Adding Movie Artwork?

What section are you in DVD Library (Vista) or Movie Library (Windows 7)?

You can use DVDxml.com to allow WMC to grab the image and metadata.

Make sure your media is named and organized correctly then install MediaBrowser. It does it for you.

There are a few applications you can use:

The above mentioned 2 are good options.

MediaBrowser works if you only want to use the MediaBrowser button in media center.
DVDxml.com uses a client which allows you to log in to an account you create on their website to pull data.
MyMovies is a very popular application that constantly monitors your folders, but is a bit bulkier in install then the rest.
DVD Library Manager is a very simple install which performs searchs on IMDB and Amazon.com for clipart and movie info. I've tested this and it does well about 98% of the time, although it did not save the data to my Windows 7 DVD XML file. I'm currently looking into why not.

IF you only want coverart and info on the movie doesn't really matter, you can search google images for the movie artwork you want, save it to each individual movie folder and make suer the coverart is a jpeg file that is named "folder.jpg" then it will show up in MCE.

Just put a picture you want in the folder with the VOB files called "folder.jpg"

metabrowser will get images for movies and tv, as well as actor/plot/season details and banner images for use with w7mc or mediabrowser

very simple to use, and will monitor folders in real time to track any changes or additions.

Augmenting MediaBrowser (million times easier and intuitive then MyMovies... bleh, I hate that software...) with MetaBrowser gets you HD backdrops for all your movies.

MediaBrowser + MetaBrowser + Windows 7 here... love it.

Ive also used MyMovies and have nothing bad to say about that. MediaBrower CAN be a bit more resource hogging if you choose to use the nice and fancy coverflow style, but boy does IT LOOK NICEEEEEEEE.

MetaBrowser is buggy for me, im in W7 x64 so its not FULLY supported, but works. And it works nicely. You have to learn to make your folder menu structure properly or it'll get lost.

Heres a tip that i didnt realize at first.

MetaBrowser is NOT something media center will see, so DONT WORRY if your folders are not 100%. All MetaBrowser is doing is grabbing the artwork/meta data for you. Sooo if you have like 4 folders seperated, DONT WORRY SO MUCH, use MediaBrowsers config program to setup your BUTTONS in media center, and let MetaBrowser grab your art/info for you. It'll save you some headaches thinking "omg this is showing up under MOVIES when its really a TV show" cause that'll happen to you if you are like me and have seasoned DVD box sets

You have to learn to make your folder menu structure properly or it'll get lost.

^^This is huge. If you have your folder structure correct for the type of media your using then you have a better success rate of getting proper metadata.

For example, my DVD's are structured like this: DVD\name of movie (Year)\Name of DVD.xxx

TV Shows: TV Shows\Name of TV Show\Season x\S01E01..etc

I actually had to fix all of my structures and then I purged the metadata cache and started over. If you're starting from scratch, get the folder structure and filenames straight first then setup mediabrowser..etc. Will save you some time.

There are also some other programs that will allow you to change the DVD covers, ie starkcovers, like my HD movies have Blue Ray covers..etc.

This is what's great about Mediabrowser, you can customize it to your liking..I have everything customized from the ICON that you launch MB with to the backround, added folder imagages for the different types of Media..etc. Sky's the limit.
