Hello guys, i would like to know few things about the UD7 (from owners) because where i live i can't get the ME.

1. How to avoid boot loop when overclocking?

2. How to properly flash this mobo, is it different then X58?

3. What settings are the most important to set in BIOS in order to get stable 5.0ghz? (if the chip is decent) what vcore- (as max) 24/7 you guys recommend?

4. Does this mobo have any ram compatability issues?

5. Do you think its ok to use 1- 16x and 1- 8x slot instead of 16x/16x in order to have some space (and cooler cards) for Crossfire?

6. Does the NF200 chipset favour Nvidia cards? and if it does, how much? can i get top fps with Ati cards as well? i know this sounds kinda stupid but who knows, i must be sure.

7. Does Noctua NH D14 fits without issues if u got low/medium profile ram modules?

8. Do you think is worth to get 8GB ram (4x2) vs 2x2? regarding generall performance?

Any other suggestions/tips would be welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Hey, glad to see another Z68-UD7 owner/potential owner. I have had the board for a couple weeks now and I havent had much time alone with it to do much overclocking, I can tell you a few things about that and other stuff.

I havent had any of the looping that I have heard about, most the time when I heard about that it was on the P67 series board. Anyway I havent seen it

My 2600K:
Like I said I havent had much time to see how high it can go, but 4.0 it runs that with out any tweaking so far. I run at 40 mult. and I have used the software overclocking to get to 3.9 easily also.

The Vcore question is one I would like to know about also. Since there arent a lot of people out there with this board (yet) there isnt a lot of places to get info.

GIgbyte.co.uk has some good stuffs.

For video, I havent had a chance to run anything other than the two MSI 6950GB's currently in my system. They run great and I havent had any real issues with them either.

For RAM I have used 2X2GB OCZ gold and I am now using 2X4GB Corsiar dominators.
With 4gb of ram I did get about 75% used up when I got a lot of stuff running, so I would suggest having at least 8gb and it is so cheap to get decent 4GB modules now so there isnt any reason not to have 8, unless you have 16. After that you have to check what operating system you are using.

All in all it is a great board, I am having a lot of fun with it. There is so much stuff jammed into the board that I havent even used all of its capabilities yet.

Until the Z79(?) chipset comes out or there is another board that has the NF200 chip to support 2 by X16 cards, this is the only board out there for me. I dont care about any of the junk that the chipset can do with the video out on board. For me it isnt what I use my PC for.

Oh, a bunch of the hardware monitoring programs do not report the correct voltages back, HW mon, speed fan, etc.
Also, my logitech 510 keyboard doesnt boot until the system gets into windows. So if I need the BIOS I have to plug in a different keyboard. Those are the only issues I have so far not been able to get fixed. Everything else is 5X5.

I hope this helped at least a little. If there are any other questions, let me know. Thanks,
Mike

the boot loop is ANNOYING as hell, i hope they fix that in the next bios release

other than that mines has been good, running 16x 6990 1x sound and 8x 6970

unless your using 6990 or 590 8x is plenty go for the cooling

bios flash was easy hit the end key to enter qflash, have a memory stick in with the file... done

decided to replace this board, as expensive as it is i find it a PITA

my razer USB keyboard wont work in the bios/pre boot and one of my logitechs wont, another does, when overclocking fails the system gets stuck in a boot loop till you take out the power and wait a few seconds... bios needs work , overclocking "fails" randomly when booting can game and prime95 for hours on same settings, reboot and overclocking will fail... lol

if it was a 200$ board id look the other way and wait

Weird, I have the Z58 UD5 and so far haven't gotten the boot loop. Though I've only gotten my 2500k up to 4.5ghz (it's currently at 4Ghz with 1.14v since I like nice round numbers and thanks to vdroop + my forgetting to turn on LLC).
