Hi guys

I have received a 1907fp panel and colors are not okay (like over saturated) as my samsung 226bw. Im wonderng that i would have the same problem with my recently ordered 2408wfp?. Is it the same panel type using in both 1907fp and 2408wfp?

I am pretty sure both 226BW and 1907FP are standard gamut monitors (around 72% NTSC color space). If they both look over saturated to you, either there is something wrong with your eyes, or you are used to a monitor with a color gamut significantly narrower than sRGB. The 2408WFP, however, is a wide gamut monitor (110% NTSC color space), so colors will be even more saturated than 226BW and 1907FP.

It is probably the TN version.

Dell 1907FP (*) has a 19 inch 8 ms TN panel.
Dell 1907FPV (*) has a 19 inch 20 ms PVA (LTM190E4-L02) panel.

Your new Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP is a fairly new Samsung S-PVA panel.

Dell 2408WFP (*) (widescreen) has a 24 inch 6 ms (g2g) S-PVA (Samsung LTM240CS05) panel.

You may have to "adjust" the color" and "brightness" on your new Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP, as Dell's default tends to be toward "hot" colors, and this is somewhat typical also for the Samsung 245T, 275T+, and the Dell UltraSharp 2709W, all of which use a very similar Samsung S-PVA panels.

My five-year old Samsung SyncMaster 910T (19”, 4:3, 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), Samsung PVA panel LTM190E1-L03, 0.294 mm, 170 degrees/170 degrees, 260 cd/m2, 1000:1, 25 ms) that I wish to "retire" is also PVA (not S-PVA which is newer and much better) and replace with a Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP, if can can get a reasonable deal on the Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP. Otherwise it's off to a HP LP2475w on a "demo" program that would be priced about the same as you paid for the Dell (after 15 pages of forms, and three-four weeks of processing/waiting), but I hate the required "color balancing", and for "text based work" still S-PVA panel monitors (such as the Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP) can seem "sharper with greater contrast and deeper blacks" than the HP LP2475w. However it is a fair second choice. A third choice is the new HP LP3075w, at about or a little more than double what you paid, through the "demo" program, but that would break my "cookie jar", aside from bending my desk downward. For my operation the Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP still seems like the best bang for the buck, especially if one can obtain it for or under $ 400.00 with "free shipping".

See my PM to, can you provide that info?

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks for ur reply.

What i meant was 226BW was much better than 1907FP for my eyes. Anyway according to ur link 1907FP is a TN. So 2408wfp should better than 1907FP right?

1000% - The "t" was added later on for "tn".

But it is "wide gamut", so you will have to "adjust", not a big deal.

buddy, the coupon i used expired y'day. and the price was $412 (with instant saving before apply the coupon). Just wait till price again back to $412. Usually they change it couple of time a week. Then use what ever the regular stackable coupon (FCZZ90DNZ2BX1N is for this week). This coupon do not work online. But call them and say u r ready to purchase the lcd, then no matter who is there, he will arrange it with that coupon since they get a commission from it. If u like ask for a quotation with the coupon, then u can complete the order with some cashback

rosh,

If you use an ATI video controller, the ATI CATALYST Control Center provides a tremendous amount of quick and easy color control.

I have nvidia 6000 series card. I have used a tool came with that. But still whites are not white, like muddy, BTW Spyder3pro need a hardware. Is there any good software calibration tool.

The Spyder3pro is a $ 169.00 kit:

* Datacolor Spyder3™ colorimeter
* Desktop Cradle
* Spyder3Pro™ Software CD
* Screen Cleaning Packets
* Quick Start Guide
* 2-Year Warranty
* Free Online Support

I have "lost" more than one colorimeter over the years . . .

You should consider a video controller update, as the old one will really be "working hard" and near the top of its limit for "native resolution", but we have the new Direct X 11 controllers arriving within the next 60 or so days . . .
