Instead of bitching about games that sucks, why not bitch about the lack of time to play the game that give you the utmost euphoria. The game that keeps fucking with your mind at work. The game that keeps frustrate you on how the clock is so slow to hit 5.00pm. The game that could malfunction orgasms. The game that, really, harrass and exasperate and GNAW at your mind only until you beat it. Even then, you don't know why you still feel so compelled to replay the damm game, hoping that at a higher difficulty level and some mods, you can once again discover the euphoric satisfaction of the first time! :)

mine is Championship Manager 2009... nothing consumes your brain more than planning your budget for purchases and modifying tactics for the next game...

Every MMO. I love them but I would need a parallel life in order to play them how I want.

Finally downing a boss in a World of Warcraft the guild has been wiping on and hearing the cheers on Ventrilo is pretty euphoric.

Capturing the last point of CP_Junction in a 32 player server. I've played TF2 for over 300 hours since release and have played the map long before it became official. I've only seen it captured 3 times. I was always on the capturing team when it happened. Being the losing team in junction must feel awful.

Back in the day it was finding a great item in Diablo II or Ultima.

Then in WoW it was always getting lucky raid drops of just what I needed, and winning the rolls or being the onyl one who could use it!

I love finishing games. When I finally beat them, it's a great feeling! Although...FEAR 2 was a bit odd but still a cool ending.

Finding difficult things the developers put into games, such as the last Zodiac stone in the Deep Dark Dungeon in Final Fantasy Tactics. Man it took me forever to get that damn thing. But in the end it gave me a good feeling of accomplishment.

Magic: The Gathering, I was an awesome deck designer before I quit. And I was always designing new decks for it.

Eve online and even X3:TC need more time than courting a girl !

for me it was bioshock. i really enjoyed it. story wasnt what i predicted and it was new and refreashing for me. a couple things i could knit pick but not worth mentioning. last time i felt like that was when i finished unreal. i hated finishing that game was fun.

Warcraft II was awesome, I would think about different strategies all the time.

RPG, especially the good one, really reels you in. Make you feel like you are in that parallel world. When everything you do matters to the character you play, and how that character turns out reflect on the player, which is you, is how the game reels you in.

and i guess MMO does exactly just that. and especially when all the characters are reflections of real people, and the opportunities to impress are REAL! ..

guess the other game that i really really love is Red Alert 2 Lan game with friends. It is about fortifying your base with tons of defense. Lining up the small slope up the hill with TEsla Coils and try to withstand attacks after attacks is very, and weirdly, satisfying! :)

The last game to do that to me was Dead Space. Beat it about a couple months ago. Was a blast.

Dreamfall - Totally engrossing, imaginative storyline and characters. Didn't want it to end.
Call of Duty 4 - Thrilling excitement from start to finish. Can't wait for Modern Warfare 2.
Oblivion - Took me awhile to get into it, but once I did I absolutely loved it.

Old classics: Deus Ex, Half-Life 1, Diablo and Fallout all made huge impressions on me.

Getting away from an MMO is pretty euphoric.

I'm finally canceling my EVE: Online accounts. Haven't been doing the last 6 months except changing skills. I should probably give my billionz and stuff to someone.... maybe Hard Corp or maybe just a random noob.

The biggest Euphoria for me ever was beating Ruby in FF7, I wish there were still games out there that were as fast paced/immersive/and tactical as a Final Fantasy 7 boss fight.

There are many games that I like, but when it comes to classifying the experience as 'euphoria', it begins and ends with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I look at that game, I look at those graphics, and that's perfection, sure its buggy as hell, but when it works it brings tears to my eyes for an experience as a whole, it feels like you're there.

Half-Life 2 series.
(I had countless dreams about this game. Loved every second if it. Ep1 was my favorite. EP2 had my counting the second at my job, waiting, waiting ,waiting so I could go home and see if Alyx would survive or what happens to the citadel portal)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

(It felt great to have a good plot and story about different forces coming together to take out a corrupt group of people. Also it really felt good being tactical and seeing your team work together and advance. I really get the feeling like I was in war.)

Portal.
(I thought it was slow and dumb at first but I beat the whole thing in one sitting. Excellent game to say the least. Tricky and the ending was sooo good.)

Crysis.
(I loved the story and the twist. I beat it right after release. I was expecting aliens but I didn't expect it to go all out with them. ie, floating around in their "ship" and blowing up that last boss thing. Great game that I have beat multiple times. The aliens is the reason I wanted to play more and more. I was intrigued. If it was just Korens I would not have been as interested.)

Gears of War (PC)
(I honestly loved the story and the battles. Playing Co-Op with a friend just made the games enjoyment increase exponentially. Those little wretches made us scream haha. I would say great story even though it is kinda of vague on why we were doing what we were doing. I only wish I could experience GoW2 on PC.)

