WWII Flight sims

Hey, was cleaning my closet and saw my flight stick. Brought back great memories.

Are there any WWII flight sims with a large multiplayer base currently?
I remember playing fighter ace a long time ago when it was on Microsoft game zone or something like that. Had a blast, was simple but fun.

It looks like fighter Ace is still going. Don't know if it's the same game or has a good player base.

Saw good reviews of IL-2 Sturmovik but cant find user forums for it to see if it's active.
It's only $9 on steam to buy it's whole series.

Pacific Fighters is also good but not played as much as IL-2 is i think. (I love the pacific theatre of WW2 and it's usually not represented a lot in most genres these day on PC's)
 
Yep, Pacific Fighters is probably the most modern one out there. It has a ton of planes in it. Make sure you get the latest patch though as it was very, very buggy early on.

I played it for awhile but either I lost my skill from the old games such as Red Baron 3D/Combat Flight Simulator 1, or PF is just that much more realistic.

God, I miss playing Red Baron 3D.
 
No, IL2 1946 is the most recent and contains the entire IL2 series including Pacific Fighters.

Don;t buy anything other than IL2 1946 for that series.
 
Ok, picked up IL2 1946 $9 from steam. I tried using hyperlobby to find other players but nobody showed up..Maybe I didn't use it the right way??

It did feel good just to fly around in single player but I want to see and shoot at others lol. Well get shot at by others for a bit till I get back up to speed.
 
i always love MicroSoft Combat Flight Sim, online was great.

wonder if MS is going to make any more based on the fligth sim X engine...
 
Ok, found the active forums for the Flight sims Millions and millions of posts. Making progress :)

You need to be in the Forgotten Battles lobby, usually anything up to about 800 people online last time I was in there.
 
I wish they'd get off their ass and release Storm of War already. It's been in development limbo forever now.
