Hi there, i know its officially supported now,
but a couple quick questions:

1) Is there any performace loss when running Win7 on a mac? If i had a PC with an i7 860, 8gb of ram, and a 4850 vid card running win7, would i obtain similar performance to the exact same spec'd imac running win7?

2) Never used bootcamp before, but if you have win7 loaded on a partion, do you just select which OS to boot when the imac booting?

3) Could you potentially have 3 partitions on an imac? 1 running mac osx, 1 running win7, and 1 running XP. Dont ask me why i want to do this... but is it possibe?

4) I have a dell 3007wfp-hc, any issues with dual monitor (using display port -> dual link dvi adapter) in bootcamp?

Thanks for any help.

1. No performance loss, yes similar performance compared to a non-mac pc
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. mini-display port to DL-DVI should work, no guarantees

appreciate the quick reply..

I have already tried the displayport -> DL-DVI to my dell in osx, works no issues. But you are saying it may be an issue with winxp, or win7?

Well i guess ill find out today, wanted to know the answers before i bought a copy of win7.

Thanks.

display should work with win7.

agree with all of the other answers, as well

No need for XP with Win7.... you can run programs in XP-mode within 7.

Only with Pro and Ultimate Editions (err, and Enterprise). However, in ANY version of 7 you can run XP in a virtual machine with free software (Virtualbox is probably the best of the free "desktop app" virtualization softwares, since it allows for passthrough VGA acceleration), and that's actually better (IMHO) than the crappy implementation of XP-Mode.

hey i havent picked up my copy of win7 yet, can someone tell me if i need a retail copy? or will an OEM work with the imac? huge price difference....

shouldn't matter. you might run into issues with upgrade versions (the win7 needs to pick up a previous windows installation).

even without it you can call in and talk to CS and they'll activate it for you.
