The Dell S2740L and Dell S2440L look amazing to me and am looking to buy the 24 inch one for around 220 Euro. I believe they have the same specs and technology, just the size is the difference correct?

Could you share some other glossy IPS monitors of this quality? Thanks.

I'd grab the Dell s2340m/s2340l (whichever is cheaper in your country) or the Acer linked above, which is pretty much the same thing. For the higher PPI and because the 23" ah-ips glossys don't have the annoying edge-to-edge glass front - also, price.

Had to get to get Acer myself. There are nice Youtubes of the item. $130 is a joke compared to the $600 I paid for a 20" NEC 20WMGX2 SIPS back in 2006 (before panel makers were found guilty in court of price collusion). I could get almost 5 Acers for that. I'd like a 27" but for what they cost I would rather get a big" TV.

Unfortunately the Acer doesn't sell in Europe so I decided to go with the Philips Gioco 3d 238g4dhsd. 1080p ah-ips, passive 3d, good contrast in reviews I read and most important to me, glossy. I already received one but I had to sent it back because the AC was bad and it popped immediately. Should be getting the replacement today, I'll let you know how it fares.

Buying a monitor is a pain. Even good makers have bad units. The last time I was seriously monitor shopping in 2008 it took 6 monitors to be left with the final 2 that I still have. I returned one NEC and 3 Dells. I didn't return them over the random dead pixel either but some obviously rotten flaws. I hold my breathe opening the box on monitors lol

The Philips Gioco 3d 238g4dhsd is very nice! I am impressed with the colors and good contrast. Very sharp definition and no afterimage effects in gaming. Just tried Batman Arkham origins and it ran very well on this beautiful screen. I am wondering though if I should have gone with a smaller display. I will be keeping the screen very close to my face and was wondering if I should go for a 17-20 inch display instead of a 23 inch. If someone could recommend a good 1920x1080 or preferably 1920x1200 glossy ips in those smaller sizes, I might consider the trade in. I am satisfied with this display however a greater ppi would be nice honestly. Also consider that I paid about 200 euro including tax and shipping for this Monitor as that's about the amount of money that I am looking to spend max. Let me know, txs.

Overall though I must say after adjusting colors etc. last night that this is an amazing display. I like it more than my Pioneer Kuro for colors and it has an amazing contrast, comparable to the kuro. Great buy for 200 euro.

After tinkering with the settings and setting the screen at least 4 feet from my eyes, I got to say the Passive 2d to 3d conversion is not bad at all. I am actually enjoying watching 2d->3d pics and 2d->3d movies with it. I'll try some gaming with it as well soon.

Far be it for me to reply just for this, but actions like that are exactly why there's a minimum post count to get into those forums. It's all about trust.

On topic, the S2740L etc. displays look stunning in person, having seen them be used. I'd highly recommend them if you want the bright gloss effect but a decent accurate display as per other Dells.
