You guys think Amazon payments will be a good way of accepting payments if I sell stuff here. I have isssues with paypal, not because I screwed anyone over, they just always link my account to someone, I dont know why, may be someone else at my house has paypal issues. I just dont feel comfortable using them anymore knowing that they could just lock my account anytime they want and sit on my money.

Anyways I have good heat and have never had any negative feedback, what do you guys think about amazon payments?

Only thing I hate about Amazon is it takes a very long time to process and send money.

So but the fact they dont jerk you around like PP doe s... I might have to start using this ... Hummmm .....

paypal is run by ebay... ebay does not care if you get scammed

Amazon Payments is much better, and its free for both people apparently.... I don't see why not, it's BETTER! And probably safer than paypal based on my experience when I used to use paypal/ebay. No more for obvious scam reasons, ebay just does not care about people being scammed at all... I have dealt with them many times and they just don't care when it boils down to it as you always end up eating the scam (that they are supposedly going to pay, and claim its 100% safe.... yeaaahh right!)

I noticed the amazon payments thing last week and am surely going to use it instead of paypal for online transactions..... what sucks though is you can't use the money in your amazon account and transfer it to your "amazon payments" account. You just can't for some reason..... they don't allow it I just found out after emailing them. You can only put funds into amazon payments from a bank acct apparently, which I have no problem with at all its just I would have liked to use my amazon credit I have now instead (low on bank funds from xmas :p )

I signed up because the account is tied to the users bank account which is the only way to track someone down if they decide to steal your money/stuff.
I've used it and it went smooth. I'm close to only accepting this type of payment.

I've made a couple of transactions as both buyer and seller. They both went smoothly. No fees is major plus as well!

My sister in law used to visit all the time at our house, we literally lived like 5 miles away and she will browse ebay and paypal from my ip, guess what paypal locked her account once for suspicious activity and locked it for like a month. She used to go to school and she used to earn about 2000 selling jwelery on ebay. I felt so bad for her. It happened to me too, and I was like fuck paypal. Did someone know if you got cash in your account and they lock your account, they wont give you that money right away. They can legally sit on your money for 6 months. That is bullshit.

Yeah, I got my paypal account locked with the money inside, and near the end of the 6 months, they reversed the transactions so that the account had a 0 balance. Way to go.

i know its old, but definitely bringing this back up. Amazon payments take WAY too long to clear. I submitted a bank payment on a Saturday... bank shows pending. Monday end of day it clears pending and is posted to my account. Friday still "pending" status in Amazon payments. My first thought was "wtf" because my bank has cleared it... why hold onto the money and not release it to the seller? earning interest on the money they are holding for an extra few days or something? 5-7 business days (why even care about business days, its all electronic anyways) to clear is ridiculous this day and age.

Yes Amazon bank funded payments are very slow. Thankfully most accounts can use a CC for up to 1K in both directions with zero fees. It also give you the protection of your CC.

I have not used this yet, but I do hate paypal and their ridiculous fees. I should probably sign up for it.

I couldnt tell from my brief reading, but amazon payments is free or? It looks like it has very low 2.5% fees maybe, better than paypal anyways.

Bank funded payments are no faster or slower than PP.

Can someone clarify on the fees? No fees at all to receive money not even an annual fee to hold an account? Looked over the Amazon site and it appears so might consider this now on instead of Scampal.

How is their dispute resolution. Not as one sided as PP?

No fees yet, closers.
Does Amazon offer any buyer protection that PayPal offers?
Yes and they instantly hit the seller with a negative balance when a dispute is filed. Their dispute process is also invisible to the buyer and seller. Potentially worse than PayPal's system for sellers, good for buyers.

In comparison, PayPal reversed a charge on an item that the crooked Buyer claiming that it did not work, admitting to me that "they just didn't want." This is after over 11 years and hundreds of transactions of all positive feedback on eBay. Item still worked perfectly when he returned.

My experience w/ amazon payments:
1. Bank funded payment -- 8-9 days, just like they say
2. Credit card funded payment -- instant, no fees to send OR receive (up to $1000 per month)
3. Dispute resolution -- no experience with this thus far
No fees for credit cards is temporary -- they might start charging fees (as it costs them money to accept credit cards), but I think they're focused on getting market share from Paypal .. and it's going to take a while.

I don't see a problem with not being able to use amazon payments balance for amazon shopping -- just drain it to your linked checking account.

You can use amazon payments balance for amazon shopping. Just click "change" next to payment method and choose it.

I stand corrected ... I was commenting on Dylan80's post (which I now think I misread) ... honestly, I never tried or needed to use my amazon payments balance for shopping at amazon -- why would I if I can use my credit card and earn some miles ;)

Yeah, bank funding is slow but most people paid with their card with me so far. Never asked them to. Debit/Credit funding is instant.
Withdrawl is super fast though, less than two days to my bank account. WIN!!!!

AZ Payments > PayPal

How viable is it to use Amazon Payments over Paypal? Seems like everyone is dependent on Paypal these days. I've had some horrible experiences with Paypal in the past, and would love to use something else.

More and more people are switching. It's a good thing.
If you're even curious about it, you should sign up.

