My current build is in my signature and I'm leaning towards an i5. Was wondering if there is any case for getting an i7 instead. The PC is going to be used for gaming and converting video files. My budget is up to 200 for the proc.

OP, you should probably do a post in the General Hardware subforum and answer the questions in the sticky.

It's usually best not to say you want to spend X on the CPU, Y on the motherboard, etc. Instead look at the total amount you want to spend so that funds can be allocated most efficiently.

Seeing as you need a motherboard it makes sense to go Haswell with this build. 4670k instead of 3570k, or 4770k instead of 3770k. If you were just gaming I'd go with the 4670k, you will see an advantage for the 4770k doing the video.

No, I meant i7-4770K. This one is a better processor for video and multi-threaded apps. The i5-4670K is not multi-threaded.

You've lost me. You recommended a 3570K then a 4770K, but i was suggesting that if you're going to recommend a 3570K you probably meant a 4670K.

I'm sorry, You asked for a processor for $200. That's why I suggested you the 3570K that goes for $189.00 which is around your $200 budget.

But then I see that you do video, that's why I suggested you the 4770K that is not in your budged range, but at the same time is not that much. Have you considered to get the 12 months payments deal?
