I'm building my first gaming PC with a nice upgrade path to ivy bridge and need a recommendation on a card that will last long enough so that i can pick the the top card between amd/nvidia after ivy bridge comes out and the best card is decided. I want to be able to play skyrim at Max settings with hd textures on a single 1080p monitor until then. Here is the prospective setup

I5 2500k
corsair h80 cooler
8gb corsair vengeance
Asrock extreme 4 Gen 3 z68 board
Corsair 300r case
Corsair 120gb ssd
650w psu

I was looking to keep the graphics card under 250. Was looking at the 7770. Have no preference amd/nvidia. Any suggestions?

EVGA has 560 Ti's for 189 in their B-stock inventory. I think Skyrim at max/1080 would be at the 60fps limit for that card.

Please don't laugh - this would be a good stop-gap card for a few months.

More than enough power to max Skyrim and enough VRAM to handle the HD textures DLC at 1080p. It was $30 cheaper last week though. If you can't handle the heat it puts out a GTX 560 Ti for $200 would be a good option.

+1 !!!

Excellent card for the money...better than anything else in this price range!

I'd get a cheap -AR EVGA card (I picked up a 570 hd for $300, not so cheap but...) and then if you decide to go kepler you don't have to deal with selling off your card.
