Razer Abyss

I saw this news when they emailed me the newsletter. All I can say is this has gotta be the dumbest mouse ever. If I only want a 3 button mouse, I would go with a generic mouse. I'm already kinda dissatisfied with the 2 less button mamba had compared to the lachesis

Other than the lack of buttons, how do you like the Mamba? I have a DeathAdder than I really like, but I'm really tempted by the promise of lag free wireless gaming.

hey sethk, my opinion on the mamba is the same is pretty much every elses. Razer wasn't kidding when they said it's absolutely lag free when using it under the wireless mode and I have no complaints about any performance of the mouse what so ever. On the other hand, as I mentioned earlier, I disliked the fact that razer removed the 2 extra buttons on the other side of the mouse that lachesis had (even though I don't use it very often I still want it). The other thing I dislike about razer mice in general is that their scroll wheels don't have side scrolling function many other mice these days have. Finally, the battery life is just way too short for me, 14 hours of usage is the absolute maximum that the mouse can handle in wireless mode. God forbid if the battery eventually lose some of its charge capacity. Even now, razer doesn't offer a battery replacement program to my knowledge. In terms of comfort, mamba can't compare to the logitec mx revolution but it's still fits the hand better than the lachesis. Like people said, it feels more like the death adder when you're holding it. Then again, I'm not so picky regarding how comfortable a mouse feels.

Razer needs to advertise the Deathadder more instead of making these ridiculous 'high performance mice'.

Releasing a mouse with 12 buttons near the thumb is only going to appeal to a very small market.

Ridiculously overpriced.

A $5 WMO is still pretty much superior in every way (durability, grip, lower lift-off) other than the negative accel issues.

This mouse should retail for $15-20 tops.

I wonder when Razer is ever going to make a mouse that doesn't suck. Seriously, the ergonomics on their mice is horrendous.

My first Razer mouse is the Naga and coming from using a G5, I like it quite a bit. It feels very nice in my hand and I REALLY like the ring finger rest. I would say it is on par with the ergonomics of the G5.

I love Razer mice and in general I agree with the company's philosophy. I don't want 25 buttons on my mouse, but I want it to have the best sensor possible, a good shape, and be durable. I love both my DeathAdder and my Salmosa. I'm not sure where the Abyssus fits into the line though, because they already have the Salmosa which is a basic 3-button mouse.
