I have cox tv atm, and am somewhat pleased with the television they provide, but to get extra dvrs or even one the price is starting to skyrocket. I was wondering what alternatives would be available if I switched to say a cable card instead of the dvr box that I currently pay for. I would like to be able to watch on 2-3 tvs if at all possible.

I am not really interested in building a htpc because other people use it that would not be familiar with it and really just have no desire to build one. I'm looking for something that is somewhat intuitive and not very complex...

I hope this is posted in the right section.

If you don't want to build an HTPC a Tivo is pretty much ur only option.

I have cox and use an HTPC with two silicondust HDHomerun Primes and have Xbox 360s as extenders in all the bedrooms.

As far as the HTPC, I'm using windows media center and hasn't been a problem with the kids and wife learning how to navigate through it.

Is there any way to buy a system like a htpc that is prebuilt for 200-300?

IF you have a PC, but don't want to build and HTPC, you could go the extender route.

Right now the only extenders are Xbox's. But Ceton is about come out with one.

Essentially you get a tuner the can be used by Windows Media Center on the PC. The extender can access the tuner feeds through the PC across your network.

Your wife has more patience than mine. You have more calming power than me. I ditched all that and got a TiVo. All grief ended immediately.

It was surprisingly painless. As far as navigating, I also had a MCE remote that had things labeled like Recorded TV, movies, guide. Even

The only probably was getting a decent IR receiver placed in the right spot.
