630hp V8 Skateboard

Lol, seemed to be 'snailing', sure if he jumped it he would fly off. Maybe a cheapo Honda engine would have sufficed at that speed.

Yeah for publicity stunts. I'm sure MTV, VH1 or TruTV will be all over the unveiling of this with Tony Hawk at some point...

Waste of time IMO. And a waste of a perfectly nice engine.

It's not a lot for a car - it's a lot for two cars. Maybe it's a lot for a truck.

That thing should do 500mph.

I'm surprised the rotational forces alone don't flip the damned thing over.

I mounted a model airplane engine to a skateboard once. That was scary enough !

Reminds me of that V10 concept 500hp motorcycle Dodge built. They sold a couple to collectors but as far as I know no one ever drove it.

Yay, lets mount a huge V8 onto a board and ride it like at .02 mph. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Agreed. This was probably just a 'proof of concept' that it could be done. Everything can be accomplished with enough ingenuity and the resources to back it. That doesn't mean that it should be done.

Honestly I have been drag racing all my life and my motor put's out 758HP on motor alone not including 350 shot of NOS. I have a hard time keeping my car straight, if that motor is making as much power as they say the higher the RPM it turns the more it will tourqe over and that torque will be greater than the weight of the rider keeping him from going straight.

I see them getting it up to about 30 40 mph, then hitting it, and it start pulling hard right.

This is kinda like building a monster-truck just to crush soda cans, theres gonna be lots of hype, and lots of photo ops, but absolutely no action (there is no way that board is safe over 20mph). Tony Hawk is a skateboarder, not a race car driver. It's like asking Lance Armstrong to ride that dodge V12 motorcycle

This whole setup make me wonder if Tony Hawk is getting too old now, he has to rely on publicity stunts to keep from being forgotten

That is insane. I can't wait to see how it turns out after the Dec. 3-5 meet. How is that thing not going to flip over at full throttle? Is it AWD or RWD? Great sound.

Yah,

Kindof a dumb-assed publicity stunt if you ask me. You won't even get any cool internet riding vids out of that. At least with those 1400cc shifter carts there are some pretty neat track and street vids of people actually using the things.

630hp eh? hmmm, think was probably idling at 1100rpm, seemed to have a lot of overlap on that cam, probably running 12-13:1 or so from the sound of it with some high octane leaded gas. Sounded badass though. Now let's gut it, put 9:1 internals in it, throw a blower on it, toss it in a Holden/Ford hybrid Mad Max style and do some damage :)

Who's crazier, the guy who rides the 630hp skateboard or the guy that rides this Dodge Tomahawk motorcycle built around a Viper V10 engine?

We used to put 10-15hp weed whacker motors on the back of skateboards with handle bars.
That was enough speed to kill yourself easily. This is just another YouTube stunt.

10-15hp weed wacker motors? Don't you mean 1.0 to 1.5hp weed wacker motors?

inquiring minds want to know WILL HE BLEND??

If he's going fast enough when he wrecks out, his insides will blend with his outsides and all of it will get liberally spread over whatever surface he's unlucky enough to hit.

The guy on the skateboard.

The Tomahawk is at least driveable, if not streetable.. The skateboard, you're just kinda standing in front of the engine as it takes you wherever it goes. The most you can hope to do is lean the platform a bit to steer.

Also, notice the one thing the Tomahawk has that that skateboard don't. BIG HONKIN BRAKES.

The only thing you've got to stop you with the skateboard is whatever surface you impact with.
