Can't get my fairly new 9600gso to be detected by WinXP ... in 2 different systems.

Yes, PCI-E aux power cable was attached and power supplies were beefy, one a 550W, another a 600W. Hardware manager in both systems show standard vga as the display adapter. Attempts to install drivers are greeted with a 'can't detect hardware device' type error or something to that affect.

The systems are providing a vid signal, just in VGA mode.

RMA time?

r u doing a clean driver removal first in safe mode?

two different systems with XP normally sounds like u confirmed a bad card but to me this sounds like a conflict driver issue. Maybe clean install of the OS and then card? Hope u dont have to rma.

Didn't bother as it was a Nvidia -> Nvidia swap. That might make a diff?

It might. What drivers were you using, and what were the old nVidia cards? For example, if it was the 9600GT in your sig and you were using 182.50 WHQL WinXP drivers, then you shouldn't need to do anything, but if the drivers were old enough to not know about the 9600GSO, then you may have an issue.

Yes the 9600GT was swapped out for the gso. Just assumed what worked for the GT would of worked for the gso. Funny it still displays in vga mode, would of thought that it wouldn't display *anything* if defective.
