Hi.
I just sold my LG W2353V cause I couldn't stand the bleeding it had.
Now I'm thinking about:

a) Asus MS238H (swedish price in US Dollars, shipping included -> 385,28)
b) Benq G2222HDL (swedish price in US Dollars, shipping included -> 206,40)
c) Benq G2420HDBL (swedish price in US Dollars, shipping included -> 308,08)

d) Asus MS227 (only 1680x1050 non-led lcd) (swedish price in US Dollars, shipping included -> 247,68)
e) Samsung XL2370 (most expensive one of all the listed screens, at least here in Sweden) (swedish price in US Dollars, shipping included -> 455,31)
f) HP 2310i (is this a non-glare screen? it's non-led anyways. swedish price in US Dollars, shipping included -> 295,01)

g)HP 2710m (glossy screen? non-led. swedish price in US Dollars, shipping included -> 555,76)

I have not had the chance to see any of these IRL. Seems like I have to wait a few months before I can see them in a local store. And I can't wait that long.
Is there really a big difference between like XL2370 and P2370 (both Samsung) in terms of even backlightning and contrast? Regarding tv-sets I personally like the led lcd models better despite the problems they have right now.

Please help me figure this one out. Right now I'm using and old Philips screen in 4:3 and it really sux. :p

Thnx for the answer.
I have found 3 other potential monitors (non-led):

Samsung P2770H
Benq M2700HD
HP 2710M

All of these cost around 550 US Dollars including shipping.
Any more suggestions other than the non-led Benq 24 inch?

heres 4 more that i'm stuck between besides the E2420HD....

ACER H243H http://www.buy.com/prod/acer-h243h-...-000-1-dc-2ms-1920-x/q/loc/101/210996419.html
ASUS VH242H http://www.buy.com/prod/asus-vh242h...r-20000-1-5ms-1920-x/q/loc/101/210447662.html
ASUS VW246H http://www.buy.com/prod/asus-vw246h...1920-x-1080-dvi-hdmi/q/loc/101/210447660.html
Viewsonic VX2433WM http://www.buy.com/prod/viewsonic-v...80p-lcd-monitor-with/q/loc/101/210558274.html

Then there 2 good LGs:

LG W2361V http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+23...18072891677&skuId=9274616&st=w2361v&cp=1&lp=1

LG W2442PA-BF http://www.ncixus.com/products/35314/W2442PA-BF/LG Electronics/

If i were you i would go with either the BenQ E2420 OR Acer H243H, then one of the ASUSs in a close 3rd.

If u want bigger then 24 inches, that 27 benq is pretty good and Viewsonic is coming out with a 24 and a 27 inch in April.

Still can't figure out which one to buy. I read that the Asus MS-series only has a gamut of 72%, which could mean that you get some color banding. Never seen any banding on a monitor before. How common is that? I had a Sony TV that had some banding issues though.

Well. How about you. Have you made up you mind Freekshow22?

yea i decided to get the Acer H243H, its on sale at Staples for 200$. If i didnt get that one i would get the BenQ.

That resolution is bad for console gaming...u would get black bars which suck. OP get 1920x1080 resolution.
Don't listen to this, OP.
The reason there are black bars @ 1920x1200 is because the monitor is larger vertically and has more pixels, it's a clear advantage.

shut up kid, u have no clue what u are talking about, u basically agreed with me. i said " u get blck bars" then u say "The reason there are black bars @ 1920x1200 is because the monitor is larger vertically"

the point is why would someone want to have black bars when he can get a 16:9 screen which is the perfect resolution for CONSOLE gaming. and it will fill the entire screen. get a clue then post a comment OK?

You should probably read better before throwing a temper tantrum. The OP never said he wanted a monitor for console use, he asked for a monitor IN GENERAL. Now you may have magical abilities and can read his thoughts, but that's probably not the case at all and you are telling people what to buy based on your expectations.

1920x1200 is better for monitors. Please tell me to shut up too okay? I for one don't give a shit.

Are u retarded? everyone has a console numbnuts and if he doesnt he wouldnt be linking monitors with 16:9 aspect ratios. and how was i throwing a temper tantrum? by saying the guy doesnt know what hes talking about? if so u need to get off his nut sack and mind ur business. k?

