Microsoft Corp. today announced the availability of WebMatrix, a free Web development tool designed to help website developers of all skill levels easily create, customize and publish websites to the Internet. Microsoft has also made available a set of video tutorials, how-to tips and other resources for helping new Web developers get started.

If you were unfortunate enough to install this garbage like I was (hey, I was curious about it since it said it made web development easier and I do a ton of PHP programming), the best suggestion is to reboot your computer and mash F8. Start "Repair my Computer" and use System Restore to take your system back in time to before you installed it.

Not necessarily a bad thing, most machines can handle it. At work, I run VS 2005, 2008, 2010, side by side, SQL Express, SSMS 2005, 2008, and more, on a Pentium D 820 with no problems.

Well it is a development tool. I have it installed on several machines and it's caused me zero problems.

Well I just tested this out on a XP Virtual machine. While not bad i guess for someone who is a beginner I can still see it being confusing to a beginner also, unless they go and read up on some tutorials.
It does ask for your permision before installing all those services, plus it lists them all before installing so it's not a big deal really as long as you actually look at the list instead of just going click crazy ;).
