Recommend 120Hz Monitors for Surround

Ah, my build. Been researching it as much as I could and the one item I'm back and forth on is the monitors. There's so little information compared to everything else out there. Here is my wants and my worries. Pretty standard FPS gamer stuff:

Want:
3 x 120Hz Monitors
nVidia 3d Vision Compatible (Not their main use but I want to be able to use it if I feel the need)
23 - 24 inch. (I don't have the desk space for those Samsung 27 inch ones)

Worries:
Crosstalk
Viewing Angle
Input Lag
Ghosting

Currently I go back and forth between Acer and BenQ. Recommendations? ~$450 max price point, lower is always better especially since I'm buying 3 of them. Currently I have these BenQ's on my buy list:

269 $ for that monitor now... wow. I have been waiting for the new samsung 120hz monitors but... at that price. Wow.
 
The Acer GD has a ton of issues, the newer GN version solved these but is not avaliable yet.

There are a ton of variables with the BenQ's, many of the first units were very slow and had terrible backlight bleeding. Being a refurb these could be fine, and at 270$ it is hard to say no.

Other wise if you want a Glossy 120hz monitor for more vibrant colors and clearer images @the price of reflections read the Asus VG236H Review.

The Planar SA2331W is the best matte 120hz pane for 3D, but at 270$ the it is hard to say no to the BenQs if you are being price concious. Other wise go Planar.

My vote goes with the planars. I have a 2233rz and have been researching my next 120hz 1080p display. Planar is the only one that I am really considering. New samsungs, are ugly, glossy, don't have vesa, and the 750 is limited to display port. Im not ready to toss my SLI 460s aside just to use a mehh monitor.
 
Ya, I never heard about the Planar ones until today. I'll be driving all these with MSI N580GTX Lightning Xtreme Editions in SLI so if that isn't enough power nothing will be. I'll be looking more into the Planar screens, they look like they may be the way to go.
 
planar and acer have high input lag
benq is very slow

i'd recommend 3 viewsonic vx2268wm or the asus vg236he for your needs
the viewsonic is 16:10 and has lower input lag than the asus
the asus has better colors

Me = jelly of ur GPU power, but id never be able to dump that much heat into my room. 460/560s are about my dual card limit unless I want to rebalance my central air to leave the rest of my house hot.

Yeah, I saw the BenQ's a while ago on their site. It's a great deal, and I doubt anyone is still getting problems of the variation in batches. I'm sure that killed their sales enough for them to understand they got to fix whatever was going on with their products. If you want to get matching monitors they would be a great pick mainly because of their versatility in ergonomic rotations. These monitors are able to swivel right/left, up/down, and 90 degree (landscape/portrait mode). They also allow 13cm height adjustment. The build quality on the XL2410T is beyond sturdy. It's tough and heavy enough to withstand pushes and vibrations (if your table wasn't stable or had wheels). Many real gamers will know how frustrating it can be when you get really intense in your FPS games and sometimes feel like that sudden frustration that has caused you to accidentally bump the table almost topples the whole screen over is quite annoying. Well it is for me at least. I hate it even when the screen wobbles a little. I have one screen on the table and my other one is actually mounted to the wall to avoid any sort of vibration haha.

The XL2410T is a great buy and sweet deal. It's got lots of cool little nifty features, great build, LED backlit, hdmi/dvi/d-sub port. And it doesn't have any of those silly touch screen OSD buttons which I think are useless and completely unyielding...
 
I wish BenQ would pay me to gush over their products and praise them for arbitrary reasons.
 
It'd be hilarious if they did actually, because it'd be too obvious that you would have turned sides hahaha ;)
 
3D monitors have to be identical in order to use 3DVS, correct? I bought 3 refurb Acer GDs but one of them has a defective DVI port, which makes the whole setup useless for its intended purpose, so I'll be returning that. Unfortunately the company has no refurbs left so I'm not averse to switching out to another set of 120hz monitors if needed.

That said, I think the Acers look pretty respectable in 2D (haven't bought an emitter for 3D). And I've seen the best of TN monitors (Asus VE 278Q, VE 24 and 23).

Then Acer really needs to fix it quick OR get you a new one. You bought that monitor in good faith that it was a totally refurb'ed unit. Apparently on their testing platform they test with D-SUB only. The original reason that monitor was returned was (most likely)because the DVI did not work. THEREFORE they did NOT refurb the unit. IMO, they owe you a new unit for your trouble, AND they need to cross ship it.
 
The company I got it from was CheetahDeals.com. Looking more closely at the unit, there isn't even a screw in the bottom mount. That may indicate that they did try to fix it, though. At any rate they have very good Resellers ratings so I am expecting and requesting a prepaid shipping label.

Since they have no other refurbs in stock, I decided to buy the Asus VG236H. I think I prefer glossier displays because the colors and contrast pop much better. In fact, yesterday I took a screenshot of Portal 2 in Steam, uploaded it, and displayed it on both an Alienware MX 17 R3 and this Acer unit. The Acer looked drab and colorless by comparison. Funny how side-by-side comparisons can shift opinion.
