What are some website/tools I can use to analyze the SEO of a website?

I'm looking mainly for things like what keywords it is currently using etc.

Please let me know your procedure and any tricks you have for analyzing a site's current SEO setup.

Thanks in advance.

Is there a good way to use that tool to see what competitors are using for keywords?

I have worked a little with webmaster tools on a site that I own but I'm not sure if there's a way to use it to analyze someone else's site.

You mean like the "meta" tag called "keywords"? I'm sure you know who your competitors are, so that narrows the list. And once you get the keywords from that list of vendor websites, you could easily do your own searches for those keywords to find other competitors you may have not known or overlooked.

Correct. Google's tools have a proofing process to establish ownership. But, as hinted above, some creative analysis of the various DOM tags in the header would give you some areas to search and consider.

Correct, I have a list of competitors I am interested in checking out. What is the best way to view their meta tags/keywords though. Sorry, I'm new to this side of things.

Browse to their website, view the markup in your browser, then look for a "<meta" tag that has a name of "keywords". That node will have a content attribute with a comma-delimited list of keywords.

For example, the HardOCP website has the following keywords:
Articles, Reviews, Motherboard, CPU, GPU, Chipsets, Cooling, PSU, Power Supplies, Sound Products, HardForum, [H]ard|Forum

Another "meta" name to look for is "description", and see its short description about the website.

Google haven't indexed the meta keywords tag for years... although they are about to re-introduce it for G News. It will explicitly not be used for web search, however.

Try the link:www.insertdomainhere.com command
