If you haven’t noticed the weather lately, you are in the minority. Weather patterns worldwide have been affected for the worse with multiple record winter storms, increasingly severe tornados, massive flooding and mega-hurricanes. Scientists and climatologists have been quick to place the cause on global warming, but now are beginning to suspect a greater phenomenon as the root cause.

Suddenly, in the past decade the rate sped up. Now the magnetic pole is shifting East at a rate of 40 miles annually, an increase of 800 percent. And it continues to accelerate.

All I want to know is when I'll be able to see the Aurora Borealis from San Francisco :D But I guess that depends upon which way the magnetic pole is moving.

That said, it's like 65-70 degrees here in San Francisco, at 7am... me likey! Just hope it doesn't cause a great migration of frozen people this state is already too crowded as it is.

STOP GLOBAL POLAR SHIFT. We need Congress to make a law to stop this. I'm sure this is due to greenhouse effect and I need more money to research it. So send me cash. Only in million dollar denominations please, I don't like fractions.

"Another federal agency, NOAA, issued a report caused a flurry of panic when they predicted that mammoth superstorms in the future could wipe out most of California. The NOAA scientists said it's a plausible scenario and would be driven by an "atmospheric river" moving water at the same rate as 50 Mississippi rivers flowing into the Gulf of Mexico."
I hope you can swim.

Damn, where is Al Gore at when you need him? I am sure I would feel guilty about something after he explained the Magnetic poles flipping for me.....

It's still the fault of SUV's. They're so big and metallic that they're affecting the magnetic......ah I can't do it with a straight face. I'd make a terrible liberal.

I guess the 'science' in the movie 'The Core' wasn't so bad after all? Heh.

Wasn't the polar shift something to do with the dead birds dropping too?:(

He'd blame it all on carbon emissions.... then still produce enough emissions himself to equal a million households. Who does he trade carbon credits with to offset this massive inequality?

Polar shift can screw up a ton of things for us, cant wait to watch the world end, cause you know those scientists can be trusted

I did the math one time, His mansion uses about the same amount of electricity in one month that I did in 5 years in an apartment going to school.

On topic: 2012 anyone? (runs away with tinfoil hat)

Ahhh.... science in the 21st century. Think of it this way: If your personal livelihood, the very income that feeds your family, depended on continued government funding, wouldn't you issue a worse case scenario x100? It's so easy to do. And very few people I'd wager would have the intestinal fortitude not to. Why do nightly news reports always focus on the worst crime or disaster? Ratings. It's what drives their paycheck. It's just human nature and scientists are human too.

wow -- more interesting than this stupid article is that EVERY single poster in this first page of posts is currently online!!! (all green dots)

Maybe the planets have finally aligned?

Crazy stuff, I was watching the news and it was EERILY SIMILAR to one of those "the world is ending" movies I saw recently.

Australia........HUGE massive floods
Next topic was .......Egypt massive riots
Then next was ............. Record blizzard storms all over the USA, even in Texas, and then they even said this..... "we never had snow like this in many decades!"

I am all sitting there thinking..... man am I going to be that dumbass guy in the movie looking into the store window (that fake store they always have with 50 TV's on every channel and you can magically hear through the glass)

Saying, Mannnnnn that is so fake! (as you see a huge meteor coming towards the city in the background)

The topic was not even posted an hour ago, not surprising to me

I can probably chat on this site all day with all the damn topics they've got :D

And here we have a nice crazy winter, like usual. Last week it was -15C, yesterday it was +11C.

We must create new regulations IMMEDIATELY. How about we set up a weather tax? Those with nice weather get taxed to hell because it's not fair to those with bad weather. Then everyone can be equal! (After the 99% of the taxed funds are absorbed by bureaucracy, that is).

Well even thought the article is FILLED with scare tactics I have read papers and articles from legit sources that say

- We are due for a flip
- A flip would cause weather to be "off"

What's interesting to me anyway is that this is happening (possibly) at the same time we are due for a bigger solar maximum than normal (possibly). Mix the two for interesting results and 2012 predictions!

That article made a bunch of great claims and didn't have any great evidence behind any of them. It barely cited any sources, and when I followed a few of those "sources", they were complete crap.

Sorry but the author is a nutjob. In science, extraordinary claims REQUIRE extraordinary evidence, its not optional. I can't believe anything I just wasted my time to read.

Something obvious they left out is their definition of "imminent" or "soon" or however they refer to time. When scientists talk about anything happening "quick" when they talk about planets or the earth or what-the-hell-ever, "soon" could mean millions of years.

Or it could mean tomorrow.

Complete polar reversal is a fact and we are long overdue for one.

Of course, you realize there's only one man who can save us from the polar shift...

blasphemy !! according to Sarah Palin this is the second coming of baby Jesus :(

Its been sunny and mid 60's to 70's for a hi and low 40's for night time lows, the whole month of January and February in Southern California. dunno what this cold you speak off is.

Even though this article is rather crappy and written rather sensationally, it astounds me how many people even in these forums are completely ready to write off any sound science that disagrees with their own preconceptions of how the world works.

Magnet shift DO happen people. Climate change does (and is) happening. You don't have to be liberal to believe in SCIENCE.

IMO most who do not believe in climate change do so for their own selfish reasons. For these people to acknowledge that we are alterning our environment would require them to do something or make a change. It is far easier to do nothing and pretend it doesn't exist. I just hope these people learn to swim.
