New Silverstone FT02

One more question, from your review I see that you compared both fans at different rpm's. I was wondering if there was any difference between both, at equal rpm's?

This was the only difference per same rpm:
AP182 Review said:
Both the AP182 and AP181 were silent below 500rpm, but from 500rpm to 700rpm the AP182’s sound signature was much more noticeable due to the growl. However, the story changes once you go above 700rpm where the AP182’s sound signature becomes more neutral and does a slightly better job of blending in with the ambient sound.

What do you recommend? Lamptrons FC5v2 and FC-Touch would look great on the FT02, but I'm wondering something is it possible to turn off the light?

Both are solid options. I like physical dials and have an FC5v2. What light are you talking about turning off? The display?

Thx, I'll keep the AP181's then. I find them too loud at minimum, but if they go under 700rpm and are more silent than the ap182's then no point in changing them.
Yes, the display backlight. I generally find them annoying when i need to sleep. I like the easy-to-use dials alot more than a touch interface, but the touch screen would look awesome and match allot better with the FT02.

My FT-02 is still the 2010 one, I read about several versions lately, theres a v1.4 and a v1.7 now.
Which version has the USB3.0 ports?

All of these pictures of FT-02's are making me jealous. I always wanted to get one just because they look so sleek. I could never justify a purchase though since I already have a Corsair 550d, but maybe someday.

I'm getting this case but i don't know what to replace the intake and exhaust fans
Can anyone recommend me ones with more airflow ones with less noise ?

i really wan't to swap out my 650D for this case, but it just costs too much for me to justify it... especially since i will have to leave my pricey fans behind.

On low my stock intake and exhaust fans are incredibly quiet, plus the intake fans are not a common size. Why replace them before you've even heard, or not heard as the case may be, them?

I've read a while ago that replacing the fans would be a good idea for better airflow. Not sure where i can't remember. But i remember that person recommanding to replace the top exhaust fan with 2 fans instead but i can't remember the mm's to replace top fans with ( i think it was 2x 150mm or 160mm? i can't remember could be anywhere ranging 100mm~300mm lol.. that's how unsure i am)

The stock fans are SUPER quiet and my temps are awesome with a 3570K at a moderate 4.2Ghz overclock. Case is super nice. Fiddly to install but a real gem when together.

You don't need to replace the top fan at all. This case's cooling is driven by the bottom fans.

Well thing is someone said the one top 180mm fan can't really handle all that exhaust.. So i got confused.
Well that's good to know if i don't really need to replace it to be almost perfect.
Uh i'm getting an i7 3930k Not sure which motherboard and CPU cooler i should go for. Can you guys recommend me what would work well with the FT02B? (Motherboard/3930k OCing to 4.5/4.6ghz on air cooling would be my ideal goal)

Hello forum members. Just finished my first build and have been running it for a month but have some concerns of awesomeness.

Build is an FT02B-W case of course with an ASROCK z77 extreme 4 mobo, i5 3570k cpu, MSI N660 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 660 2GB, Coolmaster 212 hyper evo, and arctic silver thermal paste used, 8 gigs of corsair DDR3 ram, 120gig SSD, 1t HDD, DVD rom and a 750w HFX corsair PSU to power it all.

Build went great was able to OC to 4.4 and have ran multiple stress tests. MSI afterburner has showed me GPU process in game , mainly play Planetside 2 to test, using OSD and those have seemed stable. Also benchmarks and stress tests on the GPU have ran on ultra settings with tesselation and such and have never broke 80 degrees usually just sits around 60. While gaming GPU temp rarely goes past 40, Getting great FPS all that jazz.

Here is my concern of awesomeness. The fan for the heatsink was loud. VERY loud. Eventually I decided to remove the fan and try all my stress tests. Only one that has concerned me is the CPU using PRIME 95 for an hour all 4 cores went to 80 degrees but after turning off PRIME 95 it only took 5 minutes for all the cores to be 30 or less. At idle they all sit around 20 or less. All my fans are set to low to cause less pressure and heat and the computer is dead silent. My goal with this build was to be silent, cold, and run most everything at 1920 by 1080 with dx11 and high quality when wanted. So far this part of the goal has been met.

I have yet to test the CPU temps in game and plan on doing that sometime this weekend but my concern is this dangerous not having a fan on the heatsink or is this case just awesome enough to do the job with the 181's and the top fan pulling the air out?

If you need any proof of my benchmarks or temperatures just ask and i'll get what I can. Thanks again for any help, suggestions.

Wow you must live somewhere very cold.

