Gaming Mousepad?

I absolutely WILL NOT use anything except a classic FuncPad 1030. The 100% perfect mousing surface. I've had both of mine for 7 years now and they are in like new condition.

None of those locally...

Anyone know the difference between the QcK and the HDs in the steelseries product line?

Uh huh. My func 1030 was down to a mirror finish on the rough side after about 6 months of use. Perhaps you simply don't know how to identify surface texture degradation on a hard pad? It happens to all of them, period. It's physically impossible for it not to happen, even if you had a mouse pad made out of titanium.

Perhaps you simply don't understand much of anything.

Not a hint of smoothness. Not the mousepad's fault if your hand weighs 35lbs, because that's the only possible way yours could be worn down after six months.

I own a SteelSeries QcK Heavy. Works great. It is pretty large too... I never run out of mousepad.

i have the steelseries S@S and the Experience I-2. the S@S is very very smooth and quite silent. problem is, i wore out the entire pad in about 18 months, and my deathadder was finding some dead spots. the ice mats been going strong for about a year now, without a hint of wear (big surprise there) the 2 problems with it are, a single spec of dust under the mouse sounds and feels like a damn boulder. its also a pretty loud mouse pad, but i honestly dont notice the sound anymore. the other thing is, its not as slick as the s@s, but a quick wax once a month or so solves this. plus it seems to quiet it down a hair, and its easier to wipe down.

I went from years on Func pads to a Steelseries QcK a year ago.

I liked the Func pads very much but I'm never going back, love the combination of smoothness, speed, and accuracy with the QcK

From my experience, I would recommend the Func 1030. For me it had the perfect dimensions, shape, price, 2 surfaces, and was easily washable in sink or dishwasher.

I also considered the Ratpad, but with the size of it, level of my mouse surface, and the bevel on the pad, it just appeared it would be too raised and uncomfortable. I'd like to try one in the future.

What's the difference between the Steelseries QcK heavy and normal pads? I like a thin pad myself, but will I screw myself if I get the non-heavy version?

My Razer Destructor has worn out in less than a year, so I'm done with hard pads.

When I originally read about the thickness of the ratpad and I was afraid that it would be too raised. But I honestly don't notice the 1cm.

I used a normal Qck for several years before recently switching to the Qck heavy. The difference isn't huge, but the heavy is definitely a better pad. The extra thickness and heft makes it more planted on your desk, so it won't move at all-but then again, my normal Qck never moved either. The main benefit IMO is the added support for your wrist, which makes extended gaming sessions a lot more comfortable on your hands. Definitely spring for the heavy if you can afford to.

I'm using a Razer Destructor. Similar to the SteelSeries 3/4HD in many respects. I like hard plastic or alum pads that are very thin. I had a few raised ones and they were uncomfortable after extended use. I like how easy cleaning the hard pads is.

So I'd recommend the SteelSeries SX, SteelSeries 4HD, or Razer Ironclad, & Razer Scarab.

Again I prefer hard pads and I am happy with my current pad. I'd opt for the SteelSeries SX if it was in the range of affordability.

If you would like to consider one made in the USA by USA workers with USA made materials, then give a Ratpadz XT a look. Free shipping makes it $20 at checkout. If you don't like it, they will buy it back from you and pay shipping.

Get a ratpadz, only downfall to them is they never wear out :D

I've had mine for 5 or 6 years now, it's awesome and works as perfect as day 1.

I had a ratpad for a while. It was pretty thick though, I didn't care much for it after a few hours use. That's just me tho.YMMV and Good Luck with your choice!

I have and love a Mionix Propus 380 pad. I also have a Razer Goliathus cloth pad. Both are amazing.

Ratpadz are awesome. My MX518 glides over it. They're made of hard plastic, but it feels indestructible. The surface is dotty to help it track.

Hate steelseries cloth pads. hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it. ugh.
worst mousepad i've used.

I do like the razer goliathus control, it's vastly superior to the steelseries cloth pads

Got a QPad UC X-Large, even better than the CT Large I had before. Steelseries pad's aren't that good.

+1 for the Func 1030. The rough side is perfection. I'm still using my 7+ year old archtype and my friend is using my even older original 1030 that I bought like 10 years ago in jr.high for cs 1.3.

using a g500 with razer kabuto mousepad.. dont need a big pad since i use my mouse at 5400dpi

I just bought a Steelseries QcK Mass and I hate it lol

Anyone have recommendations for a smooth mouse pad that lets the mouse glide easy that won't wear out quickly??

I use steelseries I-1 black glass mouse pad, can't stand mouse dip when clicking with high DPI so I tried this pad, been around 2 years now and I love it, GF wants one to for her PC after using mine for a few months lol.

Is it thin? What happens when you get dust on it, does it grind?
I had a Steelseries Icemat 2 for about 3 years before accidentally knocking it off my desk and shattering it. It was the most unique pad I ever used; basically a plate of coated glass. It's not as thin as the standard QcK, but also not as thick as the Heavy or Mass. It could get that grind feeling if it got too dirty, but a quick wipe down with a damp cloth cured it.

After some research I think I want the thinnest pad possible, if a pad is too thick it hurts my wrist after a while.

Any suggestions?

check out artisan mouse pads. they are extremely high quality cloth pads made in japan. they are offered in a variety of sizes, colors, and surfaces. the surfaces are all cloth based, but they are treated in a variety of ways that make them all perform and feel different. i personally have the HIEN hard, which feels rough to the touch, but does not bother my hands and my deathadder glides across it effortlessly. im really intrigued by their SHIDEN mouse mat also, which is a cloth pad treated with a special glass substance that is supposed to make it incredibly slick.

you can buy artisan pads on amazon.com

Ya, go with something you never heard of with no professional reviews and hard to find let alone see a picture.... :D

I'm kinda joking cause thats what I did after seeing this thread on oc ;)

I rarely buy anything without thoroughly checking a lot of reviews. Well not this time. I ordered the Hien Hard mid size. Actually it's pretty nice. I like it so far. I just hope it has decent longevity.
