I'm sure most already have like me. But if you haven't and are on the fence, hold off. The reason is they have got to clear up the bullshit with the servers. Getting kicked from servers is an all the time activity in BF3. Sometimes it is admins kicking, probably because you killed them or disarmed an mcom or something, other times the game just says "you have been disconnected from the server," maybe a PB bug or something.

Whatever the case, it is rather annoying. Finding a server that works is hard, and then of course you have the classic problems of finding one that isn't teamstacked, and of course one that you have a reasonable ping to. The fact that you get all the "kick servers" makes the other two much harder, particularly since there is no way to add a server to a "shit list" that doesn't show up. You can accidentally reconnect to a server that was a problem.

So I say give the game a miss for now, until they clear up the problems. Probably have a bug to fix for the random kicks and they'll have to ban some admins for the admin kicks. Until then, the game can be a massive exercise in frustration. You spend 10 minutes trying to get in to a server you don't get DC'd from, only to find that it is completely tracked and you have to go looking again.

I'm going to put it in the "don't play" bin for a couple of weeks and then see how it goes.
 
I remember trying to run eyefinity when BFBC2 first came out. I bought my original eyefinity setup for it actually. Complete and utter misery. I ended up just waiting a month or so before playing it. by then they'd released the big patch.
 
I have not once been kicked by PB or anything. Then again I behave?
 
From all that I've read and the deals that I've missed, I'm still holding out. No doubt will I buy this game, but I don't like first week releases for the reasons this forum has been plastered with in less than 24 hours time. I'll wait a month or so, and hopefully the HT, NV surround, disconnection, stuttering issues, etc. will be cleared up. Maybe even AMD and NV will have further updated drivers too.

Just installed when I got home about 4 hours ago and have managed to get into a couple good games. Great lookin game but the web based server brower is just intolerable. $50 wasted. I'm heading back to BF3 Vietnam. I don't think this mess can be fixed.

PB undetectable hack has been out ever since there's been a beta. I can imagine that there are hundreds if not thousands of players who use it right now. PB is really just a joke to keep kids out, folks who pay for hack have never been deterred by PB.

Oh yeah I know that, it is a bit better than VAC though since the admins can actually monitor it.

And it doesn't seem to update properly. My guess is that's the problem with the random (as in non-admin) DC issues. I'd see that back in BC2. A new PB update would come out, servers would get it, clients didn't since it wasn't automatic, you'd join a server, play for a bit and get kicked. You'd then run PBSetup and update.

However you can't do that at this point, since PBSetup doesn't support BF3 yet.

I will say though if anyone was cheating, I certainly haven't noticed. Everything seemed above board.
 
EA servers are always a mess for a week after big name releases (1943, BF:BC, BF:BC2.)
 
do you have to exit the game and go back to the browser to go to another server? that would be some supreme shit.

Well...what's your name? And did you allow BF3 to install PB when it preloaded/installed?
 
BF3 running great for me for a 1st day release; only very minor net stuttering. No crashes, good frame rates, no lost connections; and it has been fun.

same name as here.....and yeah, I installed PB and am playing on PB servers.....once I'm in,its fine...but I seem to have a problem loading...3 or 4 different servers .... I start loading then show " kicked by admin" ....
 
I got kicked once by admin for inactivity. I joined a server for the first time and spent a few minutes mapping my key board and mouse. Just as I was finishing up and about to spawn I get kicked. Not a game/server bug, but still annoying.

Pretty much the same here. First game I was kicked. Other than that, I'll disconnect occasionally, but typically between rounds. It tends to happen most often when I've hit the Windows Key. That Windows Key is annoying. Right between prone and crouch...
 
Had a few server problems, but nothing ridiculous last night. Some of you either have way too high of expectations or are having bad luck.
 
I lost connection after my first round, that has been my only issue. The game is fantastic, it is everything it was hyped to be and more.

That is VERY annoying because there is no other way to set your keys. Its baffling to me, that you can only set your keys once you have "deployed". Really stupid and annoying imo.

That being said, I have played with zero problems, but I have only tried one server so far for a few maps.

And PB is unpredictable. I have never cheated, and my name is not insulting. Yet random kicks happen in BC2 all the time, and other games. BF2 was a nightmare for awhile, having to change and copy files within the install folder, etc. Took forever to get it to work right.

depending on if the servers full/semi full it could be due to the server having reserve slots locked or some one that has access to the reserve slot just happens to be joining at the same time.

thats why i have my window key disabled in my keyboard drivers. :D i don't use it anyways so theres no point in having it on.
 
