HardOCP Team recruiting......important to maintain top spot!!

OK, over the years I have developed a mild rapport with Kyle, fearless leader of HardOCP. This came about from me always emailing him from all over the country after, ahem, sampling a number of alcoholic beverages, and him not getting a restrainning order. It was at this time that I started folding and have been doing it since. Recently my son and I(read that as: my son)got into it a lot and used our new hardware to its full advantage. I have been seeing/reading that we are about to become the second place team in about 17 days or so. I emailed asking Kyle to make the next 'join HardOCP folding' post more passionate. He basically said, 'Write it and I will look at it.' So, I figured we could put our heads together and see what we can come up with. Do we have any writers amongst us? Just thought we could give this a try.

i suck at writing and have had a few to many beers tonight to write anything of importance but im sure some people could come up with something..

...I am still at work for another hour...and then I will be having a few cocktails myself...I figure we have about a week or so...The update usually goes out on Mondays...
 
The top spot is gone. NVIDIA bought it. They bought it so they could use it to market with. Get that in your head and get over it. If you want to beat NVIDIA you guys need to build more GPU machines.....it is that simple, but we simply do not have the resources to counter NVIDIA.
 
Do you think EVGA gives a shit about DC? I guarantee you that NVIDIA has fully subsidized EVGA's efforts so that it can use the number 1 DC spot in the world for marketing its GPUs and CUDA.
 
KB we know they bought #1 but we also are still holding out hope that all of our new systems coming online (lots of SR-2's with hexas) along with their complacency will earn us #1 again a lot sooner than it took them. I doubt all their members folding now are going to be folding 6 months after they take #1.
 
Hmm, never thought about Nv's involvement before, makes sense tho, If we see new cuda adds then I guess well know for sure

and its not so much about beating them per say, we all know they are gonna pass us soon, we just want our last hoorah, that and to build a strong base with which to mow them next year or two

I hear we even have a hex core giveaway coming up after the current i7 giveaway is over. Life isn't about always being #1 because nobody who plays fair will be at #1 for very long. It is about doing the best of what you can with the resources that you have. As a result, i'm proud to fold for a team like this, even if that means I fold for a #2 team.

I never suggested any different.

I get a mail yesterday telling me that Steve and I are not passionate enough in our support of the DC team, and quite frankly it pissed both Steve and I off. That is what encouraged me to post in this thread. I am just stating the facts as I see them and as for your response, I brought up NONE of that. I am just saying that losing number 1 was bought and paid for by team green, don't think any different.
 
This may sound a bit rash, but until we stoop to EVGA's level and offer some sort of comparable rewards program, I highly doubt we'll ever be able to top them again.

Someone said you were'nt passionate? hmmm, that explains the tone in here. Not sure why someone would say that tho, we've gotten more front page time from you guys now then we were last year at this time, not sure why someone would say that.
 
Moar GPU MACHINES = $$$$PROFITZ$$$ for nvidia, = more FILDING@HOME $$$$BRIBER$$$$ = we will be past EVEN SOONER THAN NO GPU MACHINES

CARPET BOMBING is the only answer. BURN THEM WITH VERY HOT FIRES

Perhaps, but once that contest is over, the sticky will be gone and that'll be it for F@H exposure in the video card section. A permanent F@H sticky would provide much more of a long-term benefit for the team.

maybe not

if the mods help us with changing the sticky from time to time it might actually grab more attention than a single, permanent, non-changing sticky
 
I don't even fold for [H] (I fold for another team), but in the past I HAVE folded for [H], and the closer the deadline comes, I might throw in all my rigs for a couple days for one last "Hurrah!" for Team#33

Hitting 4billion first would be nice. It is amazing that our member sign up #'s are so high but yet we only have 900ish active members. Are any stickies in all the other forums or a posting on the homepage out of the question?

Oh would you please join us as we make our final stand? That SR2 is begging for a chance to run for team #33! The sooner the better as we are trying to drag out this overtake as long as possible :)

thats because [H] is one of the oldest teams in F@H so your seeing about 10 years worth of folders compared to a lot of newer teams..

lol its only a short 600 mile drive to north west washington then a short 3 day boat trip in to alaska :p

..are we going to see the gpu client installed with nvidia drivers in the near future like we did with ATi not too long ago?
 
Here is what I have:

What does folding mean to me? Why should I get involved? Those are not questions I really cared about until I hit my mid 30s when suddenly, or so it seemed, a lot of the people that I know, family, friends, acquintances all started to be diagnosed with cancer. Folding@home looks at the root causes protein folding (mis-folding) which is involved in cancer as well as numerous other diseases such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, and Parkinson's disease...You might not think that it will make a difference in your life but it is a mathematical certainty that you or a loved one, or someone you care about will be stricken by one of these diseases. Please help scientists understand these diseases better by helping out by simply joining Team 33 with your folding client! It's simple, it doesn't get in the way, and by joining Team 33 you will be joining a family of folders right here on [H]ardOCP.
