Hello,

I am considering to try nVidia surround with 3 screens, or well actually i already bought the monitors but it's still on its way. I am worried my graphics card will bend agains my will if i connect 3 27 inch monitors to it.

I bought 3x VE278Q 1920x1080

Do you think a single GTX 590 card will be able to handle these monitors or would I need a second card? mainly looking for opinions here

My specs;

The answer to this one will really be in what games you plan to play, and what detail level you insist on.
I know it can drive the display (I have run 3x 1920x1200 on a 560ti SLI pair for WoW). But for highly intense graphical games - you may not get ideal performance with all of the eye candy turned on.

Best bet for a good idea - google some GTX 590 reviews, I know I have seen some with surround running, and see if your games are there and how they behaved.

Why does everyone cheap out on their mobo's with 1155 builds, It is like watching someone wedge an audi s4 engine into an old rusty 1980 honda accord.

I think it will handle it but, you'd be on the verge of Vram limits I think. You won't be on highest details, but maybe highest with low or no AA.

Why get a super high end board with tons of features you do not need? Z68A-GD80 is not cheap at all, it's quite high end. You don't need GA Sniper with its crap for a good computer.

Crap= overclocking features and proper power phases, then sign me up, I'll take two.

had te asus 590 @ launch. went triple screen (BenQ XL2410T's) for 3D surround, coming up form a single 3D screen. Card simply couldn't cope, even in 2D (in 3D you're redering double the image... so double the math for the GPU, take your frame rate, cut it in half). The neutered 580 cores run more like 570's, and even if you OC them to get them back up to stock 580 speeds as I did, what you'll find is that 1.5GB of VRAM per GPU isn't enough, even at 1080P, to turn everything on. if you even go 1:1 on GPU:SCREENS at 1080P you're running dangerously close on VRAM in most games. You're doing better than most with a 590, but to get more VRAM you have to either go to AMD (2GB per GPU), or go for a 580 3GB card at this point. I opted to go for the 580 3GB option.

This created another problem. 3GB was enough to turn on the video options across all 3 screens, but the GPUs were being overloaded. Guess where this lead? Yep, a new board, and a third card. Another 590 wouldn't have helped... then I'd have had enough GPU power, and not enough VRAM. Damn you, Nvidia.

The GD80 does have proper overclocking features and proper power phases. I bet you just looked at MSI and immediately thought "cheap, bad motherboard."

The GD65 comes highly rated for its overclocking results from [H], and the GD80 is better than the GD65.

Back on topic: You'll likely run into VRAM limits as was stated. But this will depend on the games you play as well.