I had the issue of Punkbuster not installing for whatever reason with the game, would keep getting "kicked by admin" every min or so after I'd join a server. The only thing that fixed it was copying someones Pb folder, since for whatever reason the Pb installer included with the game wouldn't work even though it said it was working and tested fine, it would never create a Pb folder.

From the little I've played (e.g. way too much), the lag seems to be server dependent. I'm not talking about pings here, but rather player counts. I've been on many 64 player servers where there is only slight rubber band lag, and other servers which are closer to me (within 50 miles) where the game is completely unplayable. I just wonder if all the servers are the same hardware, or if some just are running cheap hardware which can't keep up with the demand.

Overall, I'm quite impressed by the game. If you wonder whether or not you should buy it, just remember, it's Battlefield, albeit with better graphics and sound. If you don't like the Battlefield series, you most likely won't like this. If you do, then you most likely will.

But forget singleplayer. I think this is the one area everyone will agree with that the game lacks quality. The multiplayer is where the action is.

As far as graphics, this is not a next-gen looking game, but it is a current gen game. This is hard to explain, as there really haven't been many current gen games for graphics quality in the past few years. So, it's probably one of the better looking games out there. (Albeit, the character models are pretty ugly).

The one area though that this game excels in is sound, which is typically overlooked by most games. If you can, get a 5.1 (or better) sound system.

Dice really deserves props on the PC version of the game. Compared to many disappointments, this is probably one of the best FPS's for the past several years on the PC.

But if you're a console user, I'd probably pass for the time being. The XBox servers have been flaky at best with connecting to games being difficult. The PC version really does feel lke a completely different game than the XBox & PS3 versions.
 
Sounds like my experience with Red Orchestra2 that was recently released. I will hold out for a patch or two and at least 20% off full price.

Ya you do unfortunately. Not a huge deal for me since I have an SSD, but still slower than BC2's in game stuff. It is another reason why server hopping is a pain and the kick thing is a pain.
 
The whole key binding issue is something that has really got my heckles up... I can not believe in this day and age that the devs' thought this process was a good idea... Much less the issues with certain keys being hardbound even after you remap them (atleast you can remap TAB in this damn game unlike BF/BC2)

I am also running into issues with my tri-fire toxic 6950 but thats been mentioned and I have more faith in AMD atleast trying to FIX the issues than DICE and that scares me.

For the most part a keyboard is a keyboard... but being able to disable the left windows key has made my lycosa worth every penny.

Not the best solution, but loading campaign lets you config everything without even loading a map.
 
Played for a while tonight on the H servers. No issues. Game runs flawlessly. I definitely do not echo the sentiments of the OP. If you enjoy FPS multiplayer games, this is the best I have played in years.
 
At least you guys can log in. My game won't even launch. Reloaded everything, redid the amd driver, and static ip and port forwarded. Still nothing. EA help told me to roll back to Vista SP 1. (Using WIN7) Still no dice. Lame.

Have you tried removing the TM from the folder name? That worked for me.
 
Are you seriously joining a game then setting your graphics/key binding? Seriously? Who would do that? Fire up the campaign, then set them, then I don't know, you could actually test your graphics/key binds there without disturbing anyone. I'd say testing key bindings/fps for the first time on a live server is a dick move.

I found a good 32 player rush server. I figured the 64 player ones would be the most 'desirable' hence, the most laggy. I have yet to get a disconnect once, had a span of 5 seconds of lag during the several hours I played. My key bindings/graphics setting were all awesome, as I tested them in single player first. Very surprised at how well the game is running for a day one release. Any lag issues are most likely with the server hardware/connections. The netcode seems solid. If you are having lag issues on a 64 player server join a 32 player one. Wait till the admins figure out you need moar hardware for a 64 player match then a 16 player match of counterstrike.
 
Browsing for friends or joining a game from the browser is retarded, it adds additional resource contention on my graphics card.

I had an issue with sounds yesterday, didn't happened the night before. Not sure if it was having an issue with Teamspeak or not. I can hear people in Teamspeak talking, but there are no sounds from the game itself. Restarting the game or rebooting the PC did not resolved.

Uninstalled and Reinstalled the sound drivers fixed the issue.

Really the server browser in BF3 is shit, why the fuck did DICE think it was such a good idea to use your internet browser to launch the game? WTF? I really hope one day that DICE will make an ingame server browser, even the one in BC2 was much better.
