Any other Trackball users???

Can't say I've ever used one with my own rigs but had one at work a decade ago. Don't think I could get use to it for gaming.

I would prefer a trackball but they don't make any I like. I used a Trackman Vista in the 90's and it was the best input device I ever owned.

well it went up to $46 used...

I've been using the Logitech trackman wheel (the cord one) which I'd got for $25. The silver paint under the palm has gone and is now a duotone graphite gray/silver combo.
Now I need a second wireless one and Logitech Wireless Trackball M570 looks promising, though to be honest I'm not keen on the blue ball..And it is a tad smaller than the original.
Anyone that uses it?

I have a Logtech Trackman Marble I use when I have to use a laptop at a customer's house/business.

I can't standle thopse touch pads or those stupid little thumb buttons.

Trackballs are also great for when you don't have a mousing surface available.

The M570 is almost identical to the Trackman wheel, both wired and wireless editions except the laser and the two extra programmable buttons and the fact that it uses the new ultra small unifying adapter. The size difference is almost imperceptible in use to me. The unifying adapter is very laptop friendly. It seems to be every bit as smooth, perhaps even smother, and as lag free as the wired Trackman wheel. The ball orientation is slightly different but I did not notice it when I switched over. In fact, I did not notice it till I took these pics and edited them for size. I don't like that it is not rechargeable, but the AA battery that came with it has gone nearly a month and is still claiming 475 days of battery life remains.

Oh, and the M570's blue ball is exactly the same size as the Trackman wheel's red ball. Both work fine in the Trackman Wheel, but the red ball does not work in the M570 in case you want to swap over due to color preference.

I bought a M750 just to test is out and since I don't have a lot of room for a mouse at work and I can honestly say that it is mediocre at best. The roll action of the ball is very rough. There is an audible sound moving the ball around. While the overall shape of the chassis is acceptable the overall feel is cheap. Passed it on to an interested co-worker after less than 10 minutes of use. Can not recommend.

Latest rev. Nice thing about the bigger trackballs it's easy to vary the look with a new pool ball.

Baller.

I used to have a Logitech trackball mouse, it was great. Took a bit getting used to and a lot of my friends couldn't understand how I enjoyed it but it's just a matter of using it daily.

For my next desktop build I will get a wireless one for sure

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I was looking for some updates about trackballs. :D

I've been using a few track balls, favorite so far is the Microsoft Intelltrack ball, then a Logitech trackball (the one without any scroll wheels), Kensington Export mouse, finally a Kensington Orbit.

Really liked the Orbit the best but looking for a larger sized track ball. I personally didn't like the Expert, even as the size was bigger it was very rough and the scroll ring was the same. Is CST really the only choice for a quality trackball?

well i still use my MS Trackball optical. it is a shame there is no advance in track ball tech.

I have been using THE SAME Logitech Trackman for nearly 8 years. This thing will prolly out live my grand kids. Great mouse, and I have never looked back.

Hard for gaming though, but I plan on buying a newer version of the Trackman along with another one of these very soon.

I can see why people don't like trying to get used to them, but 9 times outta 10 once they do they never want to use a regular mouse again. At least from what I have seen.

The biggest issue I ever had with them was either being too slow in a fast paced game, or if turned up high enough to compete in the fast paced games, my accuracy was shit for sniping. But a regular mouse off to the side for when I need added more precision for sniping fixed that for me.

But for regular every day stuff track balls are great. I am not sure why they did not take off better than they have either.

I feel the same way, I love trackballs for work but I haven't had great luck with them gaming. Right now I'm working a very click heavy job where I find the trackball is saving my wrist from added stress.

Nobody makes a true gaming trackball, outside of arcade stuff one would have to modify. I would love a on the fly sensitivity knob/button in a thumb ball mouse with 2-4 programmable buttons. It would let me get rid of the mouse I keep plugged in solely for sniping.

There's you're gaming trackball. Has four buttons, the top two are programmable.
The ball twists for scroll, works like MAGIC.

I just need to find a replacement ball for mine. The red is kinda boring.

I'm also going to end up reviving this thread. Sorry. :(

I bought an M570 but can't stand the blue. I have a ThinkPad and I'm very OCD - plus red is my favorite color. I read that the Trackman Wheel doesn't work in the M570 but vice versa works fine. Why is this?

Are there any red balls that will work in the M570? Why wouldn't it work? What size are they?

Not sure, I have both, and have used the blue ball in the Trackman, and always assumed the red worked in the M570. I just ried it and it does in fact NOT work worth crap in the M570. I do not know why, but I would assume that they use different sensors.
