The BenQ V2400 Eco is the new LED backlit monitor from BenQ. I'm guessing its basicallly the G2400 series plus LED. After everything I've read about THAT monitor I started looking around fruitlessly for information about it or, even better, a review. all I found was this:
http://www.tvsnob.com/archives/028156.php#more
which says it will be out in mid october in china but doesn't say anything about the US or much about the monitor itself except that it's "green", which is kinda not here not there. Does anybody know more about this?

I just tried looking for more info on this and there's still not much to be found. Anyone find anything?

Kind of off topic, but anyway ...

I bought 2 different BenQ 24" monitors last Xmas, and I am looking for one more as a gift for this year. I really Really like my BenQ's. No problems of any kind. They look great.

Thanks Coffee! That's what I was waiting for. The issues they talk about don't really apply to me, and the better color, speed, and brightness make it perfect for gaming and movie watching, which is what I'm going for. The design is sweet too. Just a few more weeks...

What you got? What you getting?

Screw the Samsung LED. I think I am going to get this. I have a white computer tower.

V2400Eco is now in stock on BenQ's web site.

$309 is waayyyyyyyy under what that review said....hmmmm...yup I'm gonna get it now. I'll let you know what I put in the "plant holder" when I get it!

Ehh I'd love to see some input lag measurments on this baby.

BenQ%2BV2400%2BEco%2BInput%2BLag.jpg

Yeah I haven't noticed any input lag at all in anything that I use it for, not surprised it's so low.

OMG this monitor just came out and people already have input lag for it. The E2420HD has been out for months and still theres nothing on the internet for its input lag. Thats all i need to know to decide whether to buy it or not.

That is awesome. How many white monitors are there? Makes it nice for people with white computer cases.

I dont imagine white would be very good for eyefinity. White bezels breaking up your image seems worse than black ones. Maybe you could run black electrical tape along the edges which join the images.

Who cares about eyefinity.

Who cares about eyefinity.

Ummm, me? :p

This cheap LED monitor seems like the perfect Eyefinity monitor as 3 of them wont break the bank for slightly better quality than your average cheapo LCD.

Who cares about eyefinity.

I have to agree with this. I know some people are passionate about eyefinity but I would almost say this technology will not really help the pc market all that much. If you look at eyefinity the growth potential from this tech is to expand something that we already had instead of revolutionizing, it really is geared at selling more of the same equipment to put on your desk.

Now I do think eyefinity would be great if monitor vendors got there heads out of the sand and actually worked with AMD\Nvidia moving forward to sell monitors with removable bezels where youcould interlock the displays to form a true cinematic field of view. As long as I have to view the same games or whatever across two to three screens with black bezels seperating them I could care less about this tech.

I can see where it is of use for the business professional who has to follow several things at once from there workstation though.

How cool would it be to have "modular" displays that you could seemlessly place side by side? This is the issue with most of the tech that comes out of China and Korea, they are status qou countries that are not forward thinking and inventive. New technology is developed and those two countries have no answer to it except to keep selling what they have always sold. This is where Japan and the US usually shine it's too bad both of them have outsourced most everything.

What you say is true, however as someone who enjoys flight sims, racing sims, RPGs and to some extent strategy games I see Eyefinity as a great thing because it gives a panaramic view for quite a low cost.

Things like modular displays may come out in time (though from what I understand it'd take a redesign of current monitor set ups), but they'll cost a lot more and still have seams where the images join, so you'll never be able to be perfectly happy unless you buy one of those massive curved displays for many many thousands, then you'll still find something else wrong with them.

Besides, most people who use Eyefinity say once you're gaming your mind no longer focuses on the bezels. So even though I look at screenshots and see nothing but an image broken up by bezels, you can't deny people who use it seem happy, so I wont judge it until I'm gaming on it.

It is not fair to have you judge what I think such as "you'll still find something wrong with them" and "you can't deny people who use it seem happy".

I never eluded to either of them. I simply stated that monitor companies are not embracing this technology as a way to move forward but rather as a way to expand what they already have on the market. I do not see this as a great leap of technology for that reason and see no reason why I would embrace it.

My opinion has nothing to do with the happiness of other people who like it. That is very subjective to each person. I do not speak for everyone, just myself. Therefore you have no right to judge what I think of others.

But this is not a cheap LED.

