Looking for ideas for a couple of headsets with mic for borderlands 2 co-op. Have never used a headset and mic before.

Price-?
$100-$125 each. More-Less?

Audio Technica ATH-M50S w/ an Ant Lion mic. Perfect combo with my Asus STX.

The M50 is not a good gaming headphone compared to the AT 900x and any Sennheiser in that price range. I have a samson sr850 as my backup headphone that cost $45 and sounds pretty much the same as the M50.

I have the sennheiser pc350 and its the most uncomfortable headset I have ever used.
I haven't used this one with Borderlands but I have found it to be a good headset ... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005QUQP7G?tag=intercept-kb-20 ... the Corsair 1500 usb headset with mike

The corsair cables, actually, anywhere to cables meet the housing or the volume control...is horrible quality. Look on the corsair forums, nothing but headsets whos cables fail after a few months. I went through a number of corsair headsets, and excellent aside from the fatal cables.

I actually have the Logitech G930's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?SID=khdUMrErEeKvP5IUqMwukQ0_mmcX3_I-M_0_0&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=26-104-399&Tpk=N82E16826104399&cm_sp= and they are pretty sweet. The headset being wireless is also a plus, but not really necessary. I got them as a gift and I have loved it ever since. They are pretty comfortable for me and I can wear them for around maybe 5-6 hours before my ears start to hurt. I have been eyeing astro's lately since my brother has a pair of A40's and they are pretty bad ass, but kind of expensive so yeah.

Wasn't referring to the headsets. Sorry. I meant the 518 and 558 respectively. Completely different category. Open or semi open with fabric earpads and plenty of room for your ears.

I think I paid like $40 for my Turtlebeach X12s that I use all the time.

My only complaint is if I wear them for too long (few hours) they begin to hurt my ears/head from clamping down so hard.

This is what you do for that price range. Grab a pair of Sennheiser HD518's, a very good set of cans, and either a Logitech desktop mic, or an Ant Lion mic (head to modmic.com) that'll attach to the Sennheisers.

Easily done for your price range.

Unless you absolutely don't care about sound quality at all, in which case, grab the nearest pair of Steel Series or Razers and enjoy the mediocrity. ;)

You might try putting your Senns on something for a week that's roughly the size of your head. Mine were extreme tight when I got them and desperately needed a break in period before they were comfy. Unfortunately I couldn't bear to wear them to break them in, so I fitted them to a CD jewel case tower until they were ready. ;)

Each to their own, I like my Audio Technicas.

wearing the Navi at the moment

My roommate uses the CSGO edition.

The reason I use Siberia V2's is that its a double headstrap with springs that keeps it from giving you headaches from the pressure so you can wear them for long periods.

Ordered a pair of the Siberia V2's thru amazon, will give them a try and see if i like them.

The Sennheiser HD518's with mic from ant lion also look promising. Will also order and compare to Siberia V2's

The Sennheisers will shit all over the other headphones/sets in terms of sound quality, and you can increase that furthermore by getting yourself a better sound card as well, such as an Asus Xonar brand card.

OP you have the right idea.

I know the Senn 518 should sound better than the siberia but do understand that they will both improve with a sound card or something like a fiio usb dac/amp. The 518s have more headroom for improvement than the Siberia btw.

Currently, the creative Z is the best entry card and it comes with a microphone that just sits on top of your monitor.

My father and i both have the Creative ZX with audio control module. Have never used audio control module before, Neither of us has ever had a pair of headphone or a mic.
I am 56 and my father is 80. Looking forward to co-op BL2.

Thanks to everyone for all the info.

The fact that you two are playing Borderlands 2 together warms the cockles of my heart.

He started with the original Delta Force on windows 98. Mech Warrior series is where he
got hooked. I think he will like BL2 with all the variables of load out's. I will be able to help in co-op since we live 20 miles from each other.