[not on PC]
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
(I would say this is the number 1 most euphoric game for me. I loved every single second of it. The story was soo deep with so many great moments. It was so immersive to me. I literally totally lost focus of where I was in reality and all I cared about was the game and the story when I played it. I played well past 3am countless times. The flash back moment of the game where the game went into metal gear solid 1, all pixelated and such. It put a tear in my eye, reminding me of my childhood when I was 12 years old playing the exact level on my PS1. the ending was so great. Like a movie. I hope the series continues. It is my all time favorite.)

I would also like to add that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and Dead Space had a good story and "survival" feeling to it. Not top on my list but I did enjoy playing them alot. (I guess I get too jumpy with scary games.)

To me, I feel like the best part of gaming is a good polished story that keeps you wanting to play more, wanting to see what happens next, and really feel attached to the characters (almost like a good book). I mostly play multiplayer games but 1 good Single player game can top any of the multiplayer games I play. Alot of my friends don't even bother playing any Single player games. They just don't know what they are missing at times.

Random n00b here (5 million skillpoints) ready to collect :D

/ontopic

Gaming with old army buds in Arma and putting a pain of hurt on other groups, that makes me smile big.

Another vote for Bioshock, the twist made me go "FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU- you bastards!"

But in a good way :D

Anything that requires a lot of teamwork is quite euphoric, you need a good balance of challenge and reward, the skill vs reward needs to be mapped correctly.

The end of the first mission in CoD4 is just awesome, that left me with tingles it was such an adrenaline rush, running through the boat as it tips, you know everything is hanging in the thread, and the leap to the extraction is done really well, you almost falling at the end is the icing on the cake, a real WoW moment that the CoD series delivers well.

Absolutely, playing 32 player CP_Junction and capturing the last point is simply amazing and gets the pulse rate skyrocketing. On one occasion I almost singlehandly won the game for our side, took all of the sentries down on one side with a Spy and then transferred to a Pyro and captured the last point by strafing aound the capture point. Rarely before have I been so euphoric in winning a game.

I have seen the blues capture the point on only about half a dozen times in the past 100+ hours. I play Saigns CP_Junction 87.106.187.151:27018 most of the time and my alias is BLADE RUNNER is you ever fancy a game. Pings could be prohibitive though...

Kind of funny...after playing CP_Junction last night for about 20 minutes in a 32 player server, red capped the final point LOL! It happened so fast and I thought about the posts in this thread. I havn't seen that happen too many times.

Kinda off topic: When I left WoW, I mailed a random <lvl 10 player half my gold. Then I found the guy that recruited me for a guild that I was in (before it eventually disintegrated due to childish behaviors) and sent him the rest of my gold along with any items that he could use.

On topic: I completely enjoy finding a good, cohesive team in BF2. Capable of really rockin' a map. Especially when its a lengthy ticket map (more than the usual number of tickets) so that you can spend a while wreaking havoc.

I thought only the Blues could capture the final Red CP. Confused!

I got way too many games that I havent been able to finish due to time:
Currently I am eager to play:
Fallout 3
Mirror's Edge
FarCry 2
Assasin's Creed
many more... :-(

As for Retro Games...cant wait to play many of the Lucas Art classics I was not able to beat when I was younger like Monkey Island, Zak Mckraken, the Dig, etc.

Left4Dead with Nvidia 3DVision. Killing zombies in 3D eats 3 hours per day of my life for weeks now .. addiction!

The first time I played the mission "Life of the Party" in Thief II. Good times.

I still play Thief/Thief II fan missions now and then. Lots of fun.

Morrowind was great.

BF 1942 and BF 2 had their moments of pure awesomeness as well.

yeah, this ^

boss fights are so tactical. gotta plan every freaking move. and sometimes gotta count their attacks so you know what comes next. FF7 was my all time favourite! so engrossing!

The game that i keep going back to is Stronghold Crusader. I can never get enough of that game for some reason

Half Life 2

I would count down the minutes to the bell at 3:10 (I was in highschool then), hurriedly scramble home, throw my bookbag on the floor and play until dinner. After that I'd half-assedly do my homework between sticking points in the SP.

Condemned: Criminal Origins

I had just graduated from highschool when this game popped up on my radar. With a summer off to do whatever, I quickly grew into a pattern of waking up and playing this game all day.

Team Fortress 2

This one is a little strange. I always pass it up on my game list until somebody asks me to play... but when I start I never want to quit. I can play for hours on end, and I always get a little irritated when I find that I have to exit the game or risk not getting things done.

HL2 Episode 2 had a pretty strong vice grip on me too, but like the previous episode it was over all too quickly...