The Asus here can be found for a 100 dollars less. I bought mine in December for 190 shipped.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236075

For a savings of close to 300 dollars You can just make your own stands/mount them to the wall/etc.

Regardless I think the eyefinity is even more of a worthless technology than SLI.

LOL I agree about the SLI as well. Why do we need two or more video cards + three to six panels to play one game? Or view something in panorama?

For myself I prefer the $199 xbox 360 that I bought on my plasma tv.

Perhaps I should have said "many people will still find something wrong with them", happy now? :p

I wont modify the "you can't deny people who is it seem happy" because that is a true statement, so I'm not sure what you're getting at with that one. The people who use it are happy with their set ups, saying they dont notice bezels and there's not a lot more you can say about that.

I'm not sure why you think I'm attacking your personal view (or whatever you think is "not fair" in my post), just sharing that your view is not the view of others. That's how discussions work, you put forward your opinion, others respond with theirs. Let me explain how a discussion works, you said things along the lines of...

"[who care's about eyefinity.] I have to agree with this."

"but I would almost say this technology will not really help the pc market all that much."
To which I reply: people like me, hence why I started my next post with

If you've actually played a few hours on an eyefinity set up and feel the bezels detract, then that's fine, I wont argue with your personal experience. All I'm doing is putting forward the opinion of people who use the set up, and saying, like anything else, it can't really judged it until you (or I or anyone else) have used it themselves.

And I didn't really address what you mentioned in the 2nd half of your post because I didn't have anything to add regarding that.

See it will lose support. Development companies are shedding jobs and video game sales are already in the bucket. Even 10 percent of the market only has something that is beyond an 8800GT.

Regardless if any company wants the best chance of getting a decent publisher in this economy it is going to have to be a game that can give a decent return on investment.

With the rising market share of the PS3/Xbox/Wii because of the price wars they had going on last year I would not be surprised to see people in the last 1 year and in the next 2 years completely abandoning the platform.

This is all coming from a guy that has a 5850. Your margins are not there in PC gaming due to digital distribution. Sure it is great, but I am willing to bet 9 out of 10 people that buy games own both a PC and Xbox and most are always going to buy a similar game on the Xbox due to residual.

You see the massive revenue increase due to Steam shedding these games below their 2-3 month residual value. It is not like Steam is turning a massive profit doing this. They probably get to go ahead from the developer due to make up the costs of development on the platform.

If people are so inclined to always spend 50 dollars on new computer games then why does Valve hemorrhage these games after 2-3 months? You do not see that in the console market.

That was a very well thought out and articulate reply. I agree and would expand by saying that also in the consoles you have the option of selling your games when you are through with them. Unlike the PC market where it is more common practice to distribute digitally or with a single key code that can not (or is not supposed to be ) reused by more than the original owner.

I pretty much gave up on PC gaming over a year ago and really do not miss it that much. What's more if my 360 dies I have an avenue to having it replaced for free. Plus all of the other content that comes with Xbox for free as well it makes it a very hard argument for myself to go back to PC gaming at all.

Mmk, so you're basically saying the tech will lose support because PC gaming is dying. Using that argument none of us should be buying good PCs because its not going to be supported anyway. Forget Eyefinity, we shouldn't be wasting our money on 5970s and GTX295s at all, and the GTX 4xx series is a waste of time because the platform is dying.

You could be right, but that's really a separate topic and has less to do about Eyefinity and more about gaming in general, you can go over to the PC gaming/hardware forum and have a lovely discussion about the percieved death of PC gaming. ;)

No. My argument was that if PC gaming is dying why do you think developers are even going to spend time implementing or testing Eyefinity technology if your market share is less than half a percent?

I can not see many people in this economy that want to line up to buy a 1000 gaming computer only to drop another 600 on monitors, when there is nothing available right now on the PC that does not run equal or better on the Xbox 360.

The difference between a 250 dollar video card and 3 displays is there is production value in a video card. For instance someone may say "hey I would buy this new video card. I mean I work on my PC a lot, and I want to game every so often to why not?"

Those same people who are buying into Eyefinity are basically doing it for gaming. I can not see many people who need 3 computer monitors for home computer use.

Well many games already work with Eyefinity, and these are games developed before the technology was even available. I'm sure future games will continue to add things like fish eye correction, which I see as the main "compatibility" flaw with eyefinity.
