Looking to buy a 30" lcd for gaming and tv i just went and checked out an xhd3000 and played a fps on it and i can't stand the input lag so what i need is a quality 30" monitor with 2560x1600 rez that can play video games and watch tv i don't care if i have to buy some type of conversion box or somthing just to get it going so i can watch tv let me know what you guys think ..

Well, a nice 30" for the price is here :) And you should have enough money left over to get a good TV tuner card and watch TV on that if you so desire ... the input lag on the Dell is really low, like 2ms max according to Digitalversus.

cool i will check out it maybe i will buy 2 of them is there a way to hookup my hd cable to this lcd ? i like the fact that i can have twl lcd's for my computers but i really want to be able to watch tv on 1 and use the other one for a monitor which is why i had my eye on the xhd3000 but it was a big disapointment ..

The Dell only has one DVI-D input so your use limited to only computer use.

so im assuming that the dell 3008wfp has the same input lag the gateway xhd3000 has

But the input lag only comes when your not running native rez correct ? or is it there @2560x1600 also ?

they have both displayed input lag at native resolution, but the 3008WFP was far worse.

wow really so i guess the 3007wfp is gonna be my only bet and then i will have to get some type of tv for the office

dang i thought the 3007wfphc had more than 1 dvi any other 30's out there with multiple dvi inputs and don't have a problem with input lag ?

Ok update how's this i need a LCD with multiple dvi connections that has little to none input lag for FPS gaming i have multiple computers im going to need to hookup so this is why 1 dvi port is a no go. damn and the dell is cheap as hell right now ..

HP LP3065. Has the same panel used on Dell 3007wfp-hc and same input lag as Dell. 3 dvi-d ports. No scaler.

Alternately a DVI switch (don't know if those are priced sanely) or a HDMI 1.3 switch and a bunch of HDMI-DVI cables. Not sure if it's a good idea to gamble on that working out though, depends on the savings versus a LP3065.

^Looks like it's not priced sanely at all.

haha yeah 450 for a kvm is nutts could spend like $300 more and just buy another 30" refurbed dell so the hp has the same panel as the dell but has more inputs so an all around better LCD is that the concenious ?

If you need multiple dvi ports and don't want to spend on a separate dvi selector, then you need to get the HP.

My HP LP3065 arrived on my doorstep this morning, and it is positively amazing in every way. I saw the Gateway in stores and wasn't impressed by the colors and input lag, but this HP is just something else. Its a bit pricey compared to some of the other models but worth every penny. I haven't noticed any input lag, though I will admit I'm not extremely sensitive to such things.

PS. I love my 8800 GTX :) Still chugging away after 2 years and chewing up everything I give it, including 2560x1600.

Another monitor to toss in the mix is the LG W3000H (for low input lag 30", no scaler), although it seems to be pretty much the same as dell 2007WFP-HC and HP LP3065.

Only one input though.

More like two frames :p
27 ms max but 11.5 average.

But the HP LP3065 is virtually the same monitor to the dell right except it has 3 inputs ?

Cool i guess im going to have to start looking for the HP then wish it had the inputs of the xhd3000 and minimal input lag but i guess these panles just arnt there yet anyone have anymore suggestions im still open to any other 30" panles with multiple inputes and minimal input lag ..

Any monitor with a built-in AD board/scaler will produce some kind of input lag.
Get a 30'' without a scaler and a separate TV because there is no other option.
It's take it or leave it.

But why a scaler would introduce lag in the native resolution puzzles me...

I think it was NECs newest(?) 24" screen that had an option to 'skip' digital processing and thus reduce input lag. Maybe manufacturers are realizing the problem...

The scalar automatically deactivates when the monitor operates in its native mode so there's no scalar induced input lag at 2560x1600. At least that's how the Gateway 30" operates.

Yup, same here. My Dell 2405FPW also had scaler lag but it wasn't as bad as the Gateway. The trade off however was picture quality, the image was terrible compared to the scaling quality of the Gateway. In either case, lag was non-existent when running native res as expected.

so your saying that you don't see any input lag on the gateway xhd3000 runing at native resolution ?

I tried out a Gateway XHD3000 before I bought my LP3065 and there was no lag at native resolution. However, the lag at anything other than native (ie. 1080p) was very noticable, even in just the desktop.

The 3007wfp-hc has one major issue - the antiglare coating which makes this screen severely "sparkly", very noticable texture especially on white and bright backgrounds. Very annoying when reading or writing text, working with office apps. Does every 3007wfp-hc has this issue?

Otherwise it's a very good gaming/movie and entertainment monitor - no noticable input lag, no ghosting, "bright" colors.

I would certainly check out the samsung 305T, it's said that it doesnt have the "sparkly effect".

HP LP3065 is the best all around imo. I have the Dell 3007WFP-HC and the HP has the same panel minus, the generous anti-glare coating. However, I love my Dell 3007WFP-HC and I got it for just $675.

Every 30'' IPS panel has the AG coating. This is something embedded, and can not be changed.
Get the Samsung 305T+ if you want to avoid this.

hmm so no input lag on the xhd3000 at native rez i was at this guys house the other day and played tf2 on it and i noticed a crazy amount of input lag i know the desktop was running at 2560x1600 rez i didnt think to check the game to see if it was running at native rez but i did notice an insane amount of input lag but if the desktop is running at native rez then the game had to be running at native rez since it was fullscreen right if not it would have some sort of bars or something wihtin the game and i assume the video card would still be controling the scaling correct me if im wrong .

The monitor controls the scaling. At least in my case, the Nvidia scaling option is disabled with the Gateway XHD3000. I'm forced to use the monitor scaling. I was able to select the video card scaling with the Dell monitor. It could be a driver thing also, that affects the availability of the setting. In any case, you should not see any lag over DVI at 2560x1600. There is nothing to process or scale.

IMO, go for the HP LP3065 and you won't be disappointed (I'm not). The big advantage the gateway has is oodles of connectivity, which is negated by the input lag at non-native which you will run into when you connect anything other than a pc.

Dude.. there is ZERO input lag on an XHD3000 at native 2560 x 1600 res. Im using one right now and it is excpetional. this is your best deal..

The scalar automatically deactivates when the monitor operates in its native mode so there's no scalar induced input lag at 2560x1600. At least that's how the Gateway 30" operates.

Thats unique for the gateway?
Got a source for this?

That's not true. The Dell 2405FPW has around 40 ms of lag at the native resolution. In fact, it was one of the first monitors where people started complaining about lag because it was one of the worst at the time. If you couldn't feel that, then you shouldn't be claiming there's no lag unless you've done some tests.
