Bad companyb 2 Bugs and issues Thread

Where does the game sit right now? I have been kind of watching the BC2 threads here on [H]ard but don't feel like digging through tons of posts and info to find out where the game sits with respects to playablility.

Have they patched it yet since launch? If so are the people that were having problems playing better now?

How buggy is it still? Should I buy or just wait for some more patches. I'm in no great hurry to buy a game and not be able to play Multiplayer.
 
My experience has been that when the game works, it works fine for the most part. The bugginess is when you're trying to use the server browser and connect. The only problem I've had when I've actually connected to a server is longer load times, which seems to be an issue ATI users are having right now.

"When the game works, it works fine for the most part"

There seems to be lots of people saying this.. What the heck does it mean? It's either working or not working. I don't understand that statement.

Not yelling at you, just curious :)

it means when you can actually connect to a server the game works without issue. my experience has been that if you're going to run into a problem (bugs, CTD, etc.) it will be in the server browser. once you join a game you're good to go.

It means that the issues this game is having is being able to

1.connect to EA
2.connect to a server
3.getting kicked from the game by PB
 
I get some strange slowdown in the middle of a match on my laptop. Everything will be going fine and then I am down to 2-3 FPS for a couple minutes at least. Even the sync is messed up because I will try to run somewhere and my guy will be tip-toeing along. When this passes the game is normal again. So far I just noticed this on my laptop and not the desktop. The laptop is an Acer with a 9600GT and 4gigs in it so it's not lousy, have most of the settings to med/low currently with no AA.

So it is still buggy and broken. Not fixed yet?

This is exactly the answer I was looking for, thanks guys. Gonna hold off on buying it until it works period. Not works good when it works.
 
Other than not being able to connect to many servers (generally all the ones with a reported ping sub-100ms) I have been able to play without any hiccups. Did not have the beta before this. Win7-64, clean install from original DVD, installed/updated PB during installation, no tricks.
 
There is a bug with the V-optic upgrade. If you get a rank increase while useing the V-optic it disables the optic till you respawn. its super gay/anoying
 
Hey guys how is the final version different from the multiplayer beta?

im trying to find any specific changes that they have done since the beta but i cant seem to find any?

Guess you don't own the full game?

Updated HBAO that actually works (great)
Changing FoV in .ini
High settings weren't in beta
40MM nade launchers have to travel so far before they arm
Fixed server browser
Added K:D to scoreboard

That's just the stuff I can think of off the top of my head.

Fixed server browser???? That's not what i'm hearing.

Those other things are good though, I applaud them.

No.... I don't own the full game . I own the one that i cant play.

maybe I'll try though . I gave up yesterday.
 
Here's an issue...one that I thought they had fixed in the beta:

ATI card owners experience much longer load times.

There have been times where it's taken me so much longer to load the map than everyone else that by the time I get in the game, an MCOM station is already under attack, or a team has already captured one of the capture points.

on top of the other issues i posted earlier , I also have had mine lock up and i had to do a Hard restart .
 
played for a couple of hours tonight without issue.except i don't seem to be getting any unlocks. been stuck right before the motion sensor for a while.
 
The game is so hit or miss for me.

When I click join on servers, nothing will happen until one decides to finally work. Once I enter a game, I'll be able to play a couple of matches without problem....then I'll get randomly kicked for either lost connection to network or some Punkbuster issue.

Another problem is crashing to the desktop after a game ends.

I'm usually one of the first people in a game though- my specs are getting long in the tooth: E6750@3.2ghz, 4gb ddr2 1:1, 512mb 9800GT stock, 640gb WD Black. 6Mbps/384KBps connection, WinXP 32bit

Same issue here, the motion sensor shows as the next unlock and the progress never moves.
 
No clue if its something in my system or not, but 2 times while playing BC2 I had my usb devices stop working [lights on my logitech keyboard turned off, mouse stopped working] and the game froze. Then when I rebooted my motherboard lost its date and time info, like the cmos had been cleared. Again, not sure if it was the game or something funky in my rig.
 
Was the beta full of all these problems? I really want to pick up the game but I am not about to go through another Fallout 3 experience.

See my post here from the main BC2 thread. I had the same issue where all my BIOS settings vanished on a BC2 crash. User 'ocellaris' in that thread said there must be somthing wrong with your PC, but your post confirms it is a BC2 issue.

My system temps look fine to me when playing and my PSU is very solid. No such problems with any other software

Certainly was

Sadly most of the issues haven't been fixed in the retail version either and some new bugs have surfaced.

Even so when you do get to play it's lots of fun

Think it's back to WoW for me then. I had quit to play MW2 and to wait through the beta for this to come out. Sounds like a miserable experience for most. It's not a good sign to have a 6 page thread of bugs and problems with a new game.

Many seem to have had less issues than me, so I wouldn't discount it just yet. I think in a month or two things will be much better, I kind of wish I had waited for things to improve, but I had to have it on day one!
 
I would say annoying more than miserable. The issues like have been said are more connection issues TO the servers, than playing the game itself. I have just made sure I play on multiple servers, and in my history, now have a nice little cache of servers I can play on. (ahem...Favorite server tags appear to be broken also)
 
Does anyone have a 5.1 speaker setup and have the rear channels work for you? Every other game works fine, but I can't get my rear speakers to output sound from behind me. I have the the audio on "War Tapes", but I don't see an option for speaker setups anywhere. I have an X-Fi Platinum card hooked up to my Logitech Z-5500s and my on-board audio is disabled. Also, is it normal for explosions to make your woofer sound like you're listening to lil' Jon and the east side boys?

Edit: Oh, and I've noticed for some reason the header in the "Ping" column where it says "Ping", it's jumbled together with another word on top of it so it's not legible. It's no biggie, but it's been there through 2 installs.

Annoying - a good way of putting it. Also frustrating would be a good description. I don't seem to be able to crack the disconnects. The 'Your connection to the server was lost' message happens for me every 15 - 30 minutes without fail. It's impossible to start and finish a game. I have everything set-up on my router, ports forwarded, PB updates manually, Firewall off on router and software, TCP Timeout increased and I even set-up UDP punching on my router. This is the first online multiplayer that has me beaten at this stage.

Just found this an 80 page thread on 'lost connections' and my router and BB supplier are mentioned a few times, ah great

For punkbuster issues there is a thread floating around (I can't find the link) it might be on the EA uk forums.

Basically run the manual PB update from their download site.

After that make SURE you have the .htm file that is needed in the directory (I put it in both directories).

I had the other files but not the needed .htm one

I have a 5870 with 10.2's and haven't had any lockups or crashes. I did have the PB issues but haven't had that since I found the thread on it.
 
What's frustrating me is I had absolutely ZERO issues with the beta. It ran awesome for me. Now I have nothing but crashes.

I don't think that's an accurate assessment. It's not perfect yet (BF games never are at release), but I think the biggest problems are getting resolved on the server end. I think the "unable to connect" types of issues are fading away (there was a server maintenance scheduled early this morning). There are certainly still some stability problems, and some gameplay issues that they'll sort out through patches if the history of the series is any indication.

MOST people are raving about how great the game is.

I can definitely get past gameplay issues. As long as they aren't crashes or lock ups.

Being unable to connect to servers, getting kicked from PB, things of this nature are unacceptable to me.

Once these are worked out I will pick it up.
