LOL! Perhaps we'll see a "does Nvidia ruin PC gaming" soon from TR? :p The whole session was basically about how to put Nvidia only features in games ...

Next session starts soon. After yesterdays session was over, the Nvidia rep stated that they will reveal something great and "unexpected" for gamers, so I am looking forward to this one! :)

Oh TR can be entertaining if anything sometimes. Although I was a bit surprised nvidia is choosing to continue with their proprietary features program, it just seems like it will be very expensive for them to maintain given how the gaming landscape is changing. Maybe they feel they have little choice though, a bit like the gaming bundles.

We will see what the "surprise" will be...

G-Sync

And GTX 780 TI.

G-Sync is pretty huge. Being able to make the monitor the slave of GPU instead of the other way around would affect gameplay on all games, not needing special game implentation. I would guess that lower framerate will be less of a problem, giving longer life to GPU's already bought. Today was worth viewing! :)

Shadowplay might be interesting for some. I see that AMD Raptr already have a Twitch broadcast plugin, but personally I couldn't care less, so I haven't tried it.

4K surround is something I think many on WSGF will love at least! :D

best card ever, ... I have two titans. FU nvidia. I'll wait for the reviews.

G-Sync sounds like it could be really interesting. anxious to see details on the 780Ti.

You know, I'm getting sick and tired of both companies announcing GPUs without giving us some bloody specs! "Cool, quiet, and powerful" and "Best GPU ever" are not enough to make me want to wait and see before upgrading. Stop this PR bullshit and give some real info.

usually i'd have more resilience to it, but AMD's been stringing us a long for a few weeks and i'm getting fed up with it too.

G-Sync is technology regrettably about 10 years late.

I don't like this being restricted to NVIDIA cards, however. This is something display vendors and GPU vendors should have implemented in a purely standard way a hell of a long time ago.

anyone worried about the continual progression of proprietary solutions? AMD doing cfx improvements over the pci-e bus, and other things like mantle; Nvidia going inside the montiors with hardware and using closed sdk's...hopefully game devs support all of them as I don't want NVidia only games and AMD only games.

My first impression is all this sounds interesting, but will be rather expen$ive and proprietary.

For the rest since we can't really tell what's what, I will reserve judgement until I can actually see something... anything really.

I agree with all the rest, but how the hell is that a problem?

Yes. In this case, though, a standard, vendor-neutral solution probably would've taken an additional five years of pointless feet-dragging from display vendors. It's a regrettable situation for AMD users that this kind of technology is coming to market this way.

Its probably restricted to Nvidia cards since the card controls refresh instead of the screen. The chip is probably designed to communicate with Nvidia drivers.

But, the idea itself isn't restricted to Nvidia, so AMD could possibly create and use the same tech for their monitor vendors. It will be like we see with 3D vision monitors and AMD HD3D/Tridef monitors. I hope so, because it looks like a "gamechanger". :)

Probably a GK110 with more SMX enabled. GK110 have 16 SMX units. Titan has 14 of 16 enabled, GTX 780 has 12 of 16 enabled. If to go by the performance jump from 780 (12) to Titan (14), its probably a bit limited on how much more performance it will give. Remains to be seen though. :)

Looks like it.

780Ti, didn't see that coming.

Me either, wonder where it will land in price..... I'm sure it won't be cheaper than a 780.....

G-sync seems cool. I've been thinking about picking up a new monitor, guess this is a good reason to hold off for a while.

Shadowplay can be useful to some. It's great that it doesn't affect gpu performance while recording.

You're days away from the 290x launch and a few weeks away from the 780Ti.
If you want the best card for your money, you'll wait.

There's no real reason for LCDs (or any other digital display technology) to have a "refresh rate" The limitation in case of LCDs is pixel response time, not "scan rate".

I guess the limitation was imposed in part for the VGA standard but digital standards shouldn't have that limitation.

Correct. I can understand why it could've taken a few years to get something like that standardized, but it's kind of absurd how little progress has been made on that given how long LCDs have been around and been more than capable of doing this.

with HDMI on consoles, pc's, and laptops, why is vga output even something we talk about or find supported?

GSync has been available for several years on the professional Quadro lineup. It's just now filtering down to consumer level.
