Hey guys, so i got a client that was having issues with his laptop. I did a fresh install of windows on it and ran HD Tune on it. Here's the results. Would you recommend i suggest that the owner has me put a new hard drive in it? Im about to go run DFT and i'll see what that gives me.

That's a Seagate drive, run Seatools not DFT ;)

There's a good possibility that Seatools could "repair" the bad sectors.
 
Okay, ill check into seatools quick ;) Thanks man!

Just run the long test or what?

I would not bother running Seatools or any other manufacturer tools.

1. Manufacturer tools do not rigorously test drives. They are more about limiting the number of RMAs then protecting your data. I have seen cases at work (I have 100s of drives) where drives that had 1/3 of the disk unreadable passed Seatools. I have similar experiences with WD diagnostics as well.

2. You do not ever want to repair reallocated sectors. Leave them alone. Now offline uncorrectable you may want to try to recover these but never reallocated sectors.

Now for the OP:
There are now 69 reallocated sectors on this drive. This may or may not be a problem. Keep an eye on this number. If it increases regularly RMA the drive.

It's 45 sectors. HDTune here already prints decimal umbers.
 
Thanks for the correction. I am so used to seeing SMART raw values in Hex since I use CrystalDiskInfo a lot on windows. I guess they are in decimal with smartmontools and I use that more often then CrystalDiskInfo since all (but 1) of my raid arrays at work are on linux.
