So I just put a new build together and every game I try to play launches in 3d regardless of in game options and I cant figure out how to change it.

I downloaded 8.1 for windows 8 and I think it's effecting my ability to launch the NVidia control panel, it just wont open.

I'm absolutely lost in windows 8 and it might be an easy fix this OS has made me furious over the past few hours trying to figure this out.

Playing on an ASUS VG248QE if that has anything to do with it. Also just updated drivers and everything to the latest,

So are you still unable to open Nvidia control panel? You either disable Steroscopic 3d from the control panel or you can just unistall the 3d driver from add/remove programs.
It wont hurt if you arent planning to use it anyway

I did the same thing (accidentally enabled stereo 3D in NCP) and then wondered why my framerates were crappy AND graphics looked Just Plain Awful, yet GeForce Experience didn't complain. Went to NCP - Stereoscopic 3D Enabled? D'oh - PEBKAC switchology error. (I don't have nVidia 3DVision glasses - if I DID, I could actually use this switch, as my Acer H233H.bmid does support it when used with them. Surprisingly, most of my games support this too.)

Stereoscopic 3D, while nice, puts a great big crimp in framerates. I would ONLY enable it if I were running SLI.
