Ive tried to remain open minded about this and after having played it on my roomates computer im confident in saying its worth it.

Infinity Ward took a lot out of the PC experience. They DID take out dedicateds, they DID hurt the mod community. They also made an amazing game. While the game is lacking a lot of functionality PC gamers have come to expect its also not a throwaway. They have implemented Matchmaking and IWNET (I know you hate the idea) as well as they possibly could have. While they have 'abandoned' PC players they have not simply thrown us garbage. This isnt a 'cheap console port'. Its a PC game built upon console foundtations. While I hate the idea i appreciate they took the time to make the PC game real and not a throwaway cash cow. Thats what I like.

At the end of the day I want a developer to support the PC as much as they do consoles. As far as I can tell IW has done that here. Not what I wanted, but a hell of a lot better then I was expecting.

Lol? They removed leaning, they lowered the player cap, they removed dedicated servers. You expect us to pay 60 dollars for a CoD4 mod, that removes most of the good things CoD4 had? No thanks.

Really? Cause everything you just said refutes that. They made the minimum amount of effort to get it on the pc and left it at that, which absolutely screams "console port."

I'm sorry, but a shitty excuse for mp and a 4 hour sp campaign? For $60? No.

Now that MW2 is out and being played, I highly suggest you get some opinions from someone who's played it extensively..............the time for endless bashing of the game based on speculation and regurgitated comments is over. It's both tiring and useless to hear the same negative comments over and over and over again.

A game does not have to be the best nor "have it all" to be enjoyed, especially if it has no competition currently (other than playing older games which are perceived to be better). I'm seeing that a few gaming communities/Clans are going to adopt MW2 and they're working on how to do it; now that's constructive and positive thinking.

By the way, if you shopped around this game was available for ~$40, and still available for $50.
.

They basically pulled every reason to play on the PC. If that's the future of games, I can get a whole console for the price of a good video card.

If what they made for the PC makes you happy, why do you play games on the PC?

FPS just doesn't work on consoles, I really think a mouse is necessary.
So considering that this is hardly worthy of being called a PC game I'd say its not good.

I would say I'd prefer a mouse actually. So if I had a PC anyway, I might take the PC version because of this. But if this level of play is all I did, it would be time to reconsider my gaming platform of choice.

But what I really have a problem with is the pretense this is not a port.

I wish makers would be honest about when a port is a port which is just about every big title these days. It would at least allow those makers who are making a dedicated PC game have a selling point that would give them their due attention and investment.

Hmmmm the reviews I saw made it look good. Seeing as how I've been out of gaming for a few years I guess I'll work my way up the CoD chain first. I really thought MW2 was going to be awesome. I'm disappointed there even has to be a debate about it. I was expecting it to be above that.

Addomino: well yeah but that could put most of us in prison. In my country they all wear catholic school girl uniforms. If I was a full on perv it would be torture living here.

Anyone who will play that game extensively obviously likes it to some extent. I don't think anyone expects it to be a completely garbage game. However, for such a large franchise it's a complete let down in terms of features. Just on the principal of being slapped in the face I don't think a lot of PC gamers will be happy about it.

What kind of review site has the balls to give MW2 a bad review? I've stopped caring about reviews of big budget games. They're never fair.

Absolutely none.

I'm not looking for bad. I know this isn't a "bad" game.

I'm looking for fair and balanced (sorry for the pun) and not a clear "I'm on the overhype bandwagon" which is all I'm seeing thus far. Even the Bomb has let me down. They didn't even bother to have their PC guy in on their console only ass kissing review. They were pretty much my last hope on the subject.

My money is on the table right now that bets not one outlet will have the guts and the integrity to not get on the hype bandwagon and really give this thing a proper review of good, bad, and ugly.

There's no way this glorified expansion pack is a perfect or near perfect game like every single review and its score has said thus far. All I see is a sea of 10/10, 9.5/10, and 5/5s and A+s everywhere. Maybe on the consoles only that's true but that might even be a reach.

We certainly know that's not true in the context of the PC.

A 5-6 hours tops single player campaign (that's an expansion pack) and a fairly good but handicapped and incomplete online mode for $60 is not an endless series of 9.5/10's and 5/5s game to me. No way.

I don't think anyone was actually saying the game is bad. In fact, all the whining is that such a good game is being made worse *on purpose*.

I'm sure the single player is fun. I'm sure it's a thrill ride from start to finish. I'm also sure 4-5 hours isn't enough to justify the cost.

I'm sure the multiplayer is fun...when it works. I'm sure the new weapons, models, maps, etc are all nicely made.

The problem is that everyone was anticipating this one and really looking forward to its release only to find out the things that made it head and shoulders above the consoles were being removed. It's just not worth the price of admission for a short singleplayer and handicapped multiplayer. If I could resell it I might buy it, beat it and sell it but because it's tied to Steam I'm going to have to wait until it's cheap enough to justify the cost which just might never happen.

