27" IPS 2560x1440 monitor~90hz <$400 FS

Bit the bullet and purchased a crossover from ta_seller. Will do a review once it comes in hopefully by friday.

Eh I don't mind the hz thing too much, as long as my response times are good and it's got minor defects then I will be happy. Anything over my current 24" 1920x1080 displays will be awesome. Now what to do with 3 Asus 24" 1080p displays :|

I'd probably take 3 24"s over a single 27", but I also want to play with Eyefinity. Tempted to get 2 more of these but I couldn't realistically drive them even if I went to 6950 2GB Tri-Crossfire.

Eyefinity is a fun gimmick for awhile but I am already bored of it, it's more distracting than beneficial. I loved Eyefinity in racing and flight games but I am mostly an RTS and FPS player and with games like SC2 not even supporting Eyefinity, well it's sort of a kick in the wallet.

Posting this from my brand new Q270SE Catleap. Holy fuck stick is this thing awesome. As far as I can tell there are no bad pixels but there is some minor backlight bleeding. The stand probably the biggest piece of crap I have encountered. It wobbles at the slightest touch so I will certainly be replacing that asap. The seller included an adapter for the Type C plug but it is rubbish so I just used a spare PSU cable and it fired right up. This thing is huge!!! My poor 560ti is going to get it's butt kicked.

Holy hell, setting this thing up was SO easy. I was expecting something to go wrong, but all I had to do was plug in a power adapter and then the DVI cable and BAM! the thing is up and running. It's quite a bright monitor. I'll post some pics in a minute.

Do you play Skyrim? Can you let me know how your 560ti handles games? What processor are you running? My system specs are below. I intend to get a catleap first, then upgrade my GPU, the, when I can get the money, upgrade processor, mobo, and RAM once Ivy Bridge comes out. It will be a while yet before I can upgrade my GPU, but I'd like to play games in between getting the new display and the upgrade.

Well I was using my dads desktop to test my monitor since my rig is currently mostly sold off in an effort to pick up some cheap new upgrades. So I won't be of much use there. But I just ran heaven for a short while with:
Full res
High tesselation
no AA
stock settings besides that and it pulled 30fps or better through all the demos.

Quick video I took with my Flip HD; hopefully it gives you a good idea of what to expect.
http://youtu.be/qA1T6p83jSQ

1. Some initial thoughts. I play Starcraft 2 almost exclusively on my PC. It's a pretty fast twitch game and I haven't seen any ghosting or whatnot that would lead me to believe the panel isn't fast enough to handle an FPS type game. I'll try boarderlands out and get back.

2. In my video I say it's dark. It's not that the monitor is dark, but rather that it's uncalibrated and the colors look a little dark to me. Overall the monitor is quite bright.

3. No dead pixels that i can see :D; there may be a very small scuff on the screen itself, but I'm not sure.

4.Setup is an absolute breeze. I took the power cord from one of my 24" monitors, plugged it into the PSU and fired it up and everything looked good. Then I plugged it into my HD5770 with the supplied DVI and it found it immediately. Not a thing to complain about with the setup.

5. I bought mine from ta_planet (13,202 reviews with a 99.7% positive rating). He responded to all my emails quickly and kindly and the monitor shipped incredibly fast (once my eCheck cleared; stupid me).

Overall very happy with the monitor so far. I highly recommend it especially since it's gotten cheaper since I paid for this one.

Does it work on the DVI port if you disconnect one of the other monitors?

Hmm, maybe try PMing Vega. I know he's successfully run a triple 30" setup and might have some troubleshooting pointers.

Yea it works on the DVI port no problem if I unplug one from the display port. Will try the PM method. Would rather not add another 100w+ for a second card.

Nice review, I just purchased one from ta_planet as well. How long did it take for delivery? approximately from the time you paid to when it arrived (your location also)

Thanks!

Keep in mind I used an eCheck so that added several days. From the time my payment cleared (Thursday) it took a grand total of 5 days; three business days. The shipping was very fast and ta_planet staff w (one guy?) was quick and polite in responding to my emails.

If native resolution framerate sucks donkeyballs, just play at 1920x1080 or 1600x900 and be done with it until you upgrade. It will still look good, just not as good as it COULD look at full res. The lack of anti-glare coating gives even upscaled content a sharp, clean look that makes it look amazing, IMO.

Apparently crossover displays are defective according to ta_seller so he had to cancel my order, just my luck..

I have a q6600 at 3.0GHz with 8GB ram and one of my 6950 unlocked running a 30" Dell (2560x1600). It runs fine with most of the eye candy turned on. Only a few times did it drop to annoying framerates, and only for a moment.