If you can run Prime95 without a fan on your CPU and only hit 80, you should be able to game just fine. Prime will heat up your CPU more than gaming will.

Oregon USA and ya it's still raining.

Mainly I was concerned if it's ok to have a heatsink and no fan on it since I can find very little information on the internet saying it's ok. Logic tells me the fans in the case should work though and one doesn't have to be directly attached to the heatsink but looking for clarification on that.

This case rocks!

Got you beat there :D. On my FTO2 I removed all the fans and my CPU temps only get into the 60s. Of course, I'm not overclocking and use a Nofan CPU cooler.

can the ft02 top fan 120mm exhaust handle exhausting 2 way or 3 way sli GTX 780 blowers? on air as well as with a nocuta LE2011 cpu cooler with a 3930k oc'd to 4.6ghz ?

It doesn't need to. A blower fan - one situated at the bottom of the card - exhausts its heat through the second slot cover.

what sort of temps would i probably see on 3 way sli on the ft02 on load ?

60~78c ? air cooling

i'm also thinking of dropping a nocutua LE2011 cpu cooler to cool a 3930k on 4.6ghz

should i be fine with this air cooling set up or is it a bad idea for the ft02 temps?

Anyone installed a 780 inside the ft02 yet?

If so, what about noise and temperatures? :)

I dropped one in my RV02. Temperatures are going to run about 80C because the card will boost itself until it hits a predefined thermal threshold, in this case 80C. You can adjust that inside Afterburner or Precision X.

Noise is more noticeable than my previous GTX 670 Windforce card, but I wouldn't call it loud by any means, just more noticeable than my previous card. Since this case is pretty open at the top, I think any GPU is going to be audible. I only use my PC for gaming, and I game with headphones on, so it's not like I notice the sound.

The blower intake is positioned right atop the middle AP182, so it's certainly a nice match for this case, IMO. And the air that comes out the top is pretty warm, so it seems like pretty decent airflow to me.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the pairing of RV02 and GTX 780. I think I'm going to keep this card for a long time.

Pictures?!

OK, real quick, a low lighting picture—like I said, I'm not exactly the world's greatest photographer. I'm also not sure what you guys expect to learn from this, besides the position of the 780 in my RV02…

gHsVT9y.jpg

Hovers directly over the AP182 and is only a couple inches away. Given the airflow ejecting from the top of my RV02, I'd say it's taking in a pretty good supply of air.

hey guys what's a good psu that would fit the ft02?

i'm doing tri sli 780s with a 3930k oc'd

but i have no idea what psu would fit and be my best for long term psu usage 24/7

any recommendations?

Very tasty.

Even the biggest ATX PSUs will fit. [H] have reviewed a number of high-power PSUs.

I'm using a Corsair 1000 HX PSU in mine. I don't have any weird or quirky clearance issues.

be very careful what motherboard you choose for tri sli in that case. if your motherboard doesnt have the first pci-e slot at the very top, and then two more equally spaced, it wont fit.

That's not correct. The FT02 has 7 slots. You can get away with the x16 slot being the second.

It'll fit, but the second and third cards will not have a buffer slot in between them. Which sucks, and is my primary gripe about this case (was, I decided to purchase something smaller instead).

I got my DEMCifilter custom size magnet filter for my FT-02 today to attach it on the bottom intake from the outside. Just wanted to share it took 10 days to deliver (from south africa to europe) and its a really good quality fine mesh filter.

Gutted mine for the last time last night.
Eventually a leaky res and I always had poor performance for some reason.
Moving to a Lian Li pc 90.

In the glory days.

Icky tube colour from VERY persistant Ice Dragon coolant.
Still love the case and will view this thread in time to come.

Hello,
Is that a 180x2 radiator down there?
Do you need to drill new mounting holes to mount the rad that way?

Why would you need to hard mount it there? I just placed mine on the bottom. The lip of the motherboard tray keeps things pretty snug though.

I thought the rad may stay loose if I don't mount it to anything.
However, after doing some measurements it seems my worries are really not that of a problem.

It seems the rad will fit in just well with not much space to giggle around.
So I may just go ahead and get the rad and stuffs soon :D
Hope the rad will fit on the bottom once I take the filters out as I have a MSI lightning 6970 installed, which is a long card...

Thanks for your tip.

I do hate going into my rig just to clean it,
can we all see pictures of this custom filter on your rig & the measurements? that will help much in making the decision.

You could also take the "cheap" route like I did and slap some magnets on the stock filters then put them on the bottom :). After having a noise issue with demciflex in the past I'm hesitant to use them (not to mention they REALLY kill your airflow).
