evga releases reference 1g 460s

sweet, is that TR with the life time warranty? or the 2 year one?

opps my bad, thanks.
mhm i guess 2 years is enough...
for many it is but I usually consider 3 years to be the minimum for me. its funny how everybody talks about EVGA's lifetime warranty when in fact most of their cards don't even have that.

I ordered a pair of the Superclocked ones from EVGA. I don't know if anyone has every ordered direct from them but their customer service is superb. I ordered at 230PM their time and they shipped my cards out that night and I should have them tomorrow. I'll give you guys a report.

yeah, just give out the lifetimes warranty evga ^^
but how many cards do die? hmm.
and waiting for it Anti-h

im thinking about ordering one, if i step up will they give me a lifetime warranty with the new card or will i be stuck with 2 year?

good catch that one does have the lifetime :D
those 460s or wait for 6xxxs :(

I kept my 8800 for a year and a half. That is without a doubt the longest time a video card has ever been in my machine. 2 year warranty for most is more than enough.

So to clarify: reference coolers are better at cooling the video card and are quieter but they warm up the case. EE are worse except they don't warm up the case?

This is good news for people who want the stock cooler but I sure hope they continue to make the EE versions. Or better yet, make the EE versions with a better fan. I want a GTX 460 but there is no way in hell I am buying one of those with the stock cooler that puts half of the heat inside your case.

Worst case scenario for me is that I wait until next gen to buy a new gpu I guess. I don't want a GTX 470 or 465 since they run too hot and use too much power, and I don't want a 460 with a stock cooler because of it putting all that heat inside your case.

It's correct that the reference coolers in this case will warm up your case but not always. The reference cooler on the GTX 465/470/480 are all EE coolers but they are much better quality than the EE coolers on the GTX 460.

It depends on the quality of the cooler. Some EE versions are the best, some are crap. If a company uses a good quality EE cooler that should always be your first choice.

Doubling up the SKU's is never really the optimal solution, and I'm not sure why they're going the 2yr route as most people buying EVGA are doing so because of the support options after purchase, as the cards aren't always the best solutions (like the noisy EE 460 models).

Just ordered a 01G-P3-1370-TR from EVGA's site. If it breaks after 2 years I'm gonna bitch and moan and show them a screenshot of their site saying lifetime warranty. :D

This may work, but keep in mind most companies have disclaimers as to accuracy of content. Not sure this applies since the etailer and manufacturer are one in the same. Good Luck and congrats on the purchase.

Hey now, don't be spreading misinformation like that.

Most of their current cards do have lifetime warranties. There are a select few that dont. The only TR (2 year) warranty cards in their entire 400 line are a few of the 460's, you can dish out an extra 10$ in almost every case to get the AR (lifetime).

However, their gts200 series, and 9800 series are mostly LR and TR (3 year) warranty. But if you judge a company's warranties based on their 2 year old products.. well... nobody should go to you for your judgement...

wtf is your problem??? I never said anything specifically about the 400 series now did I? looking through ALL of their cards available on Newegg, MOST DO NOT have a lifetime warranty just like I said. perhaps instead of accusing me of spreading misinformation you should check your facts first. and also I said I prefer a 3 year or better warranty and most certainly was not judging the company. please leave your ridiculous, inaccurate and accusatory comments to yourself if that's all you got to say.

Nice overreaction there buddy.

You're still judging /old/ cards with /new/ warranties, and you expect a company to warranty their old products for life? Thats just silly. They want people to buy new stuff, and will apply warranties to reflect that. And on this forum, for all intensive purposes, people will be buying the new cards, and not those underpowered artifacts, so passing a judgement based on old product with regards to the forum we are on, is just silly.

personally i wouldnt have a problem with the 2 year warranty except that it does not allow you to take advantage of step up according to a previous poster, guess i will be waiting for them to get lifetime warrantied 460s back in stock.

well how about you admit you were wrong as you were the one spreading misinformation not me? and I am not judging anything or anybody when it comes to EVGA and their warranty. I simply said that many people associate a lifetime warranty with EVGA when in fact most of their cards do NOT have that. you took a simple factual comment and tried to turn it into something it wasn't. yeah I then said I prefer a 3 year or better warranty but that goes for anything I buy not just video cards. so again you were wrong and very out of place with your reply to me.

btw its for all intents and purposes not intensive purposes. ;)

yeah i think im gonna pick up the EE version, gotta have that lfietime warranty and step up, especially considering there is speculation on updated cards in the new couple months. i know people complained about the noise of the EE fan, but reviews i have read said that while it is louder, it is still not loud.

I honestly can't even hear them over the 120 MM fans in my case. Also never seen the fans go over 40%. I thought they were pretty quiet. /shrug.

Is the EVGA GTX 460 1GB EE (01G-P3-1370-TR) still reference? Aka third party coolers and voltage control still work on it?

Well, I got the 1GB EE in my sig. Temps are 37 idle, 74 load at 100% fan. Not bad for the hot summer. That is much cooler than a lot of the others are getting for 840/1970. I've not tried taking it higher yet, but it is completely stable so far. I have read that these cards can handle up to 90 easily.

100% fan speed? lol

100% fan speed must be terribly noisy. And you're getting 74c at that setting? Where are you, Death Valley?

Okay so what you think is fine is good enough for everyone else, just because you say so. Uh huh.

I just loaded up my SLI setup last night and I'm happy so far. However, these cards run pretty hot. After an hour of BC2 by GPUs are around 87C. They are also much louder than my 5870, I can't imagine how loud a 470 or 480SLI system would be.

I just found out that my case's front 140MM fan died, so I'm looking at replacing that and seeing if that improves temperatures to my satisfaction. The backplate on the case is hot to the touch! Wow!

Good luck with that.

That screen shots shows a 2 year warranty. How is a screen shot after you fixed the error going to satisfy the customer?

Should just tell evga that you bought the card based on the lifetime warranty now. Maybe they will give his card a lifetime warranty after he explains what happened.
