Worst game of the year?

ArmA 2 is interesting but needs some drastic UI fixes. Extremely unpolished.
AA3 was promising, until they fired the entire third-party developer team. Sorry, I don't want a Colonel Something developing a game they want me to play.. (but hoping they'll prove me wrong)
 
Is Arma 2 in the states? Or you guys just going by the demo?

You guys get the German version and do the english patch or something?
 
Well, it was nominated for best game of the year, and isnt out yet. (which is dumb, imo) So why not worst game...
 
Dawn of War 2 was a fantastic game. The campaign was great, and I normally HATE RTS campaigns. I have played through it twice.

Also Gamers Gate. If I ever buy it though it won't be until it is on sale for 50% off which I expect will happen in about 6 months.
 
Why the hate for Dawn of War 2?

My pick is Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust. Fucking painful game.
 
Because it bored me. Not enough tactics for my liking. I've never been a big fan of RTS so is my fault and should have known better. Go to metacritic and you will see some very low user scores for it. Some very high scores also. I guess it is either love it or hate it type of game.
 
We're only halfway through the year and we've already got a Best of and Worst of the Year set of threads? "so far" needed to be in both thread titles. ;)

I don't know about you all but the first half of this year has seemed really dry to me. I've played more of my older games and gone back than I can remember doing in a long time.

Legend: Hand of God is pretty bad...maybe not WGOTY as it was playable no major bugs or anything but dam...what a lame Diablo rip.

been playing with some RPG Games lately...

infamous is a pretty boring game in general, I have no idea how playing around lighting makes it fun, and same old styles again and again..... its fun to play for the first hour..

but later on, it is too repetitive and boring stoyline....
 
You're not even close to even having all your different powers an hour into inFamous, much less having upgraded them all.

Seems to me people here are mistaking 'biggest letdown' with 'worst game'. They're not the same thing.

I'm sure there's some adaptation out there that is ACTUALLY the worst game. Always are. Like "Terminator Salvation" or "Grey's Anatomy".
 
Damnation. Worst game of this year. Any other game do not even gets close to it. It's just perfect example on how to make bad games.
 
Far and away Prototype. Worst thing I've seen in ages.

Dead Space, though it looks decent gets serious demerits for a near worthless console to PC port. The controls are hideous and exclude anyone who is left handed by locking the num_pad.

I see what you mean, but games such as FEAR 2 or GoW or CoD4 for me personally were not really "as good as they seemed for many". Of course - yes it does not make them THE worst games of the year, but perhaps out of those played by the person who said it.

Yeah, it never drew me in too much in the first place, but I would imagine that it gets boring. Or maybe after the first few minutes of palying it, it got a bit unexciting for me.
 
FEAR 2 was a big disappointment but probably not the worst game release this year. Sadly it was not worth finishing

Left 4 Dead sucked too. It's a ton of fun for about 6 hours or so then for me at least, I found the lack of weapon variety and lack of gore to really detract from the game. When I play a zombie game, I want Soldier of Fortune II style gore. I want a ton of different weapons for dispatching the zombies as well. Destructable enviroments wouldn't have hurt either. They could have also introduced a larger variety of enemies as well. I had similar issues with Killing Floor as well. The two things I hate about that game are the Counterstrike buy system and the fact that all the zombies appear basically nude, and have less variety than they do in Left 4 Dead.

Both games are highly over rated.

I enjoyed the game well enough, but I have to admit it wasn't nearly as good as the first game and it has virtually no replay value.

Electing it the "Game of the Year" before being released is a bit much. However I anticipate that the game will be excellent if it is at least as good as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is. I've been playing that game since it was released.
 
Mid year best/worst game lists are good too as it gives other people ideas of what is worth buying and what isn't so far in the year. My HDD is chock full of games I haven't even played yet so need to curtail my game purchasing habits for the rest of the year. I've had Bioshock installed for a long time and haven't even played it yet except for maybe ten minutes and already Bioshock2 is on the horizon. I have FEARE and haven't played that yet either. Too many games and not enough time.
 
left for dead, i haven't felt like i wasted money on a game like that in a long time.

I don't really see how people play CoD4 multiplayer. I liked the single player but the multiplayer is just Grenade of Grenade 4: Airstrike.

If they remove Frag x3 and spammable Aistrikes, that would make it a hell of a lot more enjoyable.
 
There are some servers that remove the grenades and airstrikes from the gameplay. You can do that in the server console. You can actually restrict the use of any weapon if you want to.
 
you cant bitch about the cod4 multiplayer, its the bomb, just play promod..

Some of the new user made campaigns are GREAT. IMO I'd say that the new ship campaign is as good or better than most of the Valve made campaigns.

Know what makes the game lots more fun too? Turn down the difficulty, get shit faced, and find a server with a bunch of mic'ed up fools having a good time. If you're trying to l33t your way through Expert on every map and taking things too seriously it'll get old quick.

My wife really hates it when I grab a 12 pack and load up L4D.....
 
Left 4 Dead way to short for the amount of money I paid
I feel like this was a mod more than anything haven't touch it in months after the 6 hours or so of fun

Moreso the game than the booze. I like my L4D loud, and I hate wearing a headset, so I have to scream into my mic just as loud.
