Hey guys, just as the title states I am in the middle of building my first 4P socket F folder and I am having the issue from the title and also shown by the picture.

oVXb1Pxl.jpg

Board was bought with 4x 8216 dual core procs and 8x 2gb ram.

Picked up 4x 2419 hexcore procs which I installed after updating the bios with the dual cores installed and also loading optimized defaults in the bios before switching to the hexcores.

I also tried using 2x hexcores in CPU1 & CPU2 and also tried the closer ram slots without avail.

I also have a H8DME that I have used to confirm the ram and hexcores all work, and have pulled the 2x 2384 QCs from the H8DME and tried booting those on the H8QME and received the same error as the hexcores and what is pictured at the top of the thread.

Any help or advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Those chips you are trying to run are not for 4p, only 2p. You need 8xxx series.

Try and pick up either...

8431, 8435, or 8439. Obviously each step up takes a little more power with the 8439's taking the most.

The 8431 will net you around 175k PPD on the best WU's, for comparison..

All these can be picked up off ebay rather cheap now days...

The 8425HE are hex core and will net you 120-175,000 PPD
And they only use 79 watts, not 115 or 137

I'd like to see some data of those hitting 175k PPD as I was using 4x 8431 and barely hitting 185k PPD on the best WU's. From what I've seenyou'd be looking at much lower than that on the best WU's (8103's?) using 8425HE's... If that's true...really no reason to grab anything more expensive because those are pushing nearly the limits of what youd be getting on an F socket..

EDIT: A 4 Processor F, not some of these giganto 8 processor F's...:D

That boxen is doing around 210K PPD for me on 8102s. :D

You must have more magic then me lol...Think the best I ever had was 200k on an 8102/3...

Glad its working out for you..

No magic - Just threw in an SSD that already had Ubuntu installed and the client setup with The Kraken and let it rip. When I get some more time I'll experiment with tweaking it - it's currently running with all the memory slots installed - I believe you said it goes better with only half? Do you recall % improvement with only half the slots filled?

This is a hex core socket F AMD 8425 x4 = 24 core total 2.1ghz 16gb memory 2 2gb sticks in each cpu section

I just went downstairs and opened HFM benchmark under tools.
These are the only WUs this system has ever folded.

8101 min 28:08------ 116.4k PPD
avg 28:38------ 113.3 PPD

8103 min 21:07------ 179K
avg 21:19------ 176.5k PPD

8104 min 16:41------ 168.4K
avg 17:08------ 161.9K PPD

8105 min 21:01------ 176K
avg 22:33------ 158.4K PPD

Not bad at all. Unless youre scraping for points id probably recommend those then...

I concur those numbers are on point for 8425

no one asked you. go away.

:D

built 2 F systems with these procs so they would be MUCH less power than the 8431 and up, did not disappoint.

you on the other hand, do disappoint

Your PPD disappoints...

Thanks guys for the info.

I ended up picking up some 8423s for about $50 each at 2.0ghz 75W, which should get some similar results to what bill1024 gets with his 8425s.

Ouch...you could have got those a lot cheaper i think. I paid near that for my 4x 8431 about 4 months ago..

It was the best price I could find for 8xxx series hexcore, all the other ones I was finding were almost double the price or more.

I'm not sure if you realize it, but you bought the last of the cheap 8431's back then! I know because I was watching that listing and kept waiting for some more to show up after that, but ended up getting 8425's because there just weren't any listings for a faster chip for less than $100 each!

Recently there's been a guy selling 8439's for $90/each ($85 + $5 shipping). But 8431/8435's and even 8425's have been sitting around $100/each or more.

Damn, that sucks. I actually found a guy with a best offer option. Usually (with older gear) you can get those guys down pretty low.

Its a sign for you guys to start buying G34 cpu's!!

not only could you get them low because it was older gear, but buying 4 at once, think i got my 8425's for $40 each off ebay

The problem was that these guys had all this older equipment that nobody was buying and then suddenly had a bunch of interest and figured that they could jack their prices up. =(

Wait a week or two. People lose interest in things pretty quickly.
