NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Final Specs & Pricing Revealed

Right, just because I don't bash nvidia every silly way possible like you I'm a troll . Get serious...

Besides, you keep talking about how it's slow, hot, late, pricier, and performs poorly: why on earth would someone want a product like that :p, buddy?

it's funny, your tone completely changes every time NV is about to release a card :p Enthusiasm is good, but you always seem to lean to the green side!

either way, the overall rumors are consistent. it's hard to ignore them when there is not 1 single source saying anything to contradict them

so you want some bogus source to contridict another bogus source? interesting indeed.

you also said that overall rumors are consistent? you mean like how you bashed the 480 not having 512 sp's few days ago? and that 480 was going to cost $700 dollars? consistent indeed.

how do you know it's bogus? They have proof that it is legit, they have the physical card, pictures of the cards, pictures of the boxes from AIBs.

All you have is your reputation(which isn't a good thing in your case), and your word, which holds no weight.

Take your little Romper Room spat to PM before you get banned.

If the release date is the 26th... what will the in store availability be like? Will I walk into the PC shop and see it stocked? or will they be shipped out to stores starting the 26th...?

I don't believe for the coming months you will be able to "just" walk into a shop/store & see these on the shelf. You can believe people are going to want this card, and I only expect to find a shelf with the tag sitting where the card was sitting the first 30mins.

I really hope my local Fry's get's it, though I'm loving my 5870, I still would like to try out the 480, but don't sleep on it come launch day. This card will sellout ;)

When is the 5890 expected to surface more or less?

How do ATI cards like the 5870 or even 5970 run heat/power/energy wise vs. what we're talking about here with the GTX 480 if all of this holds? Are they all space heaters pretty much?

I have a 9800 GTX X2 and it would heat my room it got so hot..My 5870 does not do that..
I know apples to oranges:)

They will give you some leeway and this tit-for-tat has been ongoing. Now that we have prices and specs (but no benchmarks), expect arguments to heat up. [H] isn't a dumping ground where you can dump at will.

Parja, I hope I'm wrong. If they are giving reviewers only 1 of each card then yields are *really* in the toilet.

no they were a newer version and the fan was manually set at 100%

Yeah i know this isn't on the topic specifically but it was relevant to the comments that I made on this topic.. sorry for taking those 4 seconds from your life

Now back on topic: Here's to hoping for a kick-arse review from [H]ardocp.

We get that you own the site, cool. Otherwise the majority of your posts give me the impression that you're an egotistical douchbag who puts himself on a pedestal.

Saying "we" when you post ignorant insults just makes them more ignorant and more insulting.

The difference is I am not a nut hugger like many of you. I enjoy the site but find his condescending/rude tone toward posters in various threads to be unnecessary.

Back on topic.

What you call nut hugging we call respect so check your attitude at the door.

Not taking shit from people is egoistical and being a douchebag? Since when?

Back on Topic?? Do you even see the irony in that? What the hell did you think Kyle was trying to do?
Who does a nobody douche like you get off by telling the site owner for trying to get the thread 'back on topic' yet you can??

why the fuck do debates about hardware always result in personal attacks...

Back on topic please.

damn when did new hardware get people so worked up?

Yes nvidia is late and it's looking like we might have another FX style card. So what? ATI has had the same thing before. Both companies have made and will probably in the future make mistakes. At least we are getting some competition again.

BOOM! Headshot on KrAzY-KaMeL. Now back on topic please.

QFT, because I know no one else has the stomach to do so. There are quite a few times where I've seen Kyle handling things in, what I would describe as, an unnecessary and abrasive manner. There's no need to get nasty, or threaten, posters if they're having a side discussion.

On-topic, Fermi is likely going to be a disappointment. It's far too little and too late at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if NVIDIA runs smack into the 5000 series refresh by the time they get supply to meaningful levels. Oh well, here's hoping all this work lays a solid foundation for the next 3-5 years, otherwise it'll be just as worthless as the FX series.

I concur, I am upset with Nvidia, starting with the 8800GTX I was leaning towards them and rushed to buy a 280GTX for which was super-expensive at launch :(

I have learned from this experience and the GTX480 looks to be in a very similar position (one huge, hot chip with defectivity/yield issues).

IMHO the only thing Nvidia has going for it right now are the good drivers and strong developer support

I know this has been asked a million times, but is this going to an actual launch? I thought we were past the days of giving passes to companies that do paper launches? The prevailing attitude seems to be, well yea it's going to be a paper launch, or worse. But no one seems too upset about it.

If Nvidia has nothing in volume, then don't call it a launch. Call it a preview or whatever, and let us all know when actual volume shipping happens, in other words when it launches.

Being the site owner doesn't give you some kind of special priveledge towards humans or give you special cognitive powers. I'm not calling anyone out but even site owners have egos. It does of course give you the power to fully manage your site but there is a difference. Kyle certainly adds a lot of value by running this site.

Anyways, it seems like the vr-zone and b3d SP/clock tumors are nvidia fed and intentionally conflicting. My bet is that fermi gets released at 512sp/725mhz. It will be "better than expected" because the community was expecting lower clocks and lower sp counts based on the rumor mill. It's a good marketing move, and something that ATI utilized to great effect during the rv770 launch.

"* The intended GF100 has 512 SP clocked at 725/1450/1050MHz with 295W TDP. It should still be released in the future but just not now. For this launch, GTX 480 has 480 SP with clocks lowered to 700/1401/1848MHz at 250W TDP."

I wonder when the 512 SP version will get released.. anyone have a clue?
A swedish hardware news site said that it will get released in april.. i hope it's true.

From what I heard, the highlyclocked version will be sent as review samples... but the cutdown version will be on shelves at release date. The "Ultra" will also be aviable for purchases, but some time later.

If it's true, then people gonna get pissed, but I'll be able to confirm it, once I get the sample next week.

So which one beats the 5870 by 5-10%. The 480 512SP ultra? or the 480 480SP normal?

Boy this is getting all confusing now. Specially if they send out Ultra for review samples, but only the 480gtx normal and 470gtx is released.

/confused