I get the feeling I will never play the game outside of my brothers X360 (puke) or unless I get my parrot and eye-patch out that I haven't worn since I was a penniless teenager.

I think it just takes some getting used to, I'm the same way, I can't stand fps on console because I'm horrible. But I used to kick some ass at Halo on the original Xbox. I played COD4 on the 360 for a weekend at a friends place, and I came around to it and got pretty good. You're right though, auto aim is retarded.

Some people get caught up in the details. So they removed dedicated servers and lowered the player cap, like that affects the actual game play in anyway.

The actual gameplay is awesome. The game play makes a game, not whether or not it has dedicated servers or a large player limit or any of the other reasons why people who don't own this game hate it so much.

There are much more weapons, attachments, customization options, and perks. The maps are excellent and suited well for the number of players IW capped it at, whether it be 6v6 or 9v9. Who the hell liked a 64 man District, Ambush, or Shipment game, where it's just spawn, die, spawn, die, etc? Also, the layout of the new maps is more realistic with nearly all the buildings being explorable.

Not being able to choose your server and getting a laggy host sucks, don't get me wrong, but it hardly breaks an excellent title. Buy the game, play it for at least 10 hours, then comment.

This is the beginning of the end for FPSes made for PCs :(

Everybody is whining like a bunch of babies. People who have actually played the game really like it and find that everything you kiddies are crying about isn't bad at all.

Just learn to adapt to something different. It seems you may actually like it.

and if people don't like it they are out 60 bones... not a good deal in my book.

@ prochobo - Don't come with this realistic crap.

Nade spamming and gun rushing have been used in many wars.

seriously? just very few people like it does mean the majority of us have the same feeling.

I have it, and I am totally disagree with you.

Single player is alright, same as first one. but multilayer is the most useless thing ever.
it took me 3 min to find a freaking host, and everyone have like 1 bar connection?

the hosting migration also happen way too constant, about 2 min in average. seriously annoying.

you think thats fine for you? sorry mate....not fine for rest of us...

i agree with everything said here.

based on what little i've played (~1.5hrs) the MP is awesome and lag-free. if the SP provides a similar experience to that of COD4 (even if it's shorter) then this game will be well worth $60, at least to me.

FYI, can be bought for $45 here: http://www.g2play.net/store/Call-of-Duty-4-Modern-Warfare-UNCUT-VERSION2-Steam-Key.html

i've never purchased from this site before, but i asked about it on Rage3D and was told it's a reputable site. seems easy enough considering all you're doing is buying a key and then downloading via steam.

MW2 is not worth it... I could have looked past most of the things removed, dedicated servers, mods, leaning, fov locked, lower player count but the fact that they only added a hardcore mode to two of the game types made my decision not to buy easy one.

i agree that is a shame. i love HC S&D.

Go ahead and disagree with me, but the fact of the matter is most of the people playing have no problems and are happy with the experience. Despite all the whining it turns out you are in the minority.

I feel sorry for those people who make their decision based on that criterion and miss out on a great game as a result.

Realistic as in the maps and environments, not gameplay or guns. COD4/5 were flat as can be. There's much more depth in the MW2 maps: greater variance in elevations, more buildings to enter, more cover, multiple routes, etc. It is also actually hard to see someone from a distance vs COD4/5 and camo does help somewhat.

Yeah, most people like McDonalds and don't have a problem with their hamburgers so they must be great!

I hear the singleplayer is about 5 hours, a game that short and that expensive NEEDS a solid multiplayer to be anywhere close to worth it.

Had they not screwed over the MP then they would have had the sale from me even at £5 over the average, at the moment it's barely even worth the 11Gb torrent.

No, it isn't worth it at all.

Top tip: people place value in different things. Trying to state that "it is worth it" makes you look silly.

Like there aren't hackers in every other online fps...

Other FPS games don't have dedicated servers and the ability to moderate your own server removed by the devlopers/publishers under the argument that "it helps us control cheaters".

I have only liked the first COD game, after that it was all downhill...

But a 6 hour campaign is just laughable. and I would take a HL2 mod > MW2 anyday as it has dedicated servers and more then 6v6 or 9v9 tops multiplayer modes? What is this 1993 again?

Sure the game is probably awesome for consoles matchmaking and all that crap as it nicely places the diapers on console gamers that they require.

This game is a slap in the face for anyone who is a real gamer, and everyone who has bought into this bullshit madden game with guns should jump off a bridge.

Yeah, most people like McDonalds and don't have a problem with their hamburgers so they must be great!

They must be great for most people. And mcdonalds is making tons of money so it's working out well for them and their customers. And that's what's important.

While I personally hate mcdonalds that's irrelevant.

Sometimes you just have to accept being in the minority and having an opinion that just doesn't matter.
No reason to get pissed off because people are enjoying a product that you hate. Different strokes for different folks.
