I need a new PSU for my rig (The Corsair 400w isn't enough for my rig in it's current configuration, and I plan on getting a third graphics card soon). It looks like after I sell some old laptops that I have laying around, I'll have around $175 for a new PSU. Modular is almost required, unless someone can find me an amazing deal that isn't modular. I'm currently looking at the Antec True Power Quattro, but I'm open to suggestions as long as they aren't too expensive. I'd really like a 750W or more, because this is a folding rig as well as my daily use rig, so I'd like some more room for more powerful graphics cards as well as for OCing.

Your choices with modular PSUs are not as good relative to the choices you would have had considering non-modular PSUs as well.

Corsair 620HX - $150 ($40 rebate)
ENERMAX INFINITI EIN720AWT 720W - $180
SILVERSTONE DA750 750W- $175 ($25 rebate)

If you think I would be far better off going with a non-modular PSU, I would be willing to do so. What would you recommend if I don't need a modular model?

9600GT's only draw about 8-amps as standalone's & about 12-amps in SLI, so a your power needs are not all that great.

I'm really looking for something far more then I need currently because, as I said, this is a folding rig, and I hope to upgrade to 9800GTXs or above withing the next 6-8 months, and I don't want to have to upgrade the PSU again when I upgrade the graphics cards. I don't have a window, so non-modular isn't going to be a deal breaker for me, but if there is a good, modular PSU around my budget I'd take it over a non-modular one any day.

Thanks. That looks good. Is the Quattro actually a bad PSU? I don't care if it's not quite as good as the Corsair, but it looks like according to JonnyGURU's testing it's as least as good.

What kind of problems?
That would be a long type secission!

But it is at least mentioned in the M12D 750W & 850W review &/or discussion & google should produce some answers.

Basically just what PC P&C says can happen with mulit-rail PSU's did happen on real power hungry gaming rigs.

Wow, that price sucks. They must have shot up in price. I bought mine mid-March for $125 with a $25 rebate ($100 after rebate).
I believe newegg uses a program that automatically raises prices based on (popularity) sales.

Provantage carries most of the Corsair line & it was $105 a couple of days ago.

yeah newegg is the worst for power supplies, look elsewhere for them.

PC P&C Silencer 750 (a crowed favorite) $120 (B4 $20 MIR): http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=22071&promoid=1060&vpn=S75QB&manufacture=PC Power & Cooling
Corsair 850W $130: http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=35156&vpn=CMPSU-850TX&manufacture=Corsair&promoid=1060

Sometimes their prices are a bit inflated. You just have to search around and find the right place/time to buy. I got my 850TX from Newegg a month ago for $100 after rebate.