On that note, please buy something from my FS thread. I accept Amazon Payments. ;)

i just sent a over $500 through amazon payments via cc. its been pending for an hour..... isnt it suppose to be instant?? or am i missing something? i wanted this to go smooth with the seller :(

i have received amazon payments, but this is my first big payment (i did not go over the $1000 mark). also i checked with my CC, and they have not seen this transaction yet. so its probably on amazon with problems.

not sure with amazon, but with paypal it took about an hour for my last purchase near that price to go through ($475 to be precise).

ic. well thanks for that info. anyone used amazon for big payments?

I've sold a few laptops. Last was $750 just over a week ago.

Sometimes a larger payment will get delayed a bit if something seems "off" to them. It's a few hours at most usually.

I have always only used amazon payments for big items because it has no fees. sold laptops, gpus, monitors and so far no problems.

it took over 10 hours to clear......

thanks for the replies!

No PayPal, no sale. If you are a solid seller, PayPal shouldn't be an issue at all. I've had nothing but success with PayPal & only sloppy sellers get burnded by PayPal & they deserve it. I have no sympathy for a seller who sells junk or doesn't ship it well packed against damage. Then they try to stick the responsibility onto the buyer. Amazon sucks!!!

Then, you are the minority.
Everyone knows PayPal is evil.
There are, literally, tens of thousands of documented cases of buyers or sellers doing nothing wrong and getting shafted.

While I can appreciate the fact that there is a proper way to do things, PayPal is evil because sometimes even when those things are done......the person gets screwed.

I have yet to really get it from PayPal and I have easily over 1,000 transactions with them since joining years ago.
That doesn't mean that I haven't come close numerous times, that I dread eating their fees, dread their semi-monopoly on eBay transactions, and spend every transaction wondering if this will be the one where they stick it to me.

Stop being righteous about stupid subjects and troll less.

Just wanted to share my recent transaction with Amazon Payments. But just so people are aware, I've done transactions through Paypal (CC and Non-CC) as well as Amazon Payments (CC and non-CC).

To be totally honest with you, I am not happy with Amazon Payments from a non-CC standpoint.

Reason being is that it takes INSANELY too long. They do note that it's 5-7 days, but my gawd, it really DOES take that long.

Example is a recent transaction I had with a seller. He opted for Amazon Payments which I was skeptical at first, but I had all my stuff set up there so I figure why not. I had only used it one other time and it was using a cc type payment which went smooth(er).

Normally, on Paypal, if the funds aren't available, they take it from my account, but regardless sends the money immediately.

Amazon Payments does NOT do this. They took my money out of my account within 24 hours. But it stays in pending for the length of the 5-7 days. I could understand if it takes them that long to get a release from my bank, but they had my money out so fast my head spun, and then now they're holding. The seller has not received the funds, and I am left to wait like an idiot going sorry dude, I don't know where the money's at but its definitely not in my account.

Tomorrow is going on 6 (business days). The transaction was initiated on the 15th.

Note to self.. never do any transaction with Amazon Payments non-cc unless you plan to wait it out. Like I said, CC seems fine, but non-CC.. wow, never again. The extra 5-7 bucks in savings isn't worth the week long it takes, not including the weekends and having to wait for shipping.

Venting/bitching done.

Wshmaster0, can you elaborate on the extra 5-7 bucks you mentioned? I thought the beauty of amazon payments was that no fees are charged (not even for CC payment) ...

Amazon Payments, are only better then PayPal because they don't charge fees, but Amazon payments can screw the seller, just as much as PayPal , make no mistake assuming otherwise.

Further more Amazon Payments requires SSN , and there is no chance in hell I'm going to surrender my SSN to company like Amazon, who are in business of digging and selling personal information.

amazon ftw
no fees but banking takes time, 7 days for me but everything else is almost instant if CC or DC

Nah, Amazon Payments doesn't charge, what I'm saying is I would've given the guy extra $$$ to cover the fees on PP to not have to deal with this crap. Yes Amazon Payments is best for no fees AND if you do things strictly by via CC.

...sigh, seller has yet to receive my payment..... Note that these are BOTH Non-CC type payments.

Not to compare but...

Hmmm I guess there is a longer grace period if the transaction amount exceeds a certain level. I sent payment via amazon payment to a member here for under $100 and he received it within a day and the money was taken out of my account immediately.

I wonder if it also has something to do with a person's bank or me being an Amazon Prime member?

I will always ask for amazon payments over PayPal as it is cheap AKA free and it can be used directly right off to buy something else on amazon or go to your bank later. The only issue is that there are limits to what you can do in a month selling wise (or taking in payments), I think it was a Thousand, but that is only for Visa transactions, bank account transfers are far less limited like. And for the record, I do a ton a business at Amazon, I trust them wayyyy more than any eBay run company.

How good is amazon payments for the buyer?

Right now i have an offer for a 660, the seller contacted me by pm and said that he can send me an invoice and i just got to pay with the credit card (since i don't have an amazon payments account)...

So the question i have is, can i get my money back if he don't send the item? with this method of paying without a amazon payments account

The only bad thing about amazon payments is you aren't really covered at all. Unless the buyer has the item listed on amazon for sale. Payments outside of amazon isn't covered at all. I notice a lot of people here still doesn't understand that. But continue to throw the covered from A-Z every post. Hopefully people will start understanding that the no fee is okay but no protection though. I would rather give a few bucks to paypal and be covered myself.

That's what i hear some time ago, is almost like sending a gift payment through paypal... i just wanted to see if that had changed..

thanks
