Its a well known fact that 7970s at there max oc are faster than STOCK 680. 680 overclocked to 1200/7000 is exactly the same as a 7970 at 1200/1600-1700. Depending on the game give or take a frame or two. I had both and any benchmark that doesn't favor 1 or the other is within a frame. In heaven the 680 was about 1 frame faster and my 1340/71-7200 670 was about the same as well (less than a frame difference). A 770 is priced at slightly more than a 7970 and will hold its value longer than a 680 or 7970 and has GPU boost 2.0 which is WAY better for overclocking (although still a lottery). The 1 and only game you'll see an advantage on a 7970 is metro 2033 which scales with higher memory bus. Metro last light isn't as bad for this. Plus if u ever decide to run 2 cards sli is WAY better. Unless amd fixes this frame latency shit. I moved from 2 7950 to 2 670 and the difference is fluidity was night and day. I run 120hz and am not going to use radeon pro to cap my frames just to get smooth gameplay.