You are in [H] console boy. There are quite a few people who game only on pcs. A 16:10 monitor is alot better then 16:9 for gaming on pcs and using pcs, and the guy did know what he is talking about. And I'm not on his nutsack, I am a pc user.

im done arguing with you. u sound like an ignorant asshole. i gamed PC all my life so i dont know why ur calling me console boy. If the OP was a PC gamer he wouldnt be linking monitors with a 16:9 resolution. once again get a clue. You= PC FANBOY =)

When did i say 1920x1200 wasnt better for PC games? i didnt.

I am currently in the process of linking 4 16:9 22" monitors, it's called a WORKSTATION:

Why the hell are you even basing an argument on getting a monitor for console gaming if he is going to link monitors (Which he also never said)? If the guy is a console gamer then why would he get a monitor for console gaming, not even mention it in a forum for enthusiasts, and expect an answer?

Yes, you should be done with the topic. If I were you, i'd study more about pcs console boy.

Hi.
Actually I would prefer a 1920x1200 since I like the height better. Black bars in 16:9 movies or not. :D But since most of the new monitors come with the 16:9 ratio, I've linked to a few of them. Btw, I don't play console. Have sold my ps3, wii and xbox 360 a few years back. Got bored and never played on them. When I play I play on my PC. :D

But if anyone got a tip on a good (a new) 16:10 monitor then shoot. I would actually buy the HP w2207h if it were better (and new). I have only linked to TN screens, I know. But I already own a pretty good HP L245WP.

Anyways. I'm always open for suggestions. The Acer 27 inch looks great. But it's not available in Sweden right now.

LOL read the words u wrote in BOLD. are u 10 years old? people get monitors for console gaming because they're cheaper and have faster response times then TVs. For the third time GET A CLUE. =)

Like i said i was and still am a PC gamer my whole life, just because ur a PC fanboy doesnt mean hate on consoles. Get a job so u can afford to buy a console then maybe you'll stop crying.

Also i doubt hes planning on setting up a workstation with 4 monitors.

I dont understand why u would post 16:9 monitors when ur a PC gamer...now i look like an asshole. :( there are still a lot of 1920x1200 16:10 monitors out there. a good one would be the ASUS VW266H http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236047

Well the 1920x1080 monitors are getting more and more popular and are priced quite a bit lower as well. Wouldn't surprise me if 1920x1200 monitors will basically get replaced with 1920x1080 because they will be so much cheaper as they get mass produced on a whole different scale. Just guessing ;)

To be honest. I don't really care about 16:9 or 16:10. But I do prefer the 16:10 since for instance a 22 inch 16:10 monitor seems bigger (and better) than a 23 inch 16:9. At least in terms of height.

16:9 is nice when watching movies or like you said for console gaming. ;) If I were to get a 16:9 I would probably have to go bigger. 23 inch is just too small. But again. I could as easy get a 16:9 screen, if its any good. Thnx for the link. Any suggestions on the gamut-thing? Is 72% really that bad for a tn? (meaning the Asus MS-series which looks great).

Well I have all 3 consoles, but they are on tvs. I could see the point of getting a monitor for a console, but the OP should mention it.

Next time, don't jump to conclusions man. No matter how much you know, assumptions make an ASS out of U and ME.

Anyone else on the 72% gamut thing? Will that leave visible banding on for instance a black/blue background? (which goes from black to blue)

I put it this way. This forum is filled with guys (and girls) who has opinions and different taste and view on things. If any of YOU were to buy a new monitor today. Which one would it be and why that one?

It don't have to be the ones I've linked in this topic.

Banding should not be an issue on a monitor featuring a 72% gamut.
(Of course, an hypothetical gamut of 20% would be prone to banding since the colors would overlap in such a small color space.)
In fact, banding can be caused by bad gamma curve, dithering issues, limited bits per channel (6 bits are common on TN panels), etc.

My two favorites monitors are currently the Dell U2711 and the Dell 2709W.

Freekshow22 - nice try at an apology.

It's very simple - you guys can argue the facts all you want but when it gets personal, mods or admins step in and usually doesn't end well for someone.

Enjoy your week off. Next time it gets worse.

Ok. Roger that. I've been looking at the Dell UltraSharp 2209WA also. Too bad it looks so ugly. =)
Two others are Samsung F2380 and LG W2220P.