Ordered a Crossover LED-P (has pivot + US ac adapter) from dcsamsungmall it was a bit pricier than ta_seller and hopefully I don't get a defective one according to ta_seller.

No fixing that, at least not easily. That's either a panel or logic board issue, not a power supply issue like they usually have...

*sigh* I know.... The Soyo served me well..... Looks like its time for a second Catleap

What are you guys with multiple machines using for input switching? I have an MBP and PC and have been switching those on my current display, but I've read that DVI->HDMI adapters won't support 2560x1440. Do you just use a DVI switch?

If you go with a DVI switch, make sure you get ones that's compatible with Dual Link, since the vast majority are only single link.

I came to the same conclusion, except that I think Eyefinity is great for FPS/RPG as well.
Try Skyrim in Eyefinity and fix the FoV then tell me it's a gimmick. I waited to sell off my eyefinity LCDs until after I played through Skyrim once.

Didn't know there was a UI fix for Skyrim, in WOW it was great being able to have all your addons on another screen but overall I haven't found much use for it in MP FPS games. Offline it's fun and immersive but I guess I have just gotten bored of most games. I have probably used Eyefinity in 30% of my gaming sessions in the past 3 years.

What do you mean "crossover displays are defective" ?

Did he say if he received a defective batch? If so, what's defective about them? Are the defects present on all Crossover displays?

Or are the defective displays limited to just the ones ta_seller has on hand?

The biggest problem is that way too many games require some kind of hack or community fix to work relatively well in Eyefinity. Skyrim is a perfect example of that.

I agree. I got tired of it and realized that I would rather have a single high resolution (2560x1440) display.

Yeah, thats how I'm starting to feel about 3d. I would be willing to lose 3d support for a larger higher resolution display. The one thing that I don't want to lose is a higher refresh rate. Even 80hz would be acceptable.

According to the conversation we had.

This is Kinam in Korea.
I just called to you.
but I think my voice did not reach to you.

I have important information about your purchased item.
Crossover 27Q model has dead pixel and white line problem at now.
so crossover company informed me to stop shipping items temporarily until solve this problem.

so we have to cancel transaction at this time.

Or, I suggest another brand model, QH270-lite,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320879998554#ht_8229wt_1164
That is good reputation too.

- ta_planet

I asked him when he would get new one in stock. His response was..

Well, crossover company now trying to find the white line problem.
This may be from the pannel problem.
A minus degree IPS pannel has up to 5 dead pixels,
sometimes these dead pixels change to vertical lines.
That is problem.

So I suggest you Shimian QH270-lite model.
Pannel quality is better than crossover.

What should we do?

1. full refund
2. full refund and buy QH270-lite monitor again.

Sorry for frequent calling.
This problem is emergency.
so now I'm talking with another buyers now.

- ta_planet

I asked him if he would lower the price back to $365 since it's currently over $400.

Yes, I raised the price to avoid selling items.

I will do full refund at now.

Maybe another ebay seller get good condition crossover monitor first.
My supplier is 2nd wholesaler, so 2~3 days late to get message.

Thanks for your understanding.
I will refund and send the cancel transaction request to you.

Best Regard from Korea
Kinam

Thank you for the info, NickJames. Hopefully my Crossover is okay, it has one stuck pixel and I haven't noticed any dead pixels.

I'm going to post that info at OCN.

Got my crossover led-p today, ordered it Sat from dcsamsung

Have 1 stuck pixel (blue).

- tad too bright out of the box
- stand is good, but a little wobbly once you get about a 6" clearance from the base -- will probably move my monoprice mount from the previous monitor

Other than that, this thing rocks and as many have found out a definite BUY for the price.

Going to try some of those tools to see if I can clear the stuck pixel, as well as get some display settings to get this tuned...

On the plus side, $334 for the Achieva is pretty damn hot!

Just got my $300 Achieva today. It's mind-blowing for the money. Planning to do some tests later to make sure it displays output from my Xbox, but it's working great at native res and was also able to display the BIOS information on my HD5570.

well being as my Hanns=G met an untimely death & I am now reduced to using a 19" LG widescreen with about a half dozen dead pixels that I found on CL for 20 bucks I definitly need to get off my ass & order one of these. I keep waiting for the crossfire to drop to the same price as the rest, though now the CCFL backlit varient has my attention as well.

My shimian from ta_planet was shipped this afternoon from icheon and left anchorage this afternoon as well. I am guessing I will get mine thursday or friday of course it usually gets 95% of the way to me and then takes twice as long to make the final delivery.

I ordered mine from ta_planet on Saturday (was shipped Monday morning, Korean time) and it arrived in Michigan today.
