Did anybody here re-purchase Divinity 2?

For Steam users, the re-mastered version of Divinity 2 is selling for $26 - this includes the expansion pack, and the original game, but with the overhauled graphics, which look quite a bit better if I'm to judge by the trailer.

Also, the game has been rebalanced - the original game was too difficult, and consequently, no fun.

Did anybody here bite on this?

God damn it, you'll never guess what just happened.

I visited the Steam page for Divinity 2, and just sat there looking at it for about a half a minute, telling myself not to buy this title. I got up from my computer to pour myself a beverage, and when I came back to my computer I tripped on the carpet and went flying forward. I reached out to brace myself, and my hand came crashing down on my mouse.

I must've accidentally pressed the left mouse button, and the cursor must've coincidentally been hovering over the buy button, because without even realizing what had happened I discovered that I had bought the game. Jesus, I can't believe that I was somehow able to agree to the terms of use as well? It must've been a double click?

Just... unbelievable how these things happen. Wow, I might have to put in a ticket with Steam for this one.

^ I'm not sure if you're trying to be funny here.

However, it is not possible to buy a game on Steam with a single (or double) click until and unless you add the game to your cart (1 click), choose to buy it for yourself (1 click), your credit card details are saved in Steam, you agree to the TOS (1 click on a tiny checkbox) and then your accidental last click was on the 'Buy' button.

Nice. Might have to check it out. I liked parts of Divinity 2 when I borrowed it from my brother. Had some really nice ideas behind it, even if it had a lot of problems. A re-mastered edition might be fun to try.

You're either completely uncoordinated or a terrible comedian.

Slightly misleading, its $40 to those who do not own D2 already. I might get it, since it has the original game remastered and the expansion pack. How is the game overall? been looking for a hack and slash.

Pretty fun. Turning into a dragon is interesting and does change up the gameplay a little bit.

I played this game in January - and it was VERY difficult. The re-mastered version, with the better graphics, is apparently better balanced, and (from early reports) more fun.

I'll let you know tomorrow how improved the graphics are. The original was a decent enough looking game, but the new graphics in the trailer look a lot better - being a skeptic, I have a feeling that the trailer is an exaggeration, though.

I hate when people keep saying stuff like "I can see the difference between 30fps and 60fps" or the opposite.. It's not a matter of being able to "see the difference between 30fps and 60fps" at all.

It's the matter of perception between the synchronicity of the current framerate and the refresh rate. If the game was giving 30fps and the refresh rate was 30fps, it would look a hell of a lot smoother.

What?

How big is this game? Kind of like Oblivion as far as size and amount of stuff to do?

30 FPS cap is a game killer.

Takes some interest level down for me to be sure.

I heard this game was terrible. I wasn't worried about graphics as much as gameplay for which I see ne'er a comment in this thread about that.

How's the gameplay? What can it be compared to?

I suppose it is Two Worlds-like, but not horribly broken and lame. Strangely, there aren't any bugs I've found either, even being a Gamebryo game. Towns and cities never feel empty, there are always a ton of people to talk to, trade with, do quests for. To me, the last 1/4 of the original campain was retarded, I'm not sure if that has been fixed in the remastered version. The first 3/4 wasn't bad at all, they are promising it is much more polished now.

I'm playing the new expansion, so far I'd give it a 7.5/10. Not bad, somewhat charming.

Shocking.

Hmmm... I'll have to keep this on the radar somewhere at this rate.

I've been playing it (never played the non-remastered version, aside from the original demo briefly.)

It's a decent game, but a few things really bug me:

-30fps limit (I sincerely hope they fix this)
-combat system is acceptable at best and horrid at worst... it's basically a click/hotkey spam fest, and it's ugly as heck with the 30fps limit (animations are not fluid enough).
-general Gamebryo cheesiness... movement is not fluid at all (no inertia, choppy/laggy movement up and down hillsides, river banks, etc), ugly light rays rendering, and so on
-story is really weak. You're just kind of thrown into the mix with almost ZERO backstory, unless you've played Divine Divinity.

Now aside from those issues, there is still a lot to like. The environments are pretty and they're pretty big, giving you a lot to explore. There's a pretty good variety of loot. Lots of characters to talk to (with great voice acting, almost across the board), lots of side quests, lots of chests and other goodies to find if you go off the beaten path.

Overall I can't recommend this game for $40, despite the amount of content. It feels extremely unpolished. At $20 it's a "try the demo first", at $10 or less I would call it a must buy.

I agree with the Colonel - unless you're bored and want something now, or if you just love fantasy RPGs. It's a good game, but not great.

Too bad the Steam deal isn't 50% off for owners of Ego Draconis... Then I probably would have bitten.. 33% off just isn't enough for an expansion. The remake of Ego Draconis would have to be pretty awesome to justify paying for it all over again, and it just doesn't sound like it, from what I've been hearing.

I would say it was the double click...funny how that happens...Wabe gotta say your humor runs about like mine. Juvenile and people seldom get it...Well done... :)

Except everyone knows that Wabe buys everything anyways. In this case, more than once. ;)

Game was okay, some weird design decisions, story was lame tho. I didn't notice anything cringe worthy with the graphics tho so i guess the 30fps cap didn't bother me.

hrm, never heard of it. $40 is too much for me. maybe if it goes on sale for the holidays....

I don't remember the '30 fps cap' from ego draconis...

If it's 'remastered' I may give it a shot. Divinity 2 had such potential IMO but was ruined by poor pacing near the end (maybe they remastered that part?) and a really lackluster latter part of the game in general (remastered it hopefully?).

Really tempted.

Here's a nice little update from the devs - they've released a hotfix so you can lift the FPS limit, among other things. After playing at 60fps my enjoyment of this game has gone WAY up! Here's the link:

I have been playing the hell out of this. I put 12 hours in it over the last two days...I know, for alot of you thats nothing but for me thats a hell of alot of time to devote to gaming. This game isnt bad at all. Im really enjoying it. There have been a few times where I died and had to figure out a better tactic but for the most part its been a great and beautiful experience :D

For everyone holding out on this great game just because of the 30 fps cap. Dont. All you have to do is change a 0 to a 1 in a single xml file. Man thats difficult I know. It probably took me a whole hell of a lot longer to do that then type this post..oh wait. No it didnt.

How do you remove the frame cap?

How do you remove the frame cap?

Steam\steamapps\common\divinity ii - dragon knight saga\data\config.xml

The XML actually has instructions on what to change. Its pretty simple. I was incorrect about the digits though. You have to change the line that says <MaxEngineFPS>30</MaxEngineFPS> to <MaxEngineFPS>0</MaxEngineFPS>. So you basicall change the 30 to a 0 and save. You can open it in notepade or notepad++.

I just finished another four hours lol!
