Saterdat i bought the 260 card Overclocked to 684, 1188, 1476 today i saw that the 275 was only another 30 bucks running 648, 1260, 1440 i changed cards in the middle of a a WU ? i think its called and it seems i lost 5 seconds a percent? anyone have any input on this?

so the time per WU went up or went down? 275 should be faster then the 260..

Its 5 seconds slower. thats not to say i didnt goof something up. but i expected and noticable speed improvement. I wish they would hurry up with that new card. ferni its called?

The workunit could have been bugged when you switched GPUs. Try deleting the unit and downloading a fresh one. Also, try overclocking the 275. You could get much higher shader speeds out of it which would give you a substantial PPD boost.

You should generally overclock your cards manually. That will also allow you to avoid overclocking the GPU and RAM speeds (which will hinder stability) while only raising the shader speed, which will get you the most PPD and the most stability.

thanks zero ill try just the shader speed. The gpu doesnt help with folding. nv monitor shows it going between 98% and 100%

This.
I have a GTX275oce and all i did was bump the shaders up and it averages between 8-10,000ppd depending on the work unit.
As you can see from the image below I bumped the shaders up quite a bit from the stock settings :D. Sorry these images are from an older WU but it's not any different now.
Also i agree with deleting the WU and getting a fresh one. Something isn't right there.

ill have to get that fahmon. my shader wont go past 1475. and its called a processor in the new overclock tool

Not sure what your using to OC but i use Nvidia system tools.
Some people use other ways like Riva-tuner but this works fine for me.
All you need to worry about bumping up are the shaders, nothing else really needs to be OC'd for a boost in PPD. I went slow to get up to where I'm at right now, just to make sure it was gonna be stable. Been at that speed now since i started folding and haven't had any issues yet.

If you find that things are running on the hot side you can also use it to turn your fan speed up some too.
It will also allow you to set-up profiles so that when you start up F@H it will automatically set your shaders and fan speed to whatever you set it at :D.

the 260oc is faster 8680 3dmark 06 the 275oc only made 8664. Plus the 260 being $40 bucks cheaper. both cards where overclocked to there max speeds. with the fan wide open

Have you tried wiping all your video drivers and reinstalling the latest version?

yes though booth cards use the same driver the 260 will run 700 core/1200 mem/1500 shader or prossecer its called in the drivers now

The GTX275 should do those clocks easily as well, and probably even higher.

lehmann, that must be a faulty GTX275 or something cause you seen my screenshot of what my shaders are set at (1655) with my 275 and it runs stable with F@H.
Does the shader setting even go that high on your 275 or just wont cause of stability? The clocks your getting with the 260 are just barely higher than a stock 275, trust me a 275 will go much higher and still be stable.

I would still try removing the drivers again and maybe use driver sweeper. Then reinstall the 275 and a fresh set of drivers.
If that dont work then maybe it's a faulty card.

the 275 wouldnt clock much past stock speeds without crashing. not sure if this is normal but it also ran 10c hotter. already returned the 275.
