This is easily the coolest nine billion pixel image you will see all day.

This striking view of the central parts of the Milky Way was obtained with the VISTA survey telescope at ESO’s Paranal Observatory in Chile. This huge picture is 108 500 by 81 500 pixels and contains nearly nine billion pixels.

pretty sure thats i-94 in Milwaukee. its been under construction my whole life with cracks in the road.
 
It would be nice if you could download the pic in less that TEN DAYS!!! Why is their bandwidth only 25Kb/s?

Go take a picture of those cracks and see if someone can tell the difference between that picture and this one.
 
Good Lord, haven't they ever heard of Bittorrent? This is a textbook example of what it's good for...besides OC Remix, linux distributions, and pirating $10000 professional software packages for making trivial edits to kitten videos.
 
This would be great for any monitor setup. They can snip part of it as a desktop wallpaper.
 
I like this picture. Using it now as my wallpaper.
Except I only counted 8.99 billion pixels
