator gave me, something must be different in the way it determines hash rate meaning it must not be mined like other Scrypt or SHA-256 coins. Is it possibly CPU mined?
